Mill View has wonderful, friendly staff and a great coffee area where my loud family always take over whilst visiting my grandmother. It’s always clean and tidy and all ways stocked with tea, coffee and treats.

My mother has been with Mill View for over two years now. She has vascular dementia which has had a slow deterioration, affecting her abilities to cope with managing the simplest of things.


Her mood swings vary from day to day leaving an uncertainty of what to expect each day in her outlook on things.


The nurses manage this with a great deal of patience, sometimes having to put up with an anger created by frustration and other times a very agreeable person.


The home provides a range of entertainment that keeps most patients occupied with a weekly visit of a hairdresser to give an uplift in their well being.


Clearly living at home would now be extremely difficult, Mill View provide the alternative option with support and care.

My mother has been a resident of Mill View since Feb 2015. During her time there she has been very well looked after and encouraged to join in the activities.
We always receive a phone call once a month to review mum's care plan when she is resident of the day.
We are also notified with any issues
arising re mum's care or health concerns.
The staff are very helpful and caring.
We are pleased with mum's care, safety and well being at Mill View.

Overall very happy. Have noticed lately that some agency staff are sometimes less understanding of the needs of the residents.

I’m sorry you feel that some of our agency carers are not as well-versed in our resident’s needs as our own team. Where we use agency carers to supplement our own colleagues, we are mindful to ensure that they are brought up to speed with resident requirements through detailed handover notes and ready access to the resident’s essential files. We do also try to use regular agency carers wherever possible to promote continuity of care. I’m sorry that you feel this hasn’t provided a seamless service in some instances and we will review our processes to try and improve where we can.

My mother enjoyed her respite time at Mill View. The staff were clearly committed and dedicated to the care of the residents and treated both residents and visitors with sensitivity and empathy as well as cheerfulness. It seems that my husband was treated very well. It would have been nice had they been able to encourage him to shower more and change clothes more. But, overall, excellent.

Our residents are carefully assessed when they come to live with us to ensure that their care needs are identified and supported as they require. We advocate independent living (where able) and our care staff offer help and assistance with all aspects of daily living. We do however have to respect a resident’s right to decline this help.

My wife spent 2 weeks in respite at Mill View and from the onset was made very welcome. From the customer services to the care staff themselves they all appeared dedicated to making life as much like home as possible. The bedroom was spacious and kept clean. I can only say good things about the home
and would always recommend it.

My father recently had a respite care stay of two weeks in Mill View. He is quite hard to please but seemed quite comfortable at Mill View and even joined in with some of the activities. He was pleased to be able to have a hot meal in the evening as this is his preferred time to eat. The staff were
friendly and helpful and we particularly like the layout of Mill View, Dad liked the 'coffee shop' and access to extra drinks at night. Overall very good.

Since becoming a resident there has been a significant change for the better in respect to my father. Having lived alone for a number of years he now has the chance to interact with people on a daily basis and take part in activities that he would not have taken part in, some of which he has never taken
part in!


From a relatives perspective, it is important to know that they are being cared for in a safe environment, where you do not have to worry about them. Being at Mill View there are no such worries as you know that they are receiving great care and being well looked after.

I am very impressed by the way the chef(s) produce flavoursome colourful pureed meals for my father, food I would be happy to eat. We sampled a wider selection of good food last month when we held a family party at Mill View. Being able to hold this in the cinema meant that my father could join the
celebration for some of the time and be visited in his room when he needed to lie down. The chef laid on an excellent buffet at very reasonable cost.

The care home is very welcoming, from friendly staff at reception who is always there to help and assist with visitors and the residents and in the admin offices to the lovely healthcare assistants. The care home is clean and bright and has a lot of places to spend time with people you are visiting,
ranging from a lovely garden which is nice in the summer months and the nice coffee shop area where you can enjoy a variety of tea, coffee and hot chocolate with a good range of snacks.
They offer a good amount of other services too such as a well-run hair salon. The laundry team and cleaners are all hard working and take pride in keeping the home clean. The activities team offer quiz's, games, days out and someone to talk to and help alongside the caring team.
It is an all-around fantastic home to consider if you are looking for a place where your loved ones will be looked after and well cared for, it's like a home from home with all they need.

My husband has been at Mill View for 15 months. He has always received the best care and has been and is always treated with dignity. In recent weeks a certain nursing condition has needed daily dressing. This has been carried out meticulously and with great care that my husband is in the least pain
possible. The staff talk their way through the procedure so that my husband is aware of what is going on They chat to him and continue conversations with as much normality and humour as possible.

Job Title: Home Manager

I am a dual-qualified and registered adult and children’s nurse with 40 years of experience. I spent 25 years in the NHS in a variety of roles, from Registered General Nurse to Paediatric Ward Manager. I left the NHS in 2007 after completing a Level 5 Leadership and Management course in order to manage a care home.


Being a Home Manager carries huge responsibilities. You have to be a good communicator and have a passion for caring for others. However busy it gets, I take the time to walk around the home and speak with residents, relatives and colleagues. It always reminds me of what differences we're making in people’s lives. My team is amazing, and I look forward to working with them every day.


When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my husband and two rescue dogs who we adore. When I can, I also like to travel up north to see my children and grandson. But most days you’ll find me pottering in the garden or curled up with a good book.
