My young adult brother attended for a brief period to give my parents some well-earned rest. The manager and the team were incredible and totally understood his bespoke needs and cared for him superbly. Lovely room and facilities, great food and superb staff.

My husband has been a resident since October 2019. He has short term memory issues and the staff are always considerate in answering his questions and keeping him informed and in a positive frame of mind. His surroundings are quiet and picturesque. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff go above
and beyond. I am in awe of their attentiveness and appreciate their efforts in all areas of his care.

My son used the respite care service at Ullswater and he was extremely well looked after. The organising before the visit by the manager and deputy was extensive but very easy and all to make his stay as comfortable as possible. The staff were very attentive and provided everything that he wanted. The
choice of food was excellent and he said it tasted really good.
He was made to feel very welcome and loved the fact that staff called in to see him very regularly to check he was OK and whether he wanted anything. This was the first time we have used respite care and will certainly be using it again.

My mother is a resident and it's a blessing to know how well she is being looked after by the manager and his team. They really show compassion and empathy and always go above and beyond to assist, not only my mum but the family as well. They always add a special touch when it comes to events like birthdays
or Christmas and make it personal. Thank you so much for everything you have all done.

My dad has been in this facility since October 2019. I’ve been so pleased with how they look after him and keep the family included, constantly. They have a great personalised programme, allowing him to get the best for his needs and the food is amazing. Set in lovely grounds, with lots of windows so
they can see all the wildlife. This last year, the COVID measures have been incredible, allowing us to safely visit when possible. Keep up the good work.

My brother has been a resident since October 2019 and I'm very happy with the level of care he has received. The facilities which are situated in a pleasant location are clean, spacious and well equipped. The staff is always welcoming and obviously appreciates the difference that receiving visitors
can make to their residents' well being. Currently, I'm reassured to witness the stringent control measures that have been put in place to protect residents and staff against Covid-19. through every circumstance, I can see that the staff have sought to respect my brother's preferences and wishes whilst keeping him healthy, safe, and buoyant.

Our sister was the first resident to move into this care home! Her needs and levels of care have obviously increased over the years. The necessary equipment, staffing and safety measures have been put in place as required. The Manager is always approachable. She has used initiative and empathy into
making life comfortable for my sister. Patient and caring staff and thanks to the Chefs for providing healthy delicious vegetarian meals. The team always give the warmest welcome to family and friends. They are ready to answer any questions and encourage suggestions.

From the moment my son arrived in November 2019, we have been very impressed with the staff. They are extremely supportive and sympathetic and want to help his recovery as much as they can. Already the difference in his overall health has been remarkable, which has enabled him to be more alert and his
progress is fantastic. The home is always spotless and set in lovely grounds.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.125)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.125) out of 10 for Ullswater Cottage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Ullswater Cottage is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ullswater Cottage is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 10 registered maximum number of service users is 2, which has been reached with 2 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
