Wadhurst Manor is a 66 bed purpose-built nursing home in the award winning village of Wadhurst. The home is surrounded by beautiful views of the countryside and established gardens. It was refurbished in 2023 to a very high standard, offering a luxurious and relaxing environment to live.

With a team of highly-qualified and attentive staff who focus on the individual needs of residents ensuring each person receives a tailored care plan. Their dedication and passion can be seen across all departments.

Dementia friendly corridors that create multi-sensory experiences can be found on their Memory Lane community. The dining rooms and lounge areas allow for a comfortable space with a bit of luxury. Residents can access the terraced areas every day ensuring they have the freedom to enjoy the fresh air in a safe environment. A team of specially trained Nurses and Carers support those living with dementia and adapt to their needs, whilst always showing compassion.

Care/Support: reliance on agency staff, linguistic difficulties, failure of communication between staff and between staff and residents.
Management: Good in response to residents suggestions or complaints but carers at times spread too thinly on the ground. In addition, apart from pay and working conditions
etc a well run organisation of any sort requires of management a caring attitude to employees, so that staff feel appreciated and have a sense that they are valued not just for the work they do but personally, this is particularly important in medical and social care sector (caring for the carers) my impression is that this is somewhat lacking here.
Food: An army marches on its stomach. This applies not just to the military services but especially to hospitals and care homes, whatever the disabilities of residents, whether physical, medical, mental or otherwise, this provision of a varied tasty diet is an essential ingredient. The CQC last year said this area required improvement. Apart from minor variations in menus this still applies. Some fundamental changes, though promised, have not yet been implemented. Moreover, the cooking skills of kitchen staff and the budget need upgrading.

I would highly recommend this care home. It is a purpose built building so works really well and there are always smiling faces when you walk in the door.
Having viewed 10 care homes it was the only one that did not make me feel depressed but it is one of the most expensive care homes and there are
areas for improvement.
Taste, as one of the primary senses which is often one of the last to go it seems sad that this is an area that needs improvement. There are excellent cakes and biscuits but the main diet is unvaried and one cannot live on sugar alone.


Smell, on my first visit I was delighted that it smelt clean and fresh, however, there have been times when the smell of urine in the corridors was very unpleasant.
Care, the care staff are exceptional THANK YOU but staff numbers have been reduced (used to be two on duty now it can be one). This makes it harder for them to keep to the high standards they set and could be the reason for the above problem and a recent occurrence of no staff at all on the whole floor.

My aunt aged 96 had severals falls and professionals advised that she moved from her residential care home.
When we viewed Wadhurst Manor we were all impressed with the personal attentiveness of many staff. This was a feature during her stay that sadly was only several weeks she died in her sleep.
She was looked after really well. We marked all parameters very highly except value for money since we realise that good nursing care should be expensive but we felt the admission administration fee of £3000 was excessive.

My mother has been in Wadhurst Manor for a year now and the care and support provided by the home has been excellent. She has been made to feel at home and has become more relaxed and less anxious, thanks to the care provided by the staff and the interaction with both the staff and other residents.

Since dad's arrival at Wadhurst Manor, he has been treated with dignity and compassion. His room is light, airy and comfortable. As a family we are impressed with the care and commitment of all staff, nothing is too much trouble. There are many fun activities which dad has been gently encouraged to
attend and has enjoyed. In dad's own words "staff are all very helpful, friendly and extremely kind."

In quiet surroundings, Wadhust Manor provides a good level of care provided by friendly, professional staff. A feeling of being at home is quickly generated. Food is prepared on-site and the cooks do good home cooking and menus which changed on a weekly basis. Care staff are very resident-focused. The
experience is, overall, a very good one.

Wadhurst Manor is well run and provides a high standard of care. It goes beyond the minimum of doing 'just enough'. Staff are hard-working and show real commitment to residents' wellbeing. A family can be sure that nursing staff know the resident well enough to be able to identify and address problems,
should the need arise. Dementia care, in particular, is of a high standard.

My father has Parkinson's related dementia.
All of the staff are kind and caring and most of them are fun.
Dad responds particularly well to certain members of staff, as do other residents.
The food is always very good/excellent.
The staff friendly and the home clean and tidy.
Dad's choices are
always respected and mostly he's happy.
No complaints.

