Professional staff offer friendly and expert care to those with residential, dementia needs or short-term respite needs.

My mum moved to Acer house in January 2024 from her previous care home and I wanted to take the opportunity to say how pleased I am with the care mum has received since moving in. Every member of staff without exception are always on hand to help and assist with all the carer my mum requires, they are
always cheery and polite and go the extra mile to help. Everywhere is always clean and tidy and there are plenty of things for my mum to do. I would happily recommend Acer House, in fact I already have.

Acer House, run by Avery Care Homes, continues to give amazing service. There is always plenty of staff on duty, who all demonstrate the utmost care and concern for my friend who is an inmate.
The staff are wonderful and the fabric of the care home is excellent, as is the cleanliness.

Exemplary care home! Staff skilled/trained. Dedication/passion for helping residents/colleagues with needs that stand out and make such a difference. Staff come from diverse backgrounds, hence, a wealth of life experiences, resulting in effective communication. Staff, happy/friendly. If a resident is
struggling, a 1 -1 rapport is developed, so they feel safe and happy. Residents are encouraged to socialise/participate in daily numerous/varied activities. Staff are positive and smiley, have a sense of humour, happy to engage which is the best medicine as the residents beam too! Mum's mobility/mental health have improved immensely. Staff have an understanding of individual's needs/ behaviours and have a flexible approach; going that extra mile to provide the best quality of life. Mum has moderate Alzheimers; the staff are patient and calm, putting Mum at ease despite their busy schedule. The staff's interpersonal skills make Acer House such a wonderful care home! Food - varied/high quality and plentiful.

I had recent cause for concern as my Mother had received contact from a close relative who has for many years tried to disrupt Mum's life using coercive tactics to control my Mum. My Mum had only been in Acer House for 5 months but was happy and adapted well. This relative had been recently contacting
my Mum without my knowledge, but thankfully due to the robust management protocol. The manager stopped this in its tracks. Ensuring all possible efforts and strategies are used to safeguard my Mum. This is an absolutely emphatic response, which I am most grateful for, as my mum well well-being is paramount.

My mother has been a resident of Acer House for 10 years. We celebrated her 100th birthday on 31st May.
The management and staff were magnificent in their support of celebrating the event with 20 members of our family.
It was very typical of the care, love and support Mum has received, firstly as
a self-funder, now with local authority support. We cannot speak highly enough of the care provided by Acer House.

As usual, the staff have been excellent in their dealings with Dad and my brother and I. Nothing is too much trouble. We are kept in touch with what is going on regularly and they try and get him to take part in as many activities as they can. He can be very obstinate! It is a great comfort to know

Mum has been at Acer House for nearly 3 years now, and in this time she has received excellent care from all the staff. She enjoys chatting with residents and staff alike, whether during the well-provided meal times, or relaxing in the comfortable surroundings. There is so much provision for wellbeing,
with the choice to join in the excellent activities; Mum especially enjoys singing! This is Mum's home now, and as her health changes I know we will get the support we both need, we are so grateful to be part of this family.

The care team at Acer always go above and beyond for Mum. Following a stroke in December we had to move Mum into care and chose Acer House.
We've been very pleased by the care and attention Mum has received from a prompt discharge from hospital to her ongoing care.
Due to her dementia she is not always pleased to see us and also as I live 5 hours drive away
I really value the social media page which often has pictures of her enjoying activities and engaging with staff and other residents.

My mother-in-law continues to enjoy all the encouragement, support and care provided by the team at Acer House. Acer House does put the care in the care home. Dad has excellent care, and the staff are always happy, friendly, and go the extra mile to help. They are particularly accommodating during my visits and are brilliant at communicating with me especially as I’m 4k miles away!
He has been at Acer House
for three years now and he is in better health and more content than ever. Dad is such a dapper chap and he is always dressed in smart, clean clothes. He enjoys the food and looks well-fed.
The home manager is exceptional! As are all the staff.

Acer have done a fabulous job of looking after mum since she moved there in May 2023. She has had to deal with a lot during this time with her condition and they have been very supportive and caring during very difficult times. I have found the staff very good and are very well led by the management

All the staff are always welcoming and friendly. My aunt says the food is always good. The activities are very varied with the residents being asked what they would like to do. Visitors are always welcome to participate, even in the exercise classes! Staff always encourage the residents to participate
and will go to rooms to ask if the resident wishes to join in. Last year my aunt thoroughly enjoyed National Car Day, when we sat outside with remote control cars racing each other.

Mum has excellent care at Acer House and everyone is very friendly and helpful. The staff are always friendly and go the extra mile to help. When it was Mum's 104th birthday they made it a really special day and even invited the Mayor to wish Mum Happy Birthday. Very special for her!

Sam Ealden

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2019

Hello, my name is Sam, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Acer House.


I have 20 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications including Levels 2, 3, and 5 Health and Social Care Diplomas, PTTLS Level 3, and Level 3 Health and Safety. Working in residential and nursing settings, I have been lucky enough to have a variety of roles including, a Carer/Senior Carer, Home trainer, Housekeeping, Chef, Activities Co-ordinator, and Deputy Manager, gaining plenty of experience and valuable skills.


Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. One moment that I will cherish throughout my career was when I had the privilege to be taught how to knit by a very skilful resident living with dementia. It is such a great talent to withhold, and you will now often find me trying to join in with our knit-and-natter club.


I would best describe myself as someone who is very passionate, determined, and strong-minded. In my spare time, I spend most weekends cheering my son on from the sidelines at his football matches and love relaxing in the garden with my family.

Jackie previously supported the Ashcombe Suite community and is a strong leader ensuring the best possible outcomes for the residents living within the community. More recently Jackie has transferred to our housekeeping department to allow her more flexibility to continue with her spare time hobbies and interests.


In her spare time, Jackie goes for mini breaks with her husband to explore the UK countryside or spend time with her wonderful grandchildren.
