My father lived at Albemarle Court Care Home for approximately two and a half years until his death in January 2025. Over that time I visited my father approximately 100 times and always found my father to be well cared for, warm, fed and medicated. The staff are very friendly and helpful even though
my father could be difficult at times. My father was in safe hands until he passed away at the age of 94. I would recommend Albemarle Court Care Home to anyone looking for care in their final years.

I have a family member who is at present a resident at the care home. I visit often and have spent quite a lot of time sitting in and observing the activities both of the staff and the residents. The staff are really caring. Attentive at all times. The residents all have all en-suite bedrooms and in
the morning they are brought down to the communal room. Television refreshments and activities for those who want them. Clean the care home and the residents are always dressed and treated with dignity.
I found a place in the care home by chance, on the internet, a phone call then in two days settled in. All I can say is I am really satisfied with my choice and so is my family member.

My mum was at Albemarle court for over five years until she passed away in February after a long battle with dementia. I found the care she received was very good, with caring staff who go above and beyond in her last weeks as she was struggling to eat and drink due to her illness. The staff took the
care, time and patience trying to get her to eat and drink. I know she was comfortable and looked after as I used to visit her twice a day and found all the staff friendly and professional. I would like to thank all the staff and management for what you did for my mum and also for the compassion from you all after she passed away.

When my dad was first moved to Albemarle Court, I was slightly concerned as the facilities are not as well appointed as his previous care homes. However, within days the idea of decor or in-house amenities playing any role in his experience seemed completely irrelevant and admittedly a bit misguided
on my part.
My dad has been treated with care and kindness by every member of staff and I can't thank them enough for the compassion and dignity they have shown him. Not only has every member of staff treated my dad as a whole person (rather than simply a person with a diagnosis) they have approached his unpredictable and occasionally extreme behavior as a challenge or a puzzle to explore, rather than a problem.
The inclusive environment and the welcoming community approach has helped me and my family manage what is an extremely difficult time for all of us as a collaboration, with my dad's care, well-being and best interests at its centre -something that we are so grateful for.

Thank you for your honest opinion. We have taken the challenge of looking after your dad and totally agree it has been a challenge. As you are aware there were very few homes wanting that challenge until we were approached by the social workers. Happy that you are happy with all our strategies and care given. Our home may have limited outdoor space and lounge spaces as we are a small care home but we make up for any deficiencies in our limited environment by providing the person-centred care needed to meet the needs of our residents.

My father moved here from a home he was in for years.
The management said he would be well looked after, and his disability would be managed and cared for. (He was paralysed on his left side).
After 2 weeks it was noticeable that his well-being had diminished considerably.
Two weeks later they phoned
me to say he wasn't eating or drinking, I said you cannot just put a plate of food and a cup of lemon juice next to him. Give him a can of 'pop' he can just pick up, and something 'snacky' that he can help himself too.
That seemed too much for them.
He ate the little things I brought him (small sausage rolls, jaffa cakes), and drank the cans of pop.
A week later I saw him, and he was so weak, I had to pour the drink into his mouth.
He died shortly after.
I do not expect staff to feed him, but they said they were aware of his needs when clearly they were not.
Carers have a very difficult job, and the vast majority do it very well. But i would think twice before sending your family here.

Thank you for your review. Please accept our condolences at the sad passing of your father last year. We are sad to see your dissatisfaction with how you believe your father was treated poorly by our staff and management team. We guarantee that your father was treated fairly during his time with us and understand the concerns you had regarding his nutrition. At the time, your father's health was in decline and our staff tried very hard to feed him and keep him hydrated throughout the day, however, the time came when your father was refusing to eat/drink and by nature, we cannot force feed our residents as this goes against their wishes and can also be detrimental to their health. I hope you understand our response and we thank you for you raising your concerns, as this will help us improve our service going forward.

My father spent the last few months of his life at Albermarle Court. The care he received was wonderful. The home manager and her team showed nothing but professionalism, kindness and care throughout. His room was spotless and overlooked the well-stocked garden. We do not live locally, but knowing he
was in such a place gave the family peace of mind, particularly at the end. I cannot recommend this home highly enough.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.871)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.871) out of 10 for Albemarle Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.851 for Albemarle Court is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.851

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.02 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albemarle Court is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.2 = 0.645

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
