Our mum joined the Coppice Lodge Care Home family in mid-February 2022 following a huge dip in her mental health (dementia dip). Initially, she found it difficult to settle but the care, love, attention and volume of activities to divert her attention has meant Mum has improved considerably and she
is now very happy and content. Coppice Lodge is amazing, from the moment you are greeted by staff to the moment you leave, you feel your family member is cared for, loved, respected and provided with everything they need. All staff are extremely respectful of family needs too, it's a stressful adjustment for all but they help throughout each step. Amazing place.

The rooms, cleanliness and food are fine. A lot of the staff seem to be excellent. During her stay, my mother had a number of falls, two while she was directly supervised on a one-to-one basis. There were a variety of factors contributing to this, however, it does not seem satisfactory. During February,
my mother was still a resident but actually in hospital. The care home never contacted us to ask how she was. When we collected Mum's possessions the care home knew she was dying but never even mentioned her situation.

My mother-in-law had settled in well at first. This review would have been so much more favourable then.
Then a change in meds resulted in a sequence of events -
* Falls, two whilst directly supervised and one unsupervised.
* Last fall resulted in a broken hip (undetected by staff) which was operated
on.
* She has not recovered from the operation and spent over a month in hospital.
* Now in a Nursing Home receiving palliative care.
What upsets me most is that even when the falls started we had zero contact from management at Coppice Lodge. Through all the time she was in hospital no one rang to ask how she was.
We collected her belongings recently - we were left waiting outside for ten minutes, then another fifteen inside. Felt like a courier collecting boxes. At no point, again, did any staff member ask after my mother-in-law - and both the manager and assistant manager were present. Got into the car and burst into tears - no 'care' from a 'care home'. Poor.

Absolutely first-class! The staff who facilitated my visit were fantastic. The home was spotlessly clean, the cafe well stocked and the coffee machine is fabulous! I could not have asked for more. All Covid protocols were followed so Gran and I felt very safe and had a great time. Thank you!

The deputy manager assisted me in the morning with showering. I have Parkinson's disease and my mobility is very restricted. The use of the Rotunda was necessary and this was especially difficult for the deputy manager to ensure my safety or prevent falls. Transporting me from the bedroom to the bathroom
required all of her strength and experience. The deputy manager is a credit to Coppice Lodge Care Home and I am full of admiration for her.

Having broken my foot I was unable to provide care for my husband at home. At very short notice Coppice Lodge provided excellent care and accommodation for him. Because of Covid, I was unable to view the whole building but what I saw was lovely, with a very pleasant aroma. Staff very pleasant and exceptionally
helpful.

My father recently came to the home for respite for two weeks. This was also a test to see how he would settle in. I was delighted how quickly he did settle. All this was due to the extremely welcoming staff. All staff have to date been very caring and pleasant. I feel confident my father will be happy
and well cared for at the Coppice Lodge, which makes my decision to move him there so much easier.

During the period Mum went into Coppice Lodge, the care shown to her during this difficult period was great. They did everything they could to stop Covid from infecting the residents. Unfortunately, at Christmas, Mum did catch it and has survived due to her stubbornness and the fantastic care offered
by the overworked staff. They kept me up to date on her condition on a daily basis. It was nice to know she has people around her that cared when we couldn't be there. They encouraged her to eat and drink when she had almost given up. Any concerns I raised have always been dealt with in a polite and professional way. I cannot rate the activities as they have been dramatically reduced, but the staff tried their hardest to come up with something.

Front of house always excellent. Management almost always available to "chat". Staff very good with some outstanding in their thoughtfulness and "understanding" of my dad's needs, mood swing and "personal space". Dad is so much "better off" being in Coppice Lodge than when we were trying to cope in

Modern, clean home where the staff go out of their way to provide a safe and happy environment for residents.
Staff make regular contact if there are issues and during Covid restrictions keep relatives informed.

“I really enjoy organising the activities and entertainment for the residents and seeing how much they enjoy the experiences.”


Angela has worked with Ideal Carehomes as Front of House Manager since October 2015. She has a wealth of experience in the care sector, starting her journey as Night Care Assistant in 1994 and progressing to a Senior Night Care Assistant for a Lincolnshire-based company, where she gained her NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care. In 2004, Angela decided to broaden her skills in the domiciliary care industry and worked as Deputy Care Manager, where she gained her Registered Manager’s Award. She then became an NVQ Assessor and gained her A1 and V1 qualifications.


In her role at Coppice Lodge, Angela is a welcoming and familiar face to family and friends visiting the home. She likes nothing more than liaising with prospective residents and assisting them from initial enquiry to moving into their new home. Angela works closely with the Home Manager and Regional Activities Executive to arrange regular and exciting activities for the residents, including a ‘Social Saturday’ event which takes place each week in the brand new café area at home.
