Manton Heights Care Home is nestled in a popular residential area of Bedford.

Having arrived in September and after not being cared for properly at another care home, my Mother has settled in very well at Manton Heights. The standard and comparisons between the two homes are very noticeable. The proactive manager and his team are very friendly, caring, helpful and approachable.
The level of care and kindness they show to all residents, not just my mother, is exceptional. Communication is excellent and regular relative meetings are held. My mother's room is bright, clean and airy. The dining area is very well laid out in restaurant style when in use and there is a lovely separate lounge, which has recently been refurbished. There are activities for those who wish to join in and an on-site hairdressing facility.

Caring good staff with plenty going on. Friendly office staff and management are helpful. Kept up to date with all things. Home is clean and good food. Always welcome to visit with no restrictions on visits. Big room so if you want to, you can remain private.

My mother was very happy and settled most of the time during the 5 years she lived at Manton Heights. Her end of life care was excellent. The care staff were sensitive and kind to her and they treated her with dignity and respect. They were also very supportive to me and my family as we kept vigil by

My mother sadly passed away at Manton Heights this week.


She has been a resident in the Maulden Dementia Unit for the last 8/9 months. The care she has received has been exemplary. On arrival from another local care home, her condition and demeanour actually improved. She calmed down and was back

to being my joyous Mum again.


Her passing was thankfully speedy, dignified and peaceful and this was in no small measure due to the carers and assistants. 48 hours before her death, she had been on one of the units trips out to Milton Keynes to see the Christmas shops, which she enjoyed immensely.


Leaving her room for the last time was difficult, but the sympathy, empathy and sheer consideration for myself and my wife made the whole process a great deal easier. I shall always be grateful to the staff from top to bottom all of whom showed the best in human kindness at a difficult time.


I have experience of other care homes for other relatives and can thoroughly recommend Manton Heights.

Our mum came here in April 2018 after we had provided full-time care for her at home and her condition had deteriorated to the point where we knew she needed to be in a much safer environment. I had seen quite a few homes and knew the moment I walked in this was somewhere different. We have always found
the staff extremely helpful and management even more so, always going to extra mile to ensure our mum is happy. Our mum is safe, happy and there are always plenty of activities every day.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a residential home for a relative with dementia.

Manton Heights is a nearly new purpose-built, (rather than an adapted dwelling) care home, that offers a personal touch with excellent modern facilities. The whole site is clean, light and airy with very contentious staff who really care about the residents. It is not the cheapest care home in the area,
but the facilities and staff make it a good investment for the wellbeing of your relative, with a dedicated Dementia wing where the staff are lovely.

Overall the standard of care has been good. When dealing with resident's physical needs most staff appear to be competent and kind. A wide range of food has been available for breakfast. Staff have been willing to provide something different if residents ask for something that is not on the menu. The
dining room has been decorated and new dining chairs provided. On the whole, laundry has been satisfactory provided all items are named with the room number. Residents and relative meetings have provided information and allow relatives to express their concerns.

My father came to Manton Heights for rehab after being in hospital for many weeks. From the start, the staff and management were friendly and caring both to my dad and his family.
They ensured that all his needs were met both medically and physically and often went above and beyond what was expected,
by their dedication to my dad's care and happiness.
My dad liked the staff, including domestic staff who often popped into his room for a chat.
My family were kept informed and updated on all aspects of his care.
We were grateful for the staff's professionalism.

During the time my wife was in care, she was cared for well. At certain times, the care varied as the attention of the carers varied according to the different teams that were on duty.


The management structure has changed which is improving the standard of care but is a slow project due to the difficulty

of recruitment ie standard of applicants. Part of that problem is the appalling wages.


In the final days of my wife's life, the care and attention and support for me was excellent.

After the sudden passing of my mother and my father suffering from Dementia our immediate thoughts were Dad having to be placed in a care home, fortunately for us, he was accepted into Manton Heights Care Centre 24 hours after my mums passing, unfortunately for us as a family Dad passed away 4 weeks
after mum. During my dad's short stay we found all the staff to be friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble, we were constantly kept up to date with Dads unfortunate deterioration by his Key Worker along with other staff members in her absence. The compassion shown on the day of dads passing began with the initial call from the night staff through to the Administrator, Home Manager and other staff members.
As a family, we would not hesitate in recommending Manton Heights.

Mum was only at Manton Heights for 10 days for respite but during this time she was treated with the best of care. I would fully recommend this care home to everyone that needed to be cared for. We the family were kept updated with everything that was going on. The staff were excellent. Mum was always
put first whatever she liked to eat they tried to accommodate. Nothing was too much trouble.

I would like to highly recommend both the facilities and staff at Manton Heights. My Mother spent her last year there and did so in comfort and with all of the attention possible from a really lovely team. Everyone there; nurses, carers, cooks, cleaners and admin staff all seemed to take a personal
interest in Mum and treated her with care, dignity and respect. My sister and I were frequent visitors as were other family members and we were always happy with the way in which Mum was being looked after. She slipped away quietly when her time came and it was a great comfort to know that her last days were comfortable and peaceful. Thank you all.

The best aspect of Manton Heights is the dedication and professionalism of all the staff (there is a single carer whose standards are not as high as I would like). The residents in Carlton Wing are treated with care respect even when displaying challenging behaviours local management take their responsibilities
very seriously too and react quickly to any complaints on concerns.
Any issues which is why I have not rated overall as excellent this is due to lack of staff sometimes the common areas appear disorganised e.g lack of cushions, lack of chairs. Meal times are sometimes disorganised especially for those who need to be fed and residents not always overseen.

I found the accommodation to be first class and of a high standard similar to that in a 4/5 star hotel. Although my 99 year old mother was not able to make use of the facilities, I was impressed by all that was available.
The level of care given to my mother was excellent and I have great admiration
for the dedication and professionalism of the staff.
My mother was in the care home for 9 months until her death in June 2016

My mother was admitted with severe dementia and received very good care and attention. One particular incident which comes to mind was that following a stay in Hospital, which was very poorly managed by the discharge unit, the care home staff stayed long after their normal working hours to settle her
back in safely.

With dementia nothing prepares you for the highs and lows of this devastating illness, whatever you do, you hope that for that moment the sufferer has happiness, as a minute later it is forgotten. My mother was a resident in the above home for three years and in that time she was extremely happy there and myself personally was very satisfied with the care she received during that time. The management were always available if you had any issues and the staff, down to the kitchen, laundry and cleaning
staff were superb. There were regular relative meetings with management. The activities team has grown over the years and so some splendid work with the residents who wish to participate. The home is spotlessly clean and well furnished and the kitchen staff go out of their way to accommodate the special dietary needs of some of the residents. Yes, some carers were average and have time off at the drop of a hat but that is the nature of the profession I guess. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to others. Thank you.

Sian Hughes, Lifestyle Lead at Manton Heights Care Centre, is dedicated to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for residents.
With seven years in care, she started as a Community Support Worker before progressing to senior roles.
Sian joined the Manton Heights family as a Senior Rehab Assistant at the ABI Unit nearly three years ago. In February 2024, Sian moved to the role as Lifestyle Lead for Manton Heights Care Centre.
She completed her D.O.V.E.S dementia training in June 2024, further enhancing her skills.
Sian loves her role, leading a supportive team to bring joy to residents’ daily lives. She values the strong family atmosphere at Manton Heights, where staff, residents, and families support one another.
