I needed assistance when I came out of hospital before I went home so booked time at Marnel Lodge. I didn't really know what to expect however I can't thank all the staff and management enough they were so friendly, caring, patient, understanding and made me feel very welcome.

I decided to do Respite Care for myself after a hip replacement, looked on internet and found Marnel Lodge, which was close to my home. Went to have a look, as I really didn't know what to expect. The moment I walked, I was made to feel very welcome. Everything was explained to me , they showed me around.
So on the 13/11/24 I arrived at 5:30pm from hip replacement op, staying for 2 weeks. What a 2 weeks it was, absolutely fantastic. I was at least 30 years younger than the other residents, but that wasn't a problem.
Staff were so friendly, caring and always had time for you. I had a great time getting to know my elders and had a great fun, joining them in the different activities offered. I made some lovely new friends with staff and residents. It was just what I needed, rest, making rehab much quicker.
I have been back to visit and again was welcomed with open arms by staff and new found friends .
They have just finished having a refurb, which is beautiful. Highly recommend

I am a weekly visitor to Marnel Lodge as I have a friend who has been a resident for two years I would highly recommend this home to anyone it is a happy home where the staff go above and beyond to give the residence the best care my friend enjoys weekly trips out and has no end of activities as
well as entertainers visiting regularly . It is a very Modern home kept spotless with a garden area where family are always invited to attend BBQs in the summer

Friendly staff, kind and chatty with residents and visitors. Home clean and comfortable. Very much like the coffee area, apart from acoustics makes hearing difficult, especially for anyone with hearing problems. Think the food is satisfactory but quality in some instances could be better, e.g. sausages,
soup etc. could be a bit tastier, especially as regards value for money. Activities seem good, I know my mum-in-law enjoys them.

The care, compassion and love provided at Barchester Marnel Lodge Care Home for my father was truly fantastic. The staff are kind, considerate, attentive and my father enjoyed their company. The staff were always very welcoming of myself and other family visitors. The compassion, respectfulness and

Initially Dad came for respite care for two weeks at Barchester Marnel Lodge Care Home after coming out of hospital and returned home for independent living, until May 2023 when he became a full time resident at Marnel Lodge. From Dad's first day at Marnel Lodge until his last he has received excellent
care, compassion and support from all the staff. I have been coming up to Marnel Lodge on regular visits to see Dad and regard the staff as my friends and extended family, so I'll miss visiting Marnel Lodge now. Dad's had a lot of fun and laughter during his stay at Marnel Lodge especially in his early times here, regularly winning the bingo, singing songs when the singer came in. Playing the piano himself in the lounge on occasions. Enjoying the camaraderie and friendship of the staff & fellow residents. I suppose what I'm simply trying to say is that this place became Dad's home and he felt very comfortable, content and happy here. So thank you to all the staff at Marnel Lodge for making that possible.

Mum moved to Marnel Lodge in December 2023 in a bit of a rush as she'd sadly suffered a stroke and lost her inability to live independently. We were devastated when the hospital wanted to discharge her so close to Christmas, it was such a stressful time for us all. Her placement at Marnel was only supposed
to be temporary whilst we awaited a vacancy at her first choice of care home, but we've since made the decision for her to stay there permanently as the care she's received has been second to none. The staff are so friendly and keep you updated with every change or notification, we never have to worry about Mum's safety or happiness which is so comforting. The staff know Mum well which shows us they take the time to know her on a personal level, she loves the food, and the atmosphere is always positive and vibrant. Particular thanks to one member of staff in particular who answers all my random questions and always responds immediately, and another member of staff who calls me regularly with health and well-being updates. Would 100% recommend.

Our mother loved being at Marnel Lodge; she called it home. She became very attached to her carers and other staff all of whom are kind, considerate, supportive and happy to accommodate Mum's needs, nothing was too much trouble. Marnels excellent care starts with each individual carer, and their actions
and sense of responsibility to the residents. The home is modern, and the decor is light and bright and of an excellent standard. There are lots of other activities which cater for all interests and abilities which provide interaction with other residents and friendships were formed. Outside is a lovely garden which she loved to sit in. My sister and I were happy that she was able to receive the best care and we would have no hesitation in recommending Marnel.

