Anchor's Oak Tree Lodge is located at the centre of the North Leeds community in Leeds. The home provides friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 60 residents in single rooms with en suite wet rooms. They are welcoming new residents to Oak Tree Lodge on a permanent basis and for respite care.

The home has a secure garden area, quiet lounges and a bar area for customers and their families to enjoy.

The dedicated care team takes the time to get to know the individual and works with them and their loved ones to create detailed care plans to ensure their care needs are continually met. The home provides ongoing training in dementia care for its staff to ensure their approach reflects best practice for residents.

The care the staff give is excellent and they always take the time to chat. I am usually informed of any incident no matter how small. The food used to be really good and varied but the male chef left last year and Mum isn't too happy about most of the meals. Mums room could do with redecorating as
it wasn't done before she moved in almost 18 months ago, and there is no pile to the carpet it's worn flat. The grounds leave a lot to be desired, rubbish and weeds and the garden and garden sleeper walls are terrible.
Staff are excellent manager very helpful.

We will discuss your comments regarding food with our kitchen team. Your mother’s room is due to be decorated within the next 2 weeks, and this will also include a quote for a new carpet.
We have raised the issues in the garden with our contractors. We have been advised that our gardeners will ensure that they follow our service specification and we will monitor this.
We appreciate that you raised the issue of the sleepers previously and I would like to reassure you that we are working with our contractors to get this work completed as soon as possible.

My brother has Alzheimer's causing him considerable confusion, frustration and distress. He entered Oak Tree Lodge who were unable to cope with him. Matters were not helped by quarantine isolation that prevented him from leaving his room or anyone visiting him. He was eventually hospitalised for aggressive
behaviour possibly caused by an infection. With no infection found, he was subjected to another 14 day period of quarantine on return. His behaviour continued to deteriorate to the point that Oak Tree felt they could no longer meet his needs. The home declined my offers of help, relying on one-to-one support, which is no substitute for family support. Homes have a duty of care for all their residents, but there has to be some discretion when it comes to difficult residents who are confused and find themselves in completely unfamiliar surroundings. Oak Tree has Alzheimer’s down as one of their specialist care categories, but I don’t feel that is justified.

We have discussed all aspects of your brother’s care with you, as well as the appropriate government guidance regarding infection control and safety. Whilst we provide quality tailored dementia care, we were unable to meet your brother’s care needs and, for the safety of our other residents and colleagues, felt it appropriate that he move to a more suitable care setting.

Oak Tree Lodge is very welcoming to all visitors. All residents are well looked after by a team of very caring and competent staff.

We find the home very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, the staff are very friendly and obliging, it is like being with an extended family. The home is excellent value for money, clean and well-run. The food is great and the chef is always trying and asking residents about their preferences. Overall

My mum has been a resident for 18 months now and I am extremely happy with the care she has received. She is happy and settled. The staff are all brilliant, they are attentive and recognise straight away when medical attention is required. The facilities are fantastic and they have entertainment as

After looking at around 40 care homes to put my elderly mum, with Alzheimers, in for respite, I chose Oak Tree Lodge as the staff (management) were knowledgeable, informative and took time and shared insight and kindness. My mum has spent a week in respite there and was happier than I'd seen her in
years. The managerial approach and response is obviously at the forefront and cascaded down to their staff. I found them all open and honest in regards to giving me positive feedback, as well as truthful in relation to my mum getting up at night, being unsettled, when she was eating well, packing her belongings up, wanting to leave, wanting to stay etc. When I visited unannounced, my mum was engaged in activities, she was clean and responsive. All staff made a fuss of her. They genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. I left with a happy heart every time.

My father came to Oak Tree Lodge for respite care, during his time, in just one week his appetite returned. He was more alert, more talkative, he looked more his old self and was asking how family members were by name, which he hasn't done for many months. He has already asked if he is going back. This
is something I will be looking into going forward.

I visited Oak Tree Lodge to meet the staff and look around the home in view to my mother staying there.
The manager and assistant manager were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The home was warm, nicely decorated and felt like a happy place. Consequently, I have arranged for mum to move in.

My mother has vascular dementia and has been in care in Oak Tree Lodge for quite some time now, she settled in very well 'immediately' and I knew straight away that this home was the right place for her. She is very well cared for by hard-working and very caring staff, which I have to say have a lot

Mam went in for 2 weeks respite and from the home visit to her stay the staff were extremely friendly while maintaining a high level of professionalism that made Mam feel well at ease, along with ourselves. We went on holiday feeling a little concerned for Mam being in a strange place but having called
the home and spoken to Mam all our concerns were eliminated. When we picked Mam up she was in great spirits and was kissing and hugging everyone as we left. In the car a song by Doris Day came on the radio and to our surprise she started singing along, something we cannot remember her doing. As Mams need for extra care increases we will be seriously looking to book a place for Mam in this home.

My mum was a resident for one week to give respite to my sister.
The home is spotless with great amenities (even cinema room and bar).
The staff are fantastic - nothing was any trouble and they endeavour to make sure all the residents are looked after day and night.
My mother would definitely choose
this home if necessary in the future.

Job Title: Manager

I am pleased to introduce myself as the registered Home Manager at Oak Tree Lodge care home. I have 14 years of experience of working in care homes. I began my career in care when I worked as an agency carer whilst studying Nursing at the University of Leeds. At the end of my second year of study, I was offered a permanent position by the company I had been working for.


After taking the decision to leave my nursing studies in 2011, I worked as a Senior Carer for five years. I then became Deputy Manager with Anchor in 2016 and was promoted to Home Manager a year later. I moved to Oak Tree Lodge last year and I am very proud to be Home Manager.


I am passionate about providing a high standard of care and treating our residents with respect and dignity. It is my responsibility to ensure that resident’s individual needs are met from the start of the pre-assessment to admission. I look at a dedicated team who have the relevant training to be responsible for ensuring each resident is looked after with care and compassion.
