Park View, part of First Care Homes is an attractive modern, purpose-built care home, providing residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 61 elderly people. Close to local transport and amenities, it is just one mile away from Ipswich, the bustling county town of Suffolk.

Park View is nestled within attractive landscaped gardens, with a large glass frontage which provides fantastic views of the gardens and overlooking Chantry Park. As well as a comprehensive activities programme, Park View has a surround sound cinema, a therapy room offering aromatherapy along with a library, activity kitchen, Bistro, residents own garden, balconies and terraces. All bedrooms have ensuite wet room, telephone, flat screen TV with Freeview and Sky channels.

Park View also offers residents a private dining room for special occasions including family functions.

Nan has settled in well to Park View Care Home after being in hospital.
I think Nan likes it there, she will get on well and make new friends.
Staff are nice and friendly and caring to Nan.
Food is nice every day.

Staff were very supportive, accommodating and kindly throughout the latter stages of my father-in-law's terminal cancer. They took a personal interest in him that went far beyond carrying out their paid duties.

My Mother-in-law has settled in very well. The staff are very friendly, helpful and have allowed her to take part in lots of activities and have encouraged her to keep up with the hobbies that she has always enjoyed such as knitting, assisted cooking and singing. There was a wonderful programme of activities
leading up to Christmas such as the Christmas bazaar, carol singing, visits from the local scouts, culminating with the 'Park View's got talent' final. Everyone is very caring.

I am here, short-term, for respite care after a fall with subsequent operation and time in hopsital. I have to wear a leg brace for up to six weeks, restricting knee-joint movement but with some mobility. Park View is a well appointed, bright, spacious house with good facilities. All staff are cheerful,
attentive, patient, friendly and compassionate despite the challenges they face. Unlike some fellow residents, I have mobility with a walking frame and attend to all personal care apart from showering and lower body dressing and undressing. The help I ask for is provided well and efficiently. My room is comfortable and large enough for a short term stay. Catering is excellent with variety. Food well prepared, appetising, nourishing and sufficient.
Little contact with management re: daily routines etc. I feel settled here and have good rapport with all staff and residents alike and enjoy their company.

It was very difficult having to place my father in nursing care. However, my family and I are becoming used to not having him at home as we could not be happier with the care he is receiving. He is very settled and the staff, each and every one of them, make him feel happy and well looked after. They
are each so caring and genuinely concerned for my father's care. The home is lovely, the residents are lovely. We all feel relaxed and happy with the level of care he is receiving.

I am disabled from long-term effects from Polio and can no longer walk. I am 82 years of age and contracted Polio when I was 18. The first two days at Park View Care Home were traumatic because of the unavailability of a stand-up hoist. I was moved from bed to armchair and vice versa by means of a conventional
sling which was both tiring and uncomfortable. This meant that I was unable to get access to either the toilet or a commode. Mainly because the commode was too narrow for me to use it. The situation did not improve until my wife brought my own body belt from home so that I could then benefit by using the stand-up hoist to access the bathroom. My own carers at home also use a particular brand device to move me from bed to armchair but none seemed to be available at "Park View". Despite my advance request for 2 metal bed frames (one each side of the bed,) only one was available, which made it difficult to turn over or adjust my sleeping or sitting position easily. The carers were friendly, helpful and supportive but because of the poor organisation by the time my assisted washing and dressing were complete, my cooked breakfast was often either cold or tepid. Tea and suppers were also tepid on occasion. Finally, I very much appreciated the kindness of two of the carers who gave me a bath on my last day there (a far easy task for them!)

I apologise that you felt the equipment we had was not suitable for you to use. From the review, I understand the equipment was not available at the time so we have now invested in some additional equipment to prevent this reoccurring. We record all the temperatures of the foods we serve which were all correct but in light of your comments I have asked our Head Chef to monitor our room service to ensure we maintain our high standards of meal service at all times.
I am pleased you found our staff and the facilities excellent as we always strive to provide high-quality care in an excellent environment.

My father was a resident for 4 months and receives the highest level of care whilst there. He was treated with dignity and respect and staff were very patient at all times. During the time leading up to his death, the staff communicated with us at all times so that we were aware of what was happening.
I have the highest opinion of the care given by the staff. Excellent!

Mum was only a resident for three months before she sadly passed away, but during that time she received excellent care from all the staff. Her room was very comfortable and clean. the food was exceptional, the facilities for socialising were excellent and the nursing/care staff were patient, kind,
caring and supportive not only to mum but also to me. The general ambience of this home is excellent more like a five-star hotel! I could not have asked for a better environment for mum during her last days "Highly recommended " does not seem sufficient praise! Thank you.

My father was a resident at Parkview for two years. During that time he received excellent care. His life was enhanced by the staff - all of them from the cleaning team to the nursing team. He was treated with respect, kindness and love. He was confined to his room but not lonely as the team popped
in during the day to chat to him, read the paper, talk about football. He was in a safe, loving home and we are very grateful for their efforts.

I can only endorse my 98 year old mothers words about Park View "they are so caring and genuine". All staff are very friendly and speak to you whenever you visit. The medical team discuss matters and keep you informed.


The homes attention to detail is outstanding and nothing is too much trouble.

Food is excellent and if it's not on the menu they will do their very best to provide it.


Many elude to service and customer first but few provide it, Park View however fully delivers on both I cannot speak highly enough of Park View.

My aunt feels safe, the staff are very friendly and caring. There is plenty of freshly home cooked food and very pleasant surroundings. The gardens are very well kept. The staff are very respectful and treat my aunt with dignity. Everywhere is very clean and clothes are laundered daily. I would recommend.

Our mother was admitted to Park View Care Home, Ipswich in a very weak state and in fact only survived another 5 weeks. However during that time, the care and support that she was given could not have been bettered. She was made very comfortable and received all the help and support that she needed.
Likewise, this help and support was also extended to us, her family. The staff were also very good in listening to the family and dealing with our questions or concerns. We are very grateful that our mother was able to spend her last few weeks of life in which a lovely place.

I have been working in health and Social Care services for over 30 years. My career has covered many interesting areas from emergency care, acute services, community nursing, qualifying as a district nurse and management. I made the transition to care home management in 2012.


I really enjoy working with people and what I love about this role is I can make a difference, ensuring that each of our residents is supported as an individual with dignity and respect. I love working with the care home team to support our residents as partners to fulfil their lifestyle choices, revisiting hobbies and developing new passions and lived experiences. Importantly, time to have fun and time to reflect.


I truly believe in a ‘hands on' approach working with the team and residents delivering quality care with compassion.