Mum has been made very welcome and comfortable and she is being looked after very well, nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
Her room is lovely, nice even temperature with a lovely view of the garden.
All nursing and care staff are very approachable and are extremely hard-working.

I am a full-time carer for my husband at home and finding Marnel Lodge Care Home for respite care has been a saving grace for me this last year. He has been to Marnel Lodge four times this year. In October I needed respite care for my husband at short notice and I was able to get him there within a
few days. The staff at all levels are friendly, helpful, professional and caring. He enjoys his food (which is excellent) and is very content with his accommodation. I know he is in safe hands and well looked after.

When my brother-in-law was admitted, he was very poorly and confused. Since he has been with yourselves, he has recovered both mentally and physically, no doubt down to the staff and doctors in the home. He is enjoying his stay because, as he says, he feels safe and secure, on his own at home he felt
very vulnerable and couldn't look after himself.

My mother enjoyed a new lease on life at Marnel Lodge Care Home, she connected meaningfully with staff and other residents and at the age of 84 found a new best friend.
The care Mum received was beautiful, the attention to detail in the housekeeping was excellent and Mum enjoyed the activities put
on each week.
She particularly loved the musical concerts and walking around the beautiful garden.
The staff also supported us as a family and even through the Covid pandemic, they did all they could to help us connect with Mum and keep everyone safe.

Both of my parents have spent time in Marnel Lodge and both were cared for with the greatest respect and kindness. The staff go above and beyond to ensure the residents are happy.
It felt like having a second family when I went to visit as the staff are always so warm and welcoming. When my mum passed
away from terminal cancer, I felt sad not only for losing her, but also because I would not see the staff again. They were incredibly supportive when times were tough and I could tell that they were all personally invested in my mum's care.

We have visited several residents over eight years. The outside appearance and approach is splendid. The way one is greeted on entry is always courteous and smiling. Observing staff with residents - all treated with respect - residents are involved in any comments to us when we are in rooms/communal
areas. The environment could scarcely be improved; clean, no grubby paintwork, displays are brilliant, white tablecloths! Everything communicates a pleasant, caring and ordinary place to be. Your range of activities is commendable. Well done.

My grandmother has been at Marnel Lodge for nine years and the care has always been exemplary. The food always looks amazing and the staff also make us feel so welcome as a family. My daughter absolutely loves her visit weekly to her Nana but also all the team! There is also a lovely little cafe where
they serve cakes and drinks for the family which makes it nice to socialise with my Nana outside of her room. The gardens are really well maintained and beautiful to sit in in the summer.

The care my grandfather received at Marnel was exceptional. All of the carers went above and beyond to ensure he settled in and was cared for to a very high standard at all times. There was always a great variety of activities and some lovely meals that he really enjoyed. The communication from all
of the team was always brilliant; they were also incredibly welcoming at all times during visiting - even when faced with the difficulties that Covid presented.
All of the home has a homely comfortable feel, and I couldn't have asked for a better place for my grandad.

The staff always showed utmost kindness whilst they were looking after my dad over the past year but very specifically provided wonderful care in his final days. These times are never easy but the staff were amazing and looked after us all so well. They were supportive to our requests, extremely caring
towards Dad's needs and showed us a huge amount of respect and care in his final hours. They gave us room to grief but support when we had questions. We couldn't have wished for anything else. When Dad passed, the staff said such wonderful things about him, which really touched my heart and helped so much in his passing. We were treated so personally even though I guess they deal with this all the time. Thank you.

I joined the team in April 2021 and my role is to look after the home’s finances and administration. I have worked in administration for over 20 years and here at Marnel I lead a team of 2 lovely ladies. Tasks related to administration are very important to keeping a business running efficiently. Having the responsibility to complete tasks on time and in a quality manner without much oversight is crucial and really rewarding for me personally.


This is my first role in a care home and I am loving getting to know the residents and their families. I interact with the residents on a daily basis and you will often find me singing and dancing in one of the lounges when we have entertainers in and I am happy to join them on trips out. My door is always open and I am always happy to help.