Following a broken hip and 4 weeks in hospital where staff levels prevented recovery, my wife moved to Wadhurst Manor.
She soon started to recover.
After the hospital ward, her room overlooking the garden was a great improvement.
She is much calmer and I am pleased that she has settled in so well.

Very impressed with Wadhurst care home. The grounds are attractive, tidy and well maintained. Cosmetically, the home is of a very high standard. The interior is spacious, light and tastefully decorated. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week or can opt to have quiet times.
1:1 life at Wadhurst is fun and active. Menus are designed to take residents likes/dislikes into consideration - based on fresh produce, cooked to high quality. The staff, management, nurses, carers, catering and activities are what makes the home - creating a warm, family feeling in the home, whilst delivering professional, high-quality person-centred care.

My mother is very happy at Wadhurst Manor Care Home. She has been there for two and a half years. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly and caring. The only let down is the agency staff that unfortunately have to be employed because of the shortfall in permanent staff. A problem throughout
the rest of the UK.

My brother has lived happily at Wadhurst Manor for nearly 5 years now. He was very poorly when he arrived and unable to look after himself anymore. With loving care and interest in him as an individual, Wadhurst Manor has made a new man of him!


He says he feels part of a community - not only the

community of the home, where he has made real friends amongst the other residents, staff and volunteers, but also of the wider village community.


Wadhurst Manor is very good at involving the village in activities it organises and connecting with the local U3A, the parish church and schools and youth groups. I'd say the quality of my brother's life has improved and his social world has enlarged at a time when he might have had a very bad outlook indeed, and Wadhurst Manor is to be heartily thanked for this transformation.

This is the third time I've been to Wadhurst Manor. Generally I'm happy to stay there but I do think standards have fallen, reduced staff, too many agency workers. They try hard but need more training. The long term staff cannot be faulted. Management are very good but I feel their hands are tied in
regards to finance. I was in business for fifty years and know expenditure has to be in check. But I learnt a lot that sometimes cutting back on wages can be sighted.

Professional management team who assessed my mother in hospital with very little notice. Staff always friendly, chat and helpful. A good size balcony on the dementia wing (memory lane) so residents can safely go outside. Baskets along the hallways with items for residents (handbags, hats, teddies etc).
Full activity programme every day. The setting is very nice with secure gardens open for residents to walk out in. Chef has made something my father wanted.

I am dedicated to nurturing, mentoring, and supporting my team to ensure the highest standard of care is provided to our residents, thereby enhancing the reputation of our service. With a hands-on approach, I treat residents with the same care and compassion as I would my own family.

I have lived in Wadhurst for over 50 years and I love living in this town which was voted the best place to live in the UK in 2023.

Since then I have realised that I want to further my career in care and so in 2023 I became a care practitioner at Wadhurst Manor, where I have been part of the team since 2020.


Together with the amazing team here I hope to provide the best care to both our residents and their friends and family for many more years.

Hello my name is Colette and I started as a part-time administration assistant at Wadhurst Manor in November 2020.


You may have seen me on reception if you have visited. I enjoy collaborating with the friendly and hard-working staff teams here in the home to welcome and support our residents and their families. However long their stay with us, it’s a privilege to spend time with such a diverse assortment of interesting and engaging people.


I had not worked in the front line of the care sector before so I appreciate this opportunity to contribute to the delivery of excellent care.

Hi, I have worked for Barchester for 8 years now. Working previously in a sister home. I joined the team at Wadhurst in October 2020. It is a great team here and I am enjoying it very much. Previous to here I worked as a college lecturer teaching building and construction. So a very different career path for me.

I have been working here at Wadhurst Manor since 2015. I started as an agency Carer. I really liked the way the home was run and the ethos behind everything they do.


When a position became available I did not hesitate to apply. The team are great as is the management too.

I am a resident here at Wadhurst Manor, I moved in July 2019. Since moving here I have made some lovely friends. I enjoy meeting new people and everyone here is so friendly and the staff have also become my friends. I really enjoy helping them out with odd jobs and meeting new guests in the home.
