Park View is a home which has some wonderful spaces for residents to enjoy – from a beautiful light and airy atrium, a café, as well as spacious bedrooms, with ensuite wet rooms.

It's a special home, so much so that it's been shortlisted as a finalist in the Caring UK Awards 2023, for the North Care Home of the Year category.

The team provide residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance. They are passionate about Sanctuary Care’s enriching lives framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, security and significance.

For example, many of the residents love gardening, so the home has its own vegetable plot, where they love to grow their own produce. Some residents love to cook, so the chef devotes time to running regular cookery and baking sessions.

At residents’ meetings, they discuss activities they would like to do. For example, this summer they talked about a seaside trip, so the team organised a day at Cleethorpes Beach, a destination chosen by the residents. More animal visits were wanted, so they recently welcomed Shetland ponies along.   

Other activities the residents enjoy doing include gentle exercise sessions, live music, trips out into the community and pampering in the hairdressing salon.

The team regularly take residents to the ‘Motion Games’, where they join other care home residents for mini-Olympic games. They love it so much, the team have recreated many of these activities back at the home, like bean bag throwing, parachute games and badminton.   

Many of the residents love spending time with children, so the team involve their families in the home. Staff brought their children in fancy dress for a Disney themed party recently, where they sang and danced with the residents.

There is also a private Facebook page, for families and friends of the home.

The staff are very caring and considerate about residents. The home is very clean, outstanding activities, entertainment very good, meals very good I can't complain about anything or anybody. Mum settled in very well and happy due to the kindness of the staff. Made good friends with residents and staff.

My wife has been resident at Park View for just over three years. Due to the manager and her entire team of loving, dedicated staff, my wife has remained stable as regards her Alzheimer's problem.
Recently, major refurbishments have been made to floors, lighting, corridors and furniture which really
makes it more like a hotel than a care home.
Quite honestly my wife couldn't be in a home with more loving, dedicated carers.

I do think that a member of the Carers Team should go with patients suffering with Alzheimer's. They don't know what is happening and can't answer questions for the doctors (going to the hospital if not well or had a fall).

My father lives at Park View. It is an excellent home for dementia sufferers.
They are cared for with dignity and empathy, My father is very happy here. It is always clean with only a small odour occasionally which is to be expected. The staff are friendly and supportive.

Laundry is very much improved. The cleanliness of hoist used to get residents out of bed and into shower leave a lot to be desired. Once a month is not enough when being used for other residents.
Meals are very good, never been a drop in standards by cooks.
Activities are minimal (when hairdressers
is classed as an activity).

My mum has been a resident at Park View since February this year and has settled in well to her new home. She is well looked after and all the staff are very caring towards my mum. The food is excellent and the activities are good. My mum especially enjoys the little trips out. The outdoor space is
good and my mum enjoys her little walks in the garden and sitting in the sunshine.
I have no hesitation in recommending Park View and have done so to numerous people.

Very happy with the care and support my Dad receives at Park View. The staff try their best despite sometimes being stretched. The facilities are great and the activities are varied and inclusive. I particularly enjoy it when they have a singer on and I can join my Dad and other residents, who all join
in as its revitalizes them.

I visited my Grandma in Park View with my two young children when she had been there for just over a month. We live overseas and the staff had really gone out of their way to encourage my Grandma to be excited about our visit. They knew who we were as soon as we walked through the door and I could instantly
see that they had been working hard to build her morale and genuinely care for her. We have spent a number of sunny afternoons in the easily-accessible garden.

The staff and management go out of their way to provide an excellent service in all aspects of her daily living.

Overall, Park View Residential Home is a very decent place for my mother to live. She is looked after well and always treated and looked after with respect.
