The staff are all incredible-kind, caring, patient, engaging, positive, friendly and professional. They can not do enough to look after the residents.
They have looked after my dad and have been so accommodating to all his family when they come to visit.
The staff all go above and beyond for the residents.

Very caring, happy and friendly environment. My dad has settled really well, all his needs are catered for with no problem. I can access management at any time if I want a chat and I am also kept informed of anything that involves my dad. I have complete trust in them looking after my precious dad or
I wouldn’t have him live there.

Since Mum moved into Coniston house she has been really well cared for by all the staff and myself and my brothers appreciate the high standards of resident care set by the whole team. We had the opportunity to visit other care homes, however, the overall standards we saw in Coniston along with meeting
the management team convinced us that this was the best option for Mum. Obviously, It has taken my Mum a few months to settle into the home as she had lived on her own for a number of years, however with the comfortable resident rooms, good choice of wholesome food at meal times and also the numerous activities organised by the staff has resulted in Mum being much more settled recently and to the extent she now participates in many of these activities. Overall myself and my brothers are very pleased and have full confidence in Coniston in all aspects of Mum's care and we have no hesitation in recommending this care home based on our positive experience.

After visiting my husband here for 18 months, I can’t sing the praises of the management and staff loud enough! If any care home deserves 5 stars and a score of 10 out of 10 it surely has to be Coniston House. The home is spotless, homely and all residents are cared for with love and affection. There
are so many activities as well as regular visits from singers, and residents are actively encouraged to participate. It has given me peace of mind knowing that my husband is safe and well looked after here. Thank you everyone.

As a new resident, my dad has struggled with the change and his feelings of lost independence. The staff have been absolutely excellent. His needs have been continually assessed and his care plan tweaked accordingly to make it right for him and us. Staff have been incredibly supportive of me as a daughter
making difficult decisions and have always made me feel so welcome to visit or call.
Everyone, including senior staff, management and administration staff has such positive interactions with the residents - everybody in there is working hard to make life as fulfilling as possible for the guests living there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Coniston to any family who is looking for a care home for a loved one with dementia. Thank you to everyone for all that you do.

With the summer now upon us the staff have had all residents who want to be out in the garden for activities and sunshine, this has been a real boost for my dad as he loves the garden and has been a real lift to his outlook.

Mum has been at Coniston House Care Home for eighteen months and in that time she has been really settled. Mum has enjoyed lots of outings as well as entertainment which has been put on for the residents. The staff and management work really hard to give the residents a really good experience. Mum has
made lots of friends and she is very active, visiting the other residents. I think Coniston House is excellent. Well done to the whole team!

Coniston House Care Home is a fabulous home. The care and dedication of all the staff are excellent. They all go above and beyond to make my mum feel loved and at home. They are not only kind and supportive to residents but to families as well. Always going that extra mile. It's always a pleasure visiting

Can't compliment this home enough. These carers are exceptional, the care, love and kindness they show to each and every resident are amazing. The home itself is very homely and comfortable, but it's the staff that really makes it for me. They are so welcoming and very much a big family environment,
nothing is too much trouble for them.

As a family, we were nervous about my husband going into care. We had nothing to worry about, the whole team worked with us and, of course, my husband so he settled in quickly. The home is wonderful, so much going on for the residents, kind and caring staff who really do look after him. This is a wonderful
home and my husband's quality of life is greatly improved. The home is filled with fun and laughter and we can't thank you enough for the care and understanding you have given my husband.

Coniston House Care Home provides an excellent service to its residents. My stepfather has been residing there now for nearly five years and he’s really happy and content. There are plenty of activities and the staff are great. You hear such negative stories about how other homes are not letting visitors
in still after Covid but Coniston handled it brilliantly and kept everyone safe whilst still letting us visit our loved ones. Thanks to all the staff.

Coniston House Care Home continues to provide a first-class service for the residents, my mother being one. It presents with excellent, caring staff who often go above and beyond to care for the residents, it is always super clean and tidy with all the residents looking happy with their many needs being

My wife has been a resident at Coniston House Care Home since 2013. During that time she has always received the very best of care from the management and care staff. Myself and my daughter are extremely grateful to all concerned at Coniston House Care Home for the duty of care they show towards my
wife. She always has a smile on her face showing how relaxed she is. Because of her state of mind with the dementia, she doesn’t show any recognition but the fact that she is happy means so much to us both. I have no hesitation in recommending Coniston House Care Home as an excellent care facility.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.418)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.418) out of 10 for Coniston House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.904 for Coniston House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.904

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.514 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coniston House Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.814

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Donna Marsden

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

I have worked in social care for over 30 years. Starting off as a Carer in a small residential home, I have progressed through the ranks as a Senior carer and then Deputy Manager.

My first role as a registered Manager was in 2007 and since then I have gained a wide range of experience within the care sector from small companies to the larger cooperative ones.

I have completed NVQs at levels 2 3 4, the Registered Managers award and a certificate in Leadership and Management.

Before starting work with Rochcare I was employed as a Peripatetic Manager travelling around the Country.

I enjoy working in Chorley, as it is my home town and I get job satisfaction knowing I am providing a safe and high standard of care for my local community who live with Dementia.

Kirsty

Kirsty Thompson

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I have worked at Coniston House for 5 years, starting here as a senior carer, I was then promoted into a Team leader position in 2016. And in October I was promoted to Deputy Manager.

I am very passionate about the level of care that we give and also the progress that the home has made. I've worked closely alongside the previous Deputy and the Manager, supporting them in the general day to day running of the home.

I attend regular training sessions keeping my knowledge and skills up to date, I also achieved a NVQ level 5 management and leadership award last year.

I am the home’s medication champion, providing and ensuring the safe practice of administration of medications. I train and update senior staff our systems, ensuring competency assessments are in place for administering medication.

Coniston House is beautiful caring home,

I am proud to be part of the team.

Vivien

Vivien Holland

Job Title: Activity Coordinator

I have worked at Coniston for almost 4 years starting as a Care Assistant. A year ago, I was asked if I would change my role to that of activities coordinator, this has been one of the best decisions I have made.

I attend pre-admission assessments with the Managers to introduce myself to the residents and their Families before they come into the home, letting them know about all the wonderful activities we do here.

I am passionate about providing person-centred activities to our Residents and in turn promoting the home. All the Residents and staff have lots of ‘Bright Moments’ at Coniston.

As well as the day to day in house activities such as the choir, bingo afternoons armchair exercises and pampering we also have weekly trips to the supermarket and the pub.

We also hold lots of fund-raising events and anything raised contributes to the bigger outings, for example, The Farm, The seaside, and local Pantomime.

Jane

Jane Green

Job Title: Care Assistant

I have worked at Coniston House for over 9 years, starting as a night carer.
I decided after a while that I would like to apply for the day carer role that had become available.

However, not long afterwards I started working in the kitchen as a cook.
I soon realised that I was missing the interaction with the residents by being in the kitchen, so I decided to return to care.

I know now that working within the social care industry is where I want to be, so I am currently undergoing training for more of a senior role. I would love to take on more responsibility and training in the skills required for medication administration.

I feel that I am a very caring individual and I am passionate about my job, caring and interacting with the residents is the favourite part of my job. I find the whole aspect of social care extremely rewarding.

I am currently completing my NVQ Level 3 in social care.
