Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home is a purpose built, 56-bedroom home, committed to the highest standards of care and service, within a friendly and happy family run home. The home is rated Outstanding in caring and Good Overall by CQC (April 2022).

The aim is to provide the highest level of care in a dignified and compassionate way, with the best facilities and equipment in a comfortable home with trained experienced staff. There is a full and diverse activities programme for the residents put on throughout the home, providing many opportunities to socialise, participate and pursue their own interests. Outside there are beautiful, landscaped gardens and courtyards planted with year-round colour which are accessed by level, flat paths.

Qualified nurses and trained carers try and improve the quality of life for those who have chosen to live at the home. The approach is not one routine fits all, but rather a more personal care plan that makes allowances for the individuals' needs and concerns. The residents are at the centre of the home helping to create the Chef's menu's and choosing the activities programme. Everyone at Hill House wants the residents to be well cared for, happy and enjoy living at Hill House.

Mum came into Hill House following two falls and two stays in the hospital, where we were recommended to find Nursing Care. It was a stressful time and we were fortunate after the recommendation, that Mum was comfortably accommodated at Hill House.
The Nursing and Care staff looked after Mum so well
in spite of her frailty and the complexities of Dementia and Alzheimers. Communication was excellent and we couldn't have asked for more care and support.

We have been delighted with the care and attention shown by Hill House. My mother moved to the home in December 2021 and has received love and attention on a 24/7 basis. Her condition is one which requires nursing care. Her communication ability is very limited. The nursing and care team have been extremely
understanding and she is clearly contented. We have no complaints whatsoever. From a family point of view, we are very happy with the home. The staff are particularly attentive and helpful - reassuringly, they do not 'sugar-coat' their advice. Daily activities are worth a special mention - all varied and focussed on providing maximum benefit to the residents. All family members receive a weekly newsletter containing photos of all the residents, clearly having a good time.

I cannot sing the praises of this nursing home enough.


While searching for somewhere for my father to live, I started to become a bit disillusioned and felt that all nursing care was pretty much the same.


On discovering Hill House, I soon realised that this was not the case. It was the only

place I found that didn't use agency staff so the continuity of care is exceptional. My father sees the same people every day rather than having a constantly changing stream of staff passing through. The staff make an enormous effort to get to know every resident and always welcome information from relatives that will help them enjoy their time there. If there are ever issues or concerns they are quickly addressed and dealt with. There are multiple activities daily and regular email updates. It's extremely welcoming and I would recommend it to anyone. I can't thank the staff enough for their care and incredible hard work.

A great home with lots of activities for the residents and plenty of care and support for both the social and health aspects. My mother-in-law has settled in very quickly and, at almost 98, appears to be thriving!

I can't fault the care that Hill House and Farnham Mill have provided to my father for the last few months. He has been going into the home regularly for respite care and has always been extremely accommodating to him. The communication between the home and myself has been outstanding and always keeps
me and the rest of my family in the loop. They have also been extremely careful with Covid precautions.

All of the staff are extremely caring and their help has enabled me to get back on my feet again. The food is of a good standard and the supply of tea or coffee if you wish is endless. The owner is a frequent visitor, talking and listening to both residents and staff which for me is a very positive

Needed to get my 94 year old Mum into care after four falls in five days. Looked at Hill House just along the road and they were extremely helpful in smoothing the transition from hospital to their care. Since then everyone at the home has assisted to make Mum feel at home. Unlike some homes, there
are no foul smells. Everywhere is clean, bright and airy. All the staff are cheerful and will do anything to help, even when Mum is having a bad day they always try to cheer her up. For the past few years during lockdown Mum was confined to her bungalow and sleeping most of the day, sometimes not even bothering to dress. Now she has a routine and the wonderful entertainments girls get her involved in several activities providing much extra stimulation lacking before. From being an independent person Mum has found it very difficult to ask for the help she now needs. All the staff, without exception, are there to help, are considerate, and have made Mum feel welcome and safe. Thank you.

Deteriorating circumstances forced me to search for a good nursing home to care for my Mother and my Stepfather. The hospital my Stepfather was being discharged from made clear that he needed nursing care with hoist facilities. Hill House has so much more. The nursing staff are properly trained professionals
who are dedicated in making life as happy and pleasant as it can be for its residents. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, always there at a push of the button. It is a bright and light building with lovely decor and lots of pictures everywhere. I receive regular reviews about the activities with photos, organised in the home, as well as reports about the medical wellbeing of both parents. Very reassuring. I feel very content that I have found a lovely home for them both at 99yrs of age with lovely people to look after them.

With daily help, l was able to care for my wife at home until her Alzheimer’s reached quite an advanced stage. Eventually, l realised that she needed more care and physical assistance than l could provide at home so after some research and a visit to Hill House we decided that she should become resident
there. She moved in at the end of April and has settled in well so far as l can tell. The staff at all levels are very caring and were only too willing to help us celebrate our Diamond Wedding in June with a cake and a small tea party. With a continuing deterioration in her mobility, cognitive powers and general health my wife has recently moved to a room in the nursing area where l am sure she is being well looked after. Despite Covid restrictions l have been able to visit her daily and for that l am very grateful.

