A huge thanks to all the staff at Acer House for doing such a sterling job! Mum was recently in hospital and the support I received as a family member was outstanding. Also, the care and commitment they’ve shown in facilitating Mum’s safe return to home life couldn’t have been better. I feel more at
peace knowing Mum is back where she belongs and is getting the compassionate care and dignified treatment she deserves whilst being in a loving environment. Thanks all.

My mother feels safe and secure at Acer House. She has good relations with the staff and enjoys chatting with her friends. She enjoys her meals and joins in with some of the activities. The staff and management are welcoming when I visit and are helpful in responding to questions or concerns. It means
a lot that my mother is calm, happy and relaxed there.

Dad has been at Acer House for a year now, happily settled in. He is in better health & more content than when he arrived last year. Dad always is dressed in clean clothes & really enjoys the food cooked for him, especially the home-baked cakes! All the staff at Acer House are wonderful & our family

I find Acer House a friendly and caring place for my dad to live, it is reassuring for me to know he is being well looked after. My dad lived in a flat on his own before he came to Acer House and it got to the stage where he was struggling, I looked at several care homes and I'm glad he has a place
in Acer House.

My mum was at Acer House for 2.5 years and it took her a while to settle in but once she had she was very happy there and loved all the staff. My mum died in November and the care and support of all the staff was excellent. They were all very supportive of my sister and I at a very sad time. They gave
my mum the best of care and cannot fault them.

My mum was a resident since May 2021 and sadly passed away on the 25th of November 2023.
In her time at Acer House, my mum was very happy and felt at home. She felt safe and comfortable. For the family, we were happy in the knowledge that she was well cared for. The support from the care staff was
excellent and we were also supported as my mum's health declined. Acer House has been very supportive of my mum, and also the family after we lost her. A big thank you to Acer House.

After a period of trying to select a respite care home for my elderly mum that would be suitable, we finally decided to go for Acer House Care Home. When we first asked for recommendations for respite care on social media we had immediate responses from friends with extreme credibility in this field.
When we visited the care home we were instantly blown away by the professionalism of the staff who greeted us and made us feel so very welcome. We instantly knew that we were making the right choice for my mum due to the incredible staff and management set-up in place at Acer Care Home. After dropping my mum off and watching her engage with the other residents combined with the way in which the staff made her feel so amazing as a new resident, definitely put a tear in my eyes. Thank you so much Acer House for putting our minds at rest knowing that my mum is definitely in the best care we have ever seen.

Such lovely helpful staff whenever you call in. The manager is available when requested and certainly manages her team extremely well. The care home is always welcoming and makes a huge effort with various decorations for the suitable time of the year.

My father went to Acer House Care Home after a stay in hospital. He has been well cared for and settled quickly due to the care, diligence and patience of all the staff. As he, himself, said referring to the staff ‘They are very kind and look after me very well, I am happy here.’ I was very impressed
with the way his medical needs were met and if he requires help at any time he only has to press a button which staff are quick to respond to.
The manager and her deputy know their residents well. They go out of their way to ensure needs are met and our family have been well supported. The staff in the reception area are very accommodating and helpful with any queries. Medication is administered by competent staff.
This is a lovely care home with fantastic, professional staff.

Both of my parents are residents in Acer House Care Home, which was a difficult transition for all family members.
However, from the moment you arrive in the building you are made to feel welcome, the receptionists, care staff, support staff and managers are all very friendly and kind. My parents have
received the care and support they need and have nothing but praise for the management and staff; my father says that nothing is too much trouble for them and my mother enjoys many of the activities that are on offer. Thank you Acer House.

All the staff are very friendly, welcoming and seem to know every individual that is staying with them, their needs and their preferences. During the initial visit to the Home, everything was fully explained and I was given a tour of the Care Home which made me more reassured in leaving my Mum there

Sam Ealden

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello, my name is Sam, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Acer House.


I have 20 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications including Levels 2, 3, and 5 Health and Social Care Diplomas, PTTLS Level 3, and Level 3 Health and Safety. Working in residential and nursing settings, I have been lucky enough to have a variety of roles including, a Carer/Senior Carer, Home trainer, Housekeeping, Chef, Activities Co-ordinator, and Deputy Manager, gaining plenty of experience and valuable skills.


Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet along the way. One moment that I will cherish throughout my career was when I had the privilege to be taught how to knit by a very skilful resident living with dementia. It is such a great talent to withhold, and you will now often find me trying to join in with our knit-and-natter club.


I would best describe myself as someone who is very passionate, determined, and strong-minded. In my spare time, I spend most weekends cheering my son on from the sidelines at his football matches and love relaxing in the garden with my family.

Jackie joined the team as a senior carer in 2019 having already worked at Acer House for some time in the culinary department. Jackie previously supported the Ashcombe Suite community and is a strong leader ensuring the best possible outcomes for the residents living within the community. More recently Jackie has transferred to our housekeeping department to allow her more flexibility to continue with her spare time hobbies and interests.


In her spare time, Jackie goes for mini breaks with her husband to explore the UK countryside or spend time with her wonderful grandchildren.

Julie is a senior care assistant here at Acer House and has worked for Avery Healthcare since the home opened in 2011. Her vast experience of working in the health and social care sector has helped her in her role within the home and enables her to provide excellent person-centred care and support to each and every individual living within the home. Jenny has worked in the care industry for many years and has a vast experience of working in the care industry. Jenny joined the team here at Acer House back in 2018. In her spare time Jenny enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and walking her young Labrador dog.

Terry joined the team her at Acer House back in 2016 as a care assistant. Terry predominantly works on our memory care suite and says no two days are the same which adds to the fun and variety. Terry enjoys sports, a day at the races and spending time with friends and family.

Bruno re-joined our team in July 2023 following some time out trying other sectors. Bruno has worked in a variety of care home environments in a variety of roles but is most at home working as a care assistant in our memory care suite where he strives to achieve person-centred support at all times. Bruno always has a smile to brighten up the day.


Bruno enjoys spending time with his young son and socialising with friends in his spare time.

Lisa joined the team in January 2024 having worked for the same care organisation for over 15 years. Lisa is a hard-working and dedicated member of the care team who puts resident's needs and wishes at the centre of everything she does. Lisa enjoys her role and responsibilities here and hopes to train as a senior carer and improve her skill set in our environment. Lisa enjoys spending time with her daughter, husband and pet dog in her spare time.

Marisa joined the team back in February 2021 after having successfully managed a care home in Burnham on Sea for over 20 years. Marisa's wealth of knowledge in the care sector has enabled her to transfer her skills to her role here at Acer House. In her spare time, Marisa enjoys walking her dog Max and spending time with her husband and grown-up daughters

Ola joined our Reception team in 2016 having previously worked for high-end jewellers, with her she brought extensive experience in customer service.


Ola will always welcome you with an enthusiastic big smile and knows the home, staff and community living within the home very well.


In her free time Ola will cook new Italian dishes, have a long walk or read a good book.

Lindy joined our Reception Team in 2020 having worked in the care industry for a number of years. She is passionate about her role and has also become known as ‘FLO’ (Family Liaison Officer) Lindy has a great rapport with both residents and their families and is always willing to offer assistance in any way she can. Lindy is often heard laughing and chatting with our community and is a kind, compassionate member of the team with a fantastic knowledge of the home, facilities and services provided within the home.

Anna, originally from Poland joined Acer House in 2014 as a kitchen assistant and has worked her way to sous chef. Anna enjoys trying new recipes and expanding her variety of dishes, never afraid to try something new. Anna enjoys spending time with her friends and travelling to Prague to see her son and Poland to visit her mother

Sandra has been at Acer House since 2016 working int he house keeping and laundry department. Sandra says the best thing about her job is the people, staff, families and residents make coming to work a pleasure. In her spare time Sandra enjoys being a grandmother and spending time with her family, her favourite pass time is enjoying time in the garden with friends and family. Sandra enjoys puzzles and is often found sat with residents engaging in activities or being supported with her daily tasks by helpers living within the home.

Helen has worked in the health and social care sector for many years and joined our culinary department in February of 2023 when she decided she would like to transfer her skills from the care side of life to support. Helen enjoys holidays in the sunshine and supporting her partner with his window cleaning business in her spare time. Helen's bubbly personality and friendly demeanour have been a real hit with residents and staff alike.
