Park View is a home which has some wonderful spaces for residents to enjoy – from a beautiful light and airy atrium, a café, as well as spacious bedrooms, with ensuite wet rooms.

It's a special home, so much so that it's been shortlisted as a finalist in the Caring UK Awards 2023, for the North Care Home of the Year category.

The team provide residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance. They are passionate about Sanctuary Care’s enriching lives framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, security and significance.

For example, many of the residents love gardening, so the home has its own vegetable plot, where they love to grow their own produce. Some residents love to cook, so the chef devotes time to running regular cookery and baking sessions.

At residents’ meetings, they discuss activities they would like to do. For example, this summer they talked about a seaside trip, so the team organised a day at Cleethorpes Beach, a destination chosen by the residents. More animal visits were wanted, so they recently welcomed Shetland ponies along.   

Other activities the residents enjoy doing include gentle exercise sessions, live music, trips out into the community and pampering in the hairdressing salon.

The team regularly take residents to the ‘Motion Games’, where they join other care home residents for mini-Olympic games. They love it so much, the team have recreated many of these activities back at the home, like bean bag throwing, parachute games and badminton.   

Many of the residents love spending time with children, so the team involve their families in the home. Staff brought their children in fancy dress for a Disney themed party recently, where they sang and danced with the residents.

There is also a private Facebook page, for families and friends of the home.

My dad wasn't into long-term care it was a huge emotional decision for us as a family to make. From the manager, desk staff, carers, and domestic staff, everyone was very welcoming. The staff listened to our worries and concerns and these were acted on, with regular communication from staff. My dad
has thrived since being in the home and that is all because of the amazing team they have here dad is loving all the attention he receives. So thank you to you all for making this journey with dad easier.

Extremely bad experience at this home, just remember that it makes your heart ache at having to place a loved one in somewhere because you are struggling at home to meet their needs, but to see a decline as we did in the first 4 weeks here was unimaginable, pressure sore, broken teeth, weight loss the
list is endless, don’t be fooled at how lovely a place looks.

Mum has lived at Park View since 2015 and has been well looked after from day 1. Severe dementia means she is completely dependent on 24-hour care now and is immobile and uncommunicative. Staff monitor her well-being closely and always report any concerns promptly. There have been several times, during
mum’s residency, when she has been considered to be at the end of life and Park View has treated us all with compassion, dignity and sensitivity. Thankfully under their constant care, she has rallied and improved. The home appears to have a good activities schedule but, unfortunately, mum can no longer participate as she did when she first became a resident. However, she does still get her hair washed, cut and dried in the on-site “salon” and enjoys the high standard of food served there.

A real warm friendly welcome. The home is warm and clean. All rooms have their own bathrooms which was a big tick for me when choosing for my mum. There is a fantastic inside-outside atrium that is used for activities and events. Staff are approachable and helpful. There is a good range of activities
and events. Communication is good but information can sometimes need chasing up. It is not always clear who the key worker is for my mum. It would be helpful if there was a way to communicate through email; information regarding activities and menus could be shared on the website so visitors can see what is happening during the week. It would be nice to be able to get some refreshments whilst visiting.

Dad appears to be well cared for and looks clean and smart. If dad has a fall I have always received a call telling me what has happened and how he is. If he has been hurt or injured, I am told of the action which has been taken. Dad seems to be happy in the home. As he has dementia, dad is unable to
tell me what he has been doing sometimes.

On August 15th my wife celebrated her 80th Birthday and on arrival, my daughter and I were greeted with a Gazebo used by visiting relatives which were decorated with bunting, a banner and a fully furnished dining table, all done by a lovely member of staff who came in on her day off. The home is clean
and has a happy atmosphere, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We cannot fault the care our Mum has received since moving into Park View in August 2020. We are always well informed by the extremely friendly staff, who are always well informed and able to answer any questions we have. My mum obviously is enjoying the food at Park View as she has gained weight. Unfortunately,
we have not been able to experience Park View without covid restrictions and we are looking forward to being able to visit without restrictions.

Park View staff loved our relative. They didn't get everything right but they never tried to cover up when things went wrong. They always cared. Our relative was challenging to care for, with multiple issues, so a good test of the system, Park View passed with flying colours.

The staff at Parkview do a wonderful job under testing conditions. Mum is always clean, tidy and well-fed and more importantly, hydrated. All staff are very approachable and will make time to discuss options, ideas and thoughts. Friendly and professionally managed. Their hard work is greatly appreciated
and it has been lovely to feel that Mum is safe despite her deteriorating condition.

Park View has continued to care well for my mum throughout these difficult times. The staff have done all they can to keep her safe and well. The all-important visits, albeit behind a screen, have been maintained when others have struggled. My mum is treated kindly and with respect. She is always clean
and nicely dressed, even with lipstick, just as she always was before succumbing to Alzheimer’s. She enjoys her food and generally looks very content. She was vaccinated very early and any health issues are always addressed promptly. I very much look forward to my twice-weekly visits and am extremely grateful to the staff who have been there for my mum.

My mum has been a resident at Park View since September 2019. The care Mum has received has been fantastic. The staff are kind, caring and the home is clean, welcoming and has a happy atmosphere.
During this pandemic, the staff have done their utmost to keep the residents safe and happy, and it's
been reassuring to know she's in such good hands. We receive photos and can see she is happy. I would definitely recommend Park View for loved ones.

My mother has been here since April and settled really well. The care is good and I'm happy with the home, staff are friendly, it's clean and safe, and I would recommend it for any of my family members/friends/or relatives. I find Park View has a welcoming, friendly and calm atmosphere at every visit. The purpose-built design works really well compared to other homes I've been involved with over the last 10 years, as it gives residents a choice of where to spend their day rather than looking at the same 4 walls or constant
TV. The meals are home-cooked and varied. The staff are really supportive to families as well as the residents, they keep you well informed and are quick to respond to any worries.

My mom only became a resident at Park View in March but even in this short period of time the change in our mom has been phenomenal and me and my two brothers put it down solely to the fantastic team at the home. Nothing is too much trouble and it’s a great peace of mind to us to know that she is happy