I would recommend Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home without any reservation. The care my mother received was excellent - it was personal, kind, consistent and highly skilled, and there was always fun when she needed a lift. She loved all the activities put on by the events team, to the point that
she ditched her afternoon rest immediately on moving in so as not to miss anything! When she declined and spent increasing time in bed, she continued to be supported with visits and company. I often found someone in her room on my arrival, perhaps reading bits from the newspaper or chatting. We were so grateful for the expert nursing care she received during the last weeks, for their deep expertise, calm and kindness. We had been torn over her remaining in her own home with full time carers or moving her into a nursing home - as matters turned out, she simply could not have received the same standard of care in her own home, as she needed the specialist nursing.

My mum came to Hill House in April last year after a spell in Hospital and falls at home.
On my first visit, I knew myself and my siblings had made the right decision with Hill House.
Her room is amazing, and she has put on a stone in weight!
The staff are all amazing, and the care they give to my
mum is second to none!
Mum tells people she is living in a hotel!!!
The activities are amazing, as are the team. There is always something going on.
Myself and my family are really impressed with everything at Hill House.
Mum is very happy and settled living there. She has never once asked to come home.

I had a connection with Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home through a previous family member who had been a resident, but on this occasion had to arrange care for a terminally ill friend. Nothing was too much trouble! The staff were delightful and fully informed, always making efforts to contact me
with concerns and speak with me if visiting. These things can never be easy, and given the prognosis, my friend was made to feel comfortable until the very end. The expertise and thorough manner in how his case was handled, meant that medication was administered in such ways, that pain was avoided and dignity was kept at all times. It is a very special place, with special people, from the nurses to the managers. A home with real heart and soul!

I was very impressed with the care and compassion shown to my father in the short time he was at the nursing home. It was a very difficult time and the staff were very attentive and friendly towards my sister and myself. I would like to thank the liaison manager for the support she gave me for what

The care that my mother received at Hill House was outstanding. The staff show great diligence and sensitivity, caring for both her emotional and physical needs. I felt she was kept safe during the pandemic, and great care was taken to maintain this. The home has a lovely atmosphere of kindness and
respect, with experienced staff whom you felt you could trust and who offered us such professional advice at what was a very difficult time for us as a family. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hill House to anyone.

My mother has been a resident of Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home for three months and we can't believe the difference its made to her! In her previous home she spent two and a half years never leaving her room. Being partially sighted she resisted joining activities, dining or mixing with the other
residents.
My mother then spent 9 months with me where although there was some interaction with carers Mum was very quiet, listening to stories but couldn't watch tv or nor wanted to mobilise in the house.
Needing more consistent care mum went to Hill House where we expected her to stay in her room, but staff have made her feel confident and trusting. She joins in activities and takes her meals in the dining room. The communication is good. The activities staff send photos which I can show my family. The nursing staff also send updates on her care. She is happy and contented, praising the food and staff and is having a quality of life that we next expected her to have in this bright cheerful place.

It was with reluctance that I left Hill House after a stay of 4 months. I arrived there as a respite patient which became long term for necessity and when it was established this was the case I sought care nearer to close family 35 miles distant.
I was indeed sorry to take leave of the dedicated carers
and nursing staff together with so many other members of the administrative team including the ever-obliging catering and housekeeping staff and activities leaders.

I entered Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home during the first two weeks of November for respite care after a major operation. I was treated with the utmost kindness and care by all the staff. The accommodation is of an excellent standard, spotlessly clean and well maintained. Food was provided in
my room or in the dining room as I desired, and I was able to choose alternatives to the menu if there was something I did not want. I needed very little nursing care other than to clean up my operation wound which was efficiently dealt with. Activities are well run and there is always something to keep the residents busy if they so desire. Overall I can not rate this home more highly.

Since Mum has moved to Hill House Nursing and Dementia she seems more like her old self again. Each time I visit she is happy and tells me about the various activities that she has enjoyed over the past week. She is very complimentary about all the staff saying that they are very kind and can't do enough
for her. She enjoys the good food too and I am confident that she is safe and well looked after. I find all the staff very professional to deal with and I am also impressed with their Covid-19 precautions which they take very seriously.

My sister was very well looked after by an extremely caring and committed staff for a period of approximately ten weeks. The premises are well maintained, facilities well kept and maintained in a clean condition, lounge, dining and communal areas are furnished to a good clean standard and external garden
well maintained for the enjoyment and well being of residents.
Bedrooms are well furnished with individual bathroom facilities and the whole home well laid out. The quality of the food is also very good.

I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at the Royal Free Hospital when I assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd following my mother's retirement in 1998.


I am immensely proud of the standards of care we achieve and the family ethos and feel which runs through the heart of our homes.

My role is incredibly rewarding. I am part of a massive life changing decision that is incredibly personal and needs to be made with confidence. I think of myself as a guide for families and individuals during this new chapter of their life.


I help support with any questions and concerns but what I love most is every day I get to meet new people, hear their life stories and build great relationships with them and their families. Once they have moved in it is a joy to watch our residents thrive and enjoy life, loved ones too.

My name is Nicoleta Apostu and I am the Senior Nurse and Clinical Lead at Hill House. I joined Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd in 2016, after working in a number of other nursing homes previously. I was drawn to Hill House because of its reputation for delivering outstanding care.

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.

In addition to my kitchen duties, I also manage the chefs' table and cooking club at both Farnham Mill and Hill House. It’s my passion to encourage our residents to explore their culinary skills and creativity, ensuring that we keep that spirit alive together.
