Alexandra View is a 62 bedded home organised over three floors. This purpose-built home accommodates service users with general residential and nursing and Dementia residential and nursing needs on a permanent, short stay or respite basis.

My uncle appears well cared for by helpful and friendly staff. He appears settled and happy during what has been a difficult and turbulent time for everyone.

Alexandra View has been a huge support to my mother since she moved in. The staff are excellent, welcoming, approachable and helpful. I can say they have taken a great deal of stress and worry off my shoulders. My mam was in initially for an assessment, but due to how she settled in there, I didn't
want to move her in case that caused further upset. I haven't regretted that decision.

Visited my mam this afternoon at Alexandra View (within covid regulations), we hadn't seen mam for weeks due to her being in hospital with a broken hip, we didn't know what to expect, as when we rang her she would be initially tearful and missing her family, wanting to be home. Mam has never looked
so well and definitely well looked after, she took great pleasure in showing us her nails which had been manicured, the staff are so caring and this was evident throughout the visit. The staff were so accommodating and couldn't do enough for my mam or us as a family. Mam said the home was so clean and that her room was lovely.

My dad had only been in two days when they labelled him as something he is definitely not. The manager did not like our opinions, so he thought that gave him the right to play God and use my dad as a weapon against us. He said one of us could go inside and visit and the others could visit outside and
he took that away from us. So out of six of us, only one could see Dad, when there are other visitors visiting loved ones outside. His job is in the care sector when clearly caring is definitely not in his nature. The place is filthy! And I have also seen a child gate at a resident's door so they could not get out. I was so appalled by that.

All concerns are taken seriously and this has been investigated through Roseberry Care Centres Complaints Procedure and the response sent to the daughter of the resident in writing. In respect to the visiting, unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all visiting restrictions have been strictly followed as per Government and Public Health England regulations. The home has also been guided by Sunderland County Council and Roseberry Care Centres continuous risk assessment to minimise potential infection to both our residents and staff. Visiting has therefore been restricted to one nominated individual entering the home by appointment only, the success of this has been evidenced as the home has remained COVID 19 free from the commencement of the pandemic to date. I can only apologise if this caused you and your family distress but the safety of all our residents and staff must be kept a priority.

My husband seems to be happy with all the staff. There was one carer that he didn't like but that carer has now gone. The family are happy is still with you, he needs care and he certainly has it.
All the carers and staff do a brilliant job under the difficult circumstances never more so in lockdown.

My friend has been residing in Alexandra View since just before the COVID-19 pandemic started. On arrival, the staff were very welcoming and could not do enough to accommodate. I speak to my friend on her mobile often and she always has good stories to tell from her day. The staff often ring the family
with regular updates.

It's quite difficult to write an objective review as most of my mams stay has been during the Covid-19 lockdown and we haven't been able to visit.
Initial impressions of the home were very good but I do feel more could have been done to maintain contact between mam and her family, perhaps regular organised
calls or better still video call?
Maybe window visits could be arranged similar to the ones I have seen on news programs.

My mam initially went into care as she needed a hospital assessment bed after a fall. due to Covid-19 and not being able to return home, she is still in their care. When I was allowed to visit I found everything excellent. Staff were very friendly and caring to mam's needs. There were excellent activities
provided by the activities lady which brought out a marked difference in mams behaviour and attitude. I have been unable to see mam since lockdown but the carers have kept me updated on her well-being. Thank you.

It was difficult when it agreed mum would need professional care. I found staff very supportive to family as well as mum. At first, it was hard to visit knowing she would stay there. Staff were excellent reassuring me all the way and helping me, giving me a synopsis of mum's day. I am happy she is very
well cared for.

Since the takeover almost 2 years ago, there has been a huge change in how the home is run. The changes are highly positive and the staff are fantastic with my dad now. He tends to be very vocal and can make people jump. However, through this distress, other's and staff chat with him and see to all
care needs. After a short stay in the hospital, the home staff were very quick and responsive with realising his health was not good and got him the medical help needed at the time.

I understand a little better of how old and infirm people are cared for. It takes people of a special quality to undertake this difficult job of a variety of ailments to contend with. My experience visiting this care home has been an eye-opener, with some staff having the self-same problems at home
and some have illnesses themselves.
They still manage a smile and a song, maybe more staff would be helpful.
