Briarscroft has a team who are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents, with activities and experiences which bring them joy. Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks.

The community are embraced into life in the home, with regular visits from people who treat the residents to everything from Bollywood dancing and African drumming to gentle exercise sessions and live music.

Local school children regularly pop into the home, as does miniature Dachshund Herbert! The home also has two cats, a cockatiel and a budgie!

The residents enjoy trips out into the community, from the local shops to Planet Ice, where they can enjoy seasonal productions.

The team are passionate about supporting the residents to have a very active role to play in how their home is run, giving them a sense of purpose and belonging. There are a team of resident ambassadors, who do everything from interviewing potential staff and providing feedback, to welcoming new residents and their families to Briarscroft.

The beautiful gardens stretch all the way round the home and back onto Shard End Lake. With a potting shed, raised planters and wheelchair friendly pathways, they are the perfect spot to relax in the summer. This year the team and residents have loved growing their own tomatoes and herbs, harvesting them for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

The home also has a cinema room, with a candyfloss and popcorn machine, a hair salon, for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser, and a bistro, which is a lovely spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

Briarscroft also has welcoming lounges and dining rooms, where residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea, as well as regular cheese and wine evenings and homemade cocktails!

My friend moved into Briarscroft originally for two weeks respite care. She was really struggling at home. She had been to several other care homes over the years for respite care, but had never settled. However, since moving to Briarscroft, she absolutely loves it and decided to stay permanently. She
has settled in so much and looks so well.

My friend is currently living here and I can't thank the staff enough. They make sure everyone is safe and well looked after. The manager is amazing and very helpful and the maintenance man is very helpful and cares for the residents. Very, very good home.

My mom is a new resident she seems great so far she has her off days but she does say they treat her well and has lots of tea! The carers are lovely and are very helpful and friendly, it's nice to be able to call and speak to them in person too.

Every time we visit the home to visit a friend, we always get such a friendly welcome from the receptionist and administrator. The care staff are always interacting with activities and make the residents smile. There is always a good atmosphere in the home. We know there is a new manager in the home
now and you can tell they are doing a good job in running the care home. I take my hat off to everyone that works there and keep up the amazing work you are doing. Thank you

Every time I see my mam she is sitting in urine, soaking wet, her fingernails disgustingly filthy and when I report it all they ever say is we have just sat her there and we are not allowed to touch her fingernails! So now they keep putting nail varnish on to cover the dirt up. Most of the carers in
this home are rude and shouldn't be there.

Although I was at first reluctant to place my wife in care, since being in Briarscroft she appears to have settled in very well, no doubt because of the attention she is receiving from all of the staff. I feel relieved that although I don't want her to be away nevertheless I am in no doubt that she
is being well looked after which gives me some form of solace.

The care workers and the whole team are outstanding here. Dad settled in but Covid the pandemic affected everyone, his health mentally did deteriorate dramatically however, excellent care all around.

Care was of the highest quality. The staff would always have time for her and would go above and beyond what was generally expected. A very modern, clean and tidy environment. The bistro area for families was a lovely addition, where we could relax and drink tea and coffee with our loved ones.

My aunt has been well cared for and I have been pleased with the care that she has received. The staff have done a brilliant job caring for her.
Unfortunately, because the home is unable to offer my aunt the medical care she needs, we have very reluctantly moved her to another home recently. We were
very sorry to have to do this.

The staff give my Dad space to be himself. He has a particular routine and they do not interrupt this. They keep a close eye on his health and make sure he is coping with his lung disorder. The male staff know his love of sport and allow him to view live sports on their phone. So very kind. Thank you.

My aunt is in the home for a 3 week respite, which I have added another few weeks to take us into the New Year. So far, I am pleased with every aspect and if she settles I will be making it permanent.

Caring and made sure Mum was safe, secure, happy, and also entertained and not just left in their room. Mum was extremely happy and she adored the activities organiser who treated her with so much respect. All staff were caring and even shed a tear the day Mum passed away.

My mother has been at Briarscroft for five years. We have found the home to be clean. The food is very good and varied. When we have had problems or complaints, management does their utmost to sort it out. The carers, on the whole, are very good but as with all workplaces, you have ups and downs but
this wouldn't deter me from recommending Briarscroft to anyone.
