The environment in The Springfield House Care Home is very warm and inviting. Staff are all excellent, lovely, caring manner. Mam has been settled here. The service Mam received is excellent.

Since a second member of staff has been employed for well-being, there has been a great improvement in the amount of activities on offer to the residents. This has changed the whole atmosphere of the home and is definitely what my mum needs. She is no longer able to occupy herself, and in the past or
on days when there is nothing going on she gets bored, leading to low mood. I am very pleased that the well-being team is now starting to work at weekends, which was always a very quiet time with nothing going on.

My aunt stayed for two weeks of respite care because of work being carried out in her home. We found the facilities to be first class, with friendly, attentive staff available at all times. Rooms are bright and airy, food is good with plenty of choice, and relatives are able to discuss residents' care
at any time.
Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Mother was looked after really well, she enjoyed being here and thought of it as her second home. She liked the banter with the staff and enjoyed many laughs with them. Mum was treated very well with dignity and care.

The move into care has been difficult for my mother, but I am delighted that she appears settled now. Recently she has started to engage with staff and other residents and is taking part in activities. Everyone in the home has been wonderful and I would like to thank them for taking such good care of
my mother!

The care home is a safe and secure building for the residents. There are multiple choices for meals every day and activity day on Tuesday's coffee morning, which is well attended. Staff are attentive to residents and nothing seems to be a bother, everyone is well catered for. When we visit we are made
welcome and kept informed of Mother-in-law's progress. There are other activities that take place, but do not know if well attended by residents. Overall, our family are very pleased with the care and set up of Springfield House.

My mam was a resident at Springfield House from May 2023. The staff were wonderful with my mam. The home has a lovely, open, welcoming feel to the place and it gave our family great comfort that she was in such a warm and friendly setting. Unfortunately, Man's dementia deteriorated significantly so
she was unable to remain at Springfield House. During the time that Mam was transitioning to her new setting, the staff at Springfield House were fantastic, even though my mam had developed some challenging changes due to her dementia.

I've been thoroughly impressed by the standards of the home in Low Fell and the dedication of the staff that work there. My interactions, although brief, led me to believe that my mother's needs were taken care of. The surroundings, the staff and the caring attitude everyone showed really left a lasting
impression. My elderly mum was always smiling, so I knew she was happy there, and a happy Mum equals a happy daughter! Thanks so much.

My mum moved into Springfield at the end of April for respite care with the view if she was happy, she could stay. I live in a small village in Nottinghamshire, so I’m quite far away, so to know she’s safe, well looked after and, above all, happy makes such a difference. She’s mixing and making friends,
and the carers are fantastic.
It was the best thing we, as a family, did for her, so thank you.

My father-in-law has received excellent care since coming into the home in March. The staff are caring and compassionate. We have been kept up to date with changes in his condition as they arise. My wife and I visited my friend of 50 years. We were impressed by how friendly the staff were. Also, there was a happy, friendly atmosphere. I have to say everything looked and smelled lovely. We were treated to coffee and biscuits. You felt the staff really care, and we felt reassured our friend was
safe and happy. I asked my friend if he would want to leave, and he said very firmly "No", I am very happy here. Thank you.

Overall, an excellent facility which provides a safe and secure environment for residents. The staff are excellent, and everything is extremely well organised.
The atmosphere in the home is always pleasant and spotlessly clean.
The only negative has been a lack of activities for my mother to participate
in, which would have been beneficial to my mother's circumstances.

This is the third time Mum has been for respite whilst we went on holiday. The girls are fantastic with her; she loves being there. The food is really good, and there are always activities to do and new friends to make. I would recommend the care home to everyone. Nothing is too much trouble.

The most important thing to me is care, support and being treated with dignity. I think all the staff are excellent. The carers are excellent and look after my mum with compassion, empathy and humour and treat her with dignity at all times. I have every confidence in the senior staff dealing with medication
and referrals. The housekeepers are efficient and caring, as are the laundry staff. Activities have been limited, and I understand this is mainly because of Covid.

Both our parents were residents in Springfield House for several years before they passed away, and the care and attention they received from the staff was tremendous, especially over the worst moments of Covid, when the carers must have been under tremendous pressure. Both Mum and Dad had intermittent
emergency hospital visits, and the team would always attend with them so that they wouldn't be on their own. They made what were always very stressful times that little less stressful because we knew Mum and Dad were in safe, caring hands.

Dad going into care during Covid was a very worrying and difficult time. Staff facilitating video calls and then pod visits helped enormously. Dad was extremely happy there and loved the food. Can't thank you enough for the love and care shown to him and to us at the end of his life.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“To me kindness treating people as individuals, respecting views of others, promoting independence, promoting dignity and privacy. Always have a listening ear time for others.”


As a Health Care Professional, Dawn has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked in the care sector for many years, Dawn closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Dawn remarked:


“It is great seeing a service grow and improve, working with Colleagues to develop in their careers and making Residents feel part of a big family and having a say in their care.”


Dawn has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievements being losing a significant amount and participating in an empowering photoshoot to celebrate!


Outside of work, Dawn enjoys holidaying in her caravan off the boarders of Scotland and spending time with her family and 3 dogs.
