Shortlisted for the Caring UK Awards 2023 Midlands & Wales Care Home of the Year, Redhill Court is a very special home. It has beautiful spaces to enjoy, including a vintage tearoom, a cinema, relaxation room and welcoming lounges.

The team, many of whom have been there for over 10 years, are passionate about supporting the residents to have a very active role to play in how their home is run, giving them a sense of purpose and belonging.

Co-production is simply a way of life, with a team of resident ambassadors who love helping on reception, with gardening, maintenance and activities. This includes interviewing potential staff, showing them round their home, holding residents’ meetings and providing feedback to the home manager.

The team are passionate about enriching the residents’ lives through activities. The ‘Monday clubs’ are a shining example, where staff and relatives with specific hobbies run their own clubs with the residents. For example, there is a Lego club, flower arranging, a knitting club, cake decorating and a cooking club.

And the home’s gardening club has been such a success, lots of the residents and their families have got involved, growing vegetables, fruit and herbs, which they harvested to use in the kitchen.

And talking of food, the home’s head chef, who won Best Chef in the West Midlands Region at this year’s Sanctuary Care Chefs’ Conference (2023), cooks delicious, nutritious meals for residents. She also loves making those family celebrations extra special, with afternoon cream teas, complete with homemade scones and clotted cream, cupcakes and finger sandwiches.

The team also embrace the local community into life in the home, from school children, who sing and dance for the residents, to performances from their favourite ukulele band.

Dad says 'to be honest, I'm having the time of my life!'.
As long as he's happy, which he seems to be, then we're happy and it makes a tricky decision to move him to care a little bit easier. Thank you to all the staff for looking after Dad.

My Dad has been a resident at Redhill Court Residential Care Home for almost a year now. From the day we looked around, we were welcomed and fully informed. The staff are amazing and Dad settled really quickly. He's had a few health issues in the last few months, but the care and attention he is given,
surpasses all that we had wished for him. After losing our Mom last year, It was a very difficult decision for us to make, but Dad is now safe and happy in his new home. There are activities for residents and now, slowly, the families are able to enjoy organised days with their relatives and staff. The Jubilee celebrations were amazing. Redhill Court staff go above and beyond and care as much about the families as they do the residents. I'm so glad there was room for Dad when we needed it. We know he is being looked after.

My father in law is well looked after. He has a bright, clean room and really enjoys the food. All of the staff are so friendly. If the carers have any concerns these are swiftly passed on to the Senior Carers who if necessary involve the nurse, GP or family. We have enjoyed joining in with their recent
Jubilee celebrations and look forward to future events.

The home is a wonderful tranquil setting and my father has settled in very well in the short time he has been here. The staff are extremely professional, helpful and well mannered. Always eager to assist and relay any information to me. The home is clean and tidy.

When my nan first became a resident, she loves this home and used to tell us not to visit at certain times as she would be dancing or going out for a trip. The home itself is lovely, and the staff are very friendly and caring. I haven't personally agreed with all the restrictions since Covid, as my
nan has massively deteriorated with her dementia. I do understand they were to protect them. The only thing I would like to see is better lunch options, as my nan eats the same for most lunches.

Mom came into Redhill in November 2021 and has settled really well. Staff are very caring and attentive. Room is always clean and tidy. Food looks and smells delicious with a good variety of meals. Mom is quite a fussy eater, but she says she enjoys her food. If you notice something not right, just
ask, and the friendly staff attend quickly. I was unsure about Mim moving into a home, but I have no regrets now knowing she is happy.

My friend seems genuinely happy and settled in Redhill Court. I have noticed that her health, in general, has improved whilst being at Redhill Court. My friend is a person who, though having learning difficulties, is definite in her views and she says she is extremely happy.

My mother became a resident in 2020. I was very worried about her going into a care home having heard bad reports about some of them but I am so pleased with Redhill Court. The staff are very caring and there is lots of communication with the relatives. So many activities for the residents and an overall

Mom and dad have been residents at the care home for nearly 3 years.
We were allowed to visit today and go back into their room. It was lovely to see them looking well and happy. They were both smartly dressed it was lovely to see. Their room looked lovely and we were pleased all their things were
nice and tidy. We left the visit feeling really happy that they are being well looked after. Thank you to the manager and all the staff.

We find everybody friendly and helpful. The home is always clean and tidy. The food offered is of a very good standard. The only small problem is the gardens look in need of attention but the front lawns always look very tidy. By gardens I mean where the residents sit which looks neglected.

Outstanding home with wonderful caring staff. Mom moved in during the pandemic, we were so nervous, however, the home manager and administrator worked tirelessly to answer all our questions, put our mind at ease and, above all, ensured Mom was happy and content, nothing was too much trouble. We have
been kept informed throughout the lockdowns and every effort has been made to ensure we get to communicate with Mom! Redhill as gone above and beyond to keep Mom and all the other residents safe during this awful time, I will never be able to thank them enough

I have nothing but praise for the care my mother has received at Redhill Court through the past crisis. More is the point, she feels that she has been well cared for. The staff have done exceptionally well to keep the residents safe, well and entertained during an extremely difficult time.
My mother
has been a resident for over five years and during that time has had various medical issues, dealt with kindly and sensitively. Well done to all staff.

My mom has been at Redhill Court since December 2019, having lived previously independently. She arrived after a very stressful time in hospital and assessment, she was not in a good place physically and mentally. From the second she arrived she has genuinely experienced such kindness, care, consideration,
respect, love and fun. This has enabled her not only to return to good physical health, but also to regain her playful sense of fun. As a family, we have always felt involved and considered in all aspects of her care and we have been greatly impressed by the quality and professionalism of all staff and management.

Our Mom, who will be 100 years old in December, has been a resident at Redhill Court for 12 months. We are so happy that we chose Redhill Court to become her permanent home when she moved to Birmingham from Southampton. Everyone of the staff - management, reception, carers, housekeepers and cooks are
absolutely wonderful. The care, love and empathy that they give is excellent. Food is plentiful and prepared and cooked to a very high standard. The accommodation is comfortable and well maintained. Throughout lockdown, although feeling sad at not being able to visit Mom, we have had no worries as to how she is being cared for. All the staff have done and are doing an amazing job and are a great credit to Sanctuary. As far as we are concerned, Mom could not be in a better place and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of making it their home.

I visited Mum and Dad on 14th June and found the way the visit was carried out was extremely efficient and thoughtful.
I have always found the staff very helpful and courteous and show great care towards the residents.
I count myself, along with my family, very grateful that we found such a lovely

Sarah organises many amazing activities, including her 'Monday Club', where staff and residents' loved ones share their hobbies with the residents. There's everything from gardening and cooking to flower arranging and knitting - even a Lego club!


Sarah has linked Redhill Court with another care home, so the residents can enjoy a pen pal scheme, as well as a local school, with the children treating us to live music and drama performances, taking part in craft sessions and watching outside entertainers with the residents.
There is music galore, with everything from an adult ukelele group to staff setting up the home’s cinema room so that it feels like the residents are going out to see a concert.


She will organise trips out for lunch to a nearby Sanctuary Care home for residents to socialise and do pamper sessions and nail painting in the home’s sensory room.
