Wadhurst Manor is a 66 bed purpose-built nursing home in the award winning village of Wadhurst. The home is surrounded by beautiful views of the countryside and established gardens. It was refurbished in 2023 to a very high standard, offering a luxurious and relaxing environment to live.

With a team of highly-qualified and attentive staff who focus on the individual needs of residents ensuring each person receives a tailored care plan. Their dedication and passion can be seen across all departments.

Dementia friendly corridors that create multi-sensory experiences can be found on their Memory Lane community. The dining rooms and lounge areas allow for a comfortable space with a bit of luxury. Residents can access the terraced areas every day ensuring they have the freedom to enjoy the fresh air in a safe environment. A team of specially trained Nurses and Carers support those living with dementia and adapt to their needs, whilst always showing compassion.

I have found Wadhurst Manor to be a most welcoming home from the very beginning when my mother arrived in June for respite. Over the weeks she has been very well cared for and looks really well. I cannot fault any of the staff with their attentive manner to Mum and indeed helping me and answering any
questions or concerns I may have in this settling in process. My only criticism would be that the bedrooms are rather dreary and dark and I feel not cleaned to a high standard. Regarding activities, I would like to see more outings and a little more going on at weekends. The gardens need a lot of attention as currently, they look a mess - in need of green fingers and TLC like the residents.

A great relief to find a home with all staff dementia trained and secure, yet homely units for dementia residents. Good sized rooms and the ability to bring in your own familiar furniture and furnishings. Good range of activities and days out to choose from. Helpful and understanding staff.

Care is good and staff are very friendly and helpful. My mother is well looked after which is what my brother and I wanted. It takes away the worry we had when she was living alone with carers coming in 3 times a day.

The care home is situated in a beautiful setting. When a resident fell over, the staff members were fantastic. One laid down on the floor to comfort the resident and to provide support. He was aided immediately and professionally and it gave me real reassurance in the high quality of care given here.
My Great-Aunt is happy here, the staff treat her like an old friend. Absolutely fantastic care here.

I find the home very welcoming and homely place. The garden could do with a little TLC. The staff and nurses are very helpful but could have more activities on weekends and more trips out because my father loves to go out.

As a casual visitor from 'away', I am always impressed by Barchester homes (my mother was in a Barchester home also). My main observation of Wadhurst is that there always seems to be a shortage of staff. Staff at the home are always friendly and helpful in very difficult situations.

I was extremely likely to recommend this home in that I think the home is really nice and the carers are wonderful. Kind and patient and so dedicated - I have recommended 3 people and times it hasn't worked out.


So now I feel unlikely to recommend it.


Reason No 1 - On Amber, we have a resident

who screams HELP almost continually.


Reason No 2 - Two ladies were frightened by another male resident.

My mother has been a resident of Wadhurst Manor for almost three years. She suffers from severe dementia. The care, during this time, has been excellent. On arrival her physical health was poor; she is now much improved. The nursing care has been exemplary. Wadhurst is a happy place and has contented
residents. The range of activities ensures residents are happy and fulfilled.

It was a shock for my wife and me, as well as mum, for her to move to the dementia wing of a nursing home, but the staff at Wadhurst kindly helped the three of us with this transition. Now, when we take mum for a 'walk' she quickly asks to be taken back to her new friends. It means a lot to know that
she is being cared for so well - thank you.

Mum has been in Memory Lane for over 2 years and as her needs have changed her care has always been actively discussed with us and our views sought. I believe Mum is in the best place and her care is consistently of a very high standard.

This is a large institution. All institutions suffer in one form or another from being such. This one less than most. My wife's ward seems very well organised and the institution almost is softened by the excellent performance of some/most of the staff. It has the appearance of being well kept and looked
after by people who care about such things, as well as caring for the resident.

Frosted brimmed filled wine glasses greeted us on arrival, guests, residents and carers appeared and soon everyone was chatting, what a convivial party it was.
Soon tables loaded with food appeared I was one of the first to try this wonderful selection, not before I had 3 smoked salmon and cream cheese
biscuits, I then chose more salmon, mango sausage rolls (excellent), herb chipolatas, pastry filled rolls and dips and my wife's favourite tiered cake stands with one bite chocolate eclairs and much more. While all the eating and drinking was going on amongst the chatter and conjure, our manager was busy socialising making sure her guests were happy and content.

I work as a volunteer reading aloud to residents. The home is always warm and welcoming, the staff extremely friendly and the residents happy and well cared for. I was invited to a volunteers Christmas lunch which was nicely cooked and cheerfully presented.

I have been a volunteer at this Barchester home for two and a half years and I have always found the care of the residents to be paramount.
I have helped with various activities and quizzes and wreath making for the residents' doors which enables them to help and have fun to prepare for Christmas.

With over 15 years of experience in the care industry, I began my career as a nurse and have advanced through dedication and unwavering commitment. In 2018, I completed my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership, equipping me with the skills to lead effectively.

I am dedicated to nurturing, mentoring, and supporting my team to ensure the highest standard of care is provided to our residents, thereby enhancing the reputation of our service. With a hands-on approach, I treat residents with the same care and compassion as I would my own family.

Previous to here I worked as a college lecturer teaching building and construction. So a very different career path for me.

I have been working here at Wadhurst Manor since 2015. I started as an agency Carer. I really liked the way the home was run and the ethos behind everything they do.

I am a resident here at Wadhurst Manor, I moved in July 2019. Since moving here I have made some lovely friends. I enjoy meeting new people and everyone here is so friendly and the staff have also become my friends. I really enjoy helping them out with odd jobs and meeting new guests in the home.
