A friendly, caring home with good facilities and dedicated staff.
The home offers a good selection of activities for residents.
I was particularly impressed by two recent activities; one where they asked residents what they wished for, and then made it happen and another where they brought eggs to
hatch and have now kept the chickens. Great ideas which bring smiles to the residents.

The care my mother gets from all the staff at Mill View is excellent. The staff really seem to know my Mother and help her with her daily needs.
A lot of thought is put into activities for the residents such as bingo, crosswords, cinema, singing.
The in house hairdresser and coffee shop are great.
The food is varied, and the residents can eat in the dining room or their bedroom.
My mother’s room is light and airy with a view of the garden and fields in the distance. I would recommend Mill View to anyone looking for a relaxed, caring, well-staffed care home.

My dad has been in Mill View for almost a year now. Following a long stint in hospital, it was decided that, as a family, we could no longer provide the full nursing care he now requires.
Making that decision that he wasn’t to return home was incredibly hard.
We researched and visited various care
homes but our instincts were telling us Mill View was right for him and so far we have been really pleased with the care he receives.
He has settled in really well. The staff made him feel welcome from day one and he’s made some real bonds. Some staff have a made real effort to get to know my Dad and genuinely care for him which means so much to all of us.
I’d would genuinely recommend Mill View.

My wife is a resident at Mill View since April 2019. She is looked after extremely well, the staff are always friendly and caring with very few problems. I am aware of how hard this work is since I was her sole carer for 7 years. They are to be admired for their dedication to the difficult but vital
work that they do.

Extremely happy with the care my mum is receiving, she spent approximately 15 months in a dreadful care home. The difference in mum is amazing she really is being cared for. We finally have some peace of mind knowing she is safe, happy and well cared for.

My mum is in Mill View she has advanced dementia and gets very confused easily and finds it difficult to communicate but I cannot fault any of the care she receives. The staff are all really friendly, kind and attentive, reassuring mum when she gets upset by putting an arm around her to make her feel
safe. I have already recommended Mill View to a few of my friends for their family members. When My dad and I had to make this really hard decision to look for a home for mum we met with the family liaison lady who was extremely kind, and very understanding listening to our huge list of questions, she showed us around and made us feel at ease and felt this was the best place we had seen by far.

Since my mother moved to Mill View, I have been very impressed by the care, professionalism and commitment of the staff. Their kindness in helping her to be happy and safe while living with dementia is greatly appreciated by our family. They have worked hard to help her settle in her new home and have
been very sympathetic to my mother's individual needs. We looked at a number of care homes and the management and care team at Mill View were outstanding. My experience since my mother moved in, has only reinforced that opinion. Every single person working at Mill View I have met has shown great humanity and compassion.

Would like to see father encouraged to go to more activities, he does need a lot of coaxing.
He eats really well, but sometimes when I have been in he has not eaten eg baked potato, as he hasn't been able to cut up.
Loss of slippers and shoes is a definite problem.
Whenever I have asked to change
dad or help, they are very kind and nothing too much trouble.

In regards to activities, we have a full and varied schedule of activities that take place every day, which are planned according to feedback from residents – if there is something, in particular, your father would enjoy doing we would be happy to look into organising this for him. Although taking part in activities, supporting residents to continue to enjoy hobbies they’ve always taken part in or discover new things they’d like to do, is very important, we also recognise that on some days, residents may not want to take part, and we always respect their wishes in this regard too. We also offer 1-2-1 activities for residents, even if this is just sitting and chatting with them over a cup of tea or taking a walk in the garden or to the local shop. We will pass your comments onto the care team regarding mealtimes and ensure your father has full support where he needs it to enjoy his meals. In regards to the footwear we will let the team know – if this happens again, please let us know as soon as any shoes or slippers cannot be found and we will do our best to help you find them – of course, we also keep any lost property which we can look through for you. As a full-time carer for my ex-husband, I contacted Mill View in March 2019 enquiring about respite care in June. The staff were super helpful and I was able to book three weeks respite care in June/July 2019. Due to certain circumstances, this respite care was extended for a further two weeks after
which it was deemed necessary for him to be a permanent resident. The whole procedure was carried out with much kindness and great professionalism.


I have found all the staff at Mill View to be very professional, very kind, very helpful, very caring and all work extremely hard. Nothing is too much trouble for them.


Initially, I found the situation very upsetting but I have received great comfort in knowing that he could not be in a better Care Home where he is happy and he is safe.


I am extremely grateful to everyone at Mill View and cannot thank them enough.

My parents started at Mill View for an initial 3-week respite care after both being in hospital for some time. I reviewed 3 care homes for this purpose and Mill View was by far the best and most warming and friendly atmosphere. From day one, it was clear that my father was enjoying the care and companionship
of the staff. My mother took a little while longer to settle but was, in part, due to a UTI which was diagnosed quickly, following a GP visit and now she too seems happy and settled. They had become very reclusive struggling on in a 3 bed house and frightened to go outside for fear of falling. They are particularly enjoying the entertainment and on my last visit, where seen holding hands and singing along, with the performer, to 'We'll meet again'. Not bad after 68 years of marriage!

The staff are generally friendly, helpful, respectful and professional in their attitude towards caring for residents at Mill View. Residents have plenty of opportunities to socialise and participate in recreational activities if they wish to do so. The building and facilities are generally good and
the setting is very peaceful.
However, some parts of the building would benefit from being re-decorated, some of the lighting could be improved.

There is a happy atmosphere at Mill View and the staff are attentive, kind and friendly. It’s a huge relief for me to know that my mother is in a safe environment and that her specific needs are being well cared for. She likes her room and enjoys the food and being able to go to the café for coffee
and snacks.


I am very happy with the quality of care and the facilities, plus the availability and responsiveness of the staff. I have no doubt that we made the best choice for Mum.

Job Title: Home Manager

I am a dual-qualified and registered adult and children’s nurse with 40 years of experience. I spent 25 years in the NHS in a variety of roles, from Registered General Nurse to Paediatric Ward Manager. I left the NHS in 2007 after completing a Level 5 Leadership and Management course in order to manage a care home.


Being a Home Manager carries huge responsibilities. You have to be a good communicator and have a passion for caring for others. However busy it gets, I take the time to walk around the home and speak with residents, relatives and colleagues. It always reminds me of what differences we're making in people’s lives. My team is amazing, and I look forward to working with them every day.


When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my husband and two rescue dogs who we adore. When I can, I also like to travel up north to see my children and grandson. But most days you’ll find me pottering in the garden or curled up with a good book.
