Anchor’s West Hall is a unique and meticulously designed flagship care home. It was rated as Outstanding by the CQC for the second time in June 2019. Three of the five areas inspected of Caring, Responsive and Well-Led were rated Outstanding in this report.

The team are proud to be welcoming new residents to West Hall, on both a permanent basis and for respite care. West Hall provides outstanding residential care and for older people living with dementia. Priding itself on its dementia care, staff receive on-going training to ensure their approach reflects best practice.

West Hall comprises of an 18th century listed Manor House, with three purpose-built, contemporary lodge residences, all set in peaceful and impressive grounds. The Manor House has been extensively refurbished and provides a bistro, a private dining suite, activity areas and a library.

The three lodge residences have been specifically designed with the latest technology to provide lovely accommodation, including spa baths and spacious bedrooms. They have the benefit of environmentally friendly energy, including solar power and the use of organic material for insulation.

At West Hall, the team promote friendship and companionship. Encouraging a high quality of life is at the heart of the culture and ethos at West Hall. The highly trained and dedicated team approaches every day with professionalism and compassion, delivering a service that’s unique to each individual’s needs. Residents have detailed care plans which are unique to each individual and agreed upon in conjunction with loved ones to ensure health and care needs are constantly met.

West Hall is operated by Anchor, who are England's largest not-for-profit provider of care and housing for older people.

Aunt came 2 1/2 years ago in not a good state of wellbeing. She has settled in West Hall and in herself, she has gained weight (very underweight on arrival) and has enjoyed her time there.

I feel my mum is in a safe place and well looked after. The staff are caring, patient, friendly and always available to talk. The introduction of a monthly meeting with my mother's team leader is a good idea. Encouragement to join in activities has improved greatly. The food is varied and good.

I visited several care homes before selecting West Hall. I have been very impressed by the facilities which are modern, clean and spacious, compared to some homes I have seen. The staff have been very considerate, patient and caring. They also treat residents with dignity and respect and treat residents
personally. Food is excellent and of a good choice. Looking forward to the summer when the spacious grounds will be attractive.

The staff in Birch Lodge at West Hall are all excellent. My mother has advanced Alzheimer's, but they treat my mum with great dignity and kindness and are very supportive of our family when we visit. The Lodge manager and team leaders are happy to discuss care plans with us and encourage our input into
developing a plan that works for Mum. All staff are genuinely caring and they encourage Mum to participate in the daily activities where she can, or spend time with her one-on-one to ensure she is happy and stimulated.
The home is not perfect, nothing in life is perfect, but any small glitches or queries we have are dealt with quickly and with a genuine desire to improve the service.
I've visited many homes prior to placing Mum here and I am very pleased that she has now settled well and is indeed thriving under their care. It is so encouraging when we visit to see Mum smile and wave at all the carers, the resident to carer ratio is very good. I would recommend West Hall.

From 14/12/18 what a lovely welcome. I love all the new decorations, Christmas and otherwise, it is good to keep changing and improving.
Birch Lodge is always a happy place to visit.

We visited a friend who became a resident a few months ago. The atmosphere at West Hall is one of friendly and helpful staff. The grounds both inside and outside are immaculate. Light air rooms. We had lunch at The Bistro a lovely setting with very good food and most importantly our friend is happy.

My husband, being in care for a short time, has received very kind and compassionate handling. He can be very difficult at times because of his dementia but he is always kindly distracted and guided. As his illness progressed, we would like him to stay and hopefully be as happy as he can.
