My friend has only recently moved into Allingham House. Consequently, I do not have extensive experience of all the facilities. However, my first impressions are that the staff are very caring and treat all the patients with dignity and respect.
There are a lot of activities at different levels. Suitable
to the range of residents.
The residence is very clean and homely.

My dad received excellent care for the last months of his life at Allingham House. He was treated with the utmost respect and dignity and also was not just given care but was cared about by all the staff. They went the extra mile to give him nourishing food, to find activities he would enjoy.
I look
back with the fondest memories of all the staff at Allingham House. Thank you, everyone, at Allingham House, I can never thank you enough for my dad's care.

Allingham changed my Grandma back to her normal self after thinking there was no going back. She has been there a year in August and says it was the best thing she did for her health and is so glad we made the decision. They have been so supportive through happy and sad times. All the staff are amazing
and so thoughtful and friendly. Entertainment staff bring so much joy to everyone. I haven't got a bad word to say, and the care home manager does everything she can to make sure the residents and families are happy. Puts me at ease to know my Grandma is happy and is getting the care she needs. I would highly recommend to anyone considering a care home. You get what you pay for here, they offer so much.

I have found all the staff look after my husband extremely well and they are so friendly and caring with him considering he can't do anything for himself.

The staff at Allingham House were professional, dedicated, caring and considerate towards my father and me. Nothing was too much trouble from our first meeting. All staff including management down to the kitchen staff showed excellent care for service user and relatives. I was able to spend time with
my father and was with him right to the end. Nothing was a problem. The place was friendly, clean and positive atmosphere.

The staff are very attentive to the residents and if they require anything they respond very quickly. They are always smiling and interact with the residents. The home is exceptionally clean and the residents are always well manicured, clean and dressed well. There are many activities offered to the
residents, including excursions. This home has exceeded all our expectations and as a family, we are very relieved our Mother is being so well cared for.

Allingham Care Home is purpose built, clean, comfortable and run with high levels of efficiency and care. The friendly, caring staff are what 'makes' it a good home. They are so kind, courteous and helpful and treat residents as they would their own family. The end of life nursing and care for my father
was outstanding. All members of staff/management went beyond the call of duty to look after him. They were so kind and caring. It gave us great comfort to know Dad was so well looked after, at a very difficult/distressing time. Visitor parking at Allingham is often difficult, leading to parking on adjacent roads.

My father has been in the care centre since April of last year and has enjoyed his time there. The staff are amazing, so friendly and jolly. They spent time with him and really engaged with him. They also made the family feel welcome.

Allingham House provided a caring, homely atmosphere where my mother's personal needs were attended to with dignity. Her medical condition was continuously monitored and doctors called for any concern. We were also informed of any action they had taken. The staff were cheerful and welcoming to relatives
and the well being of their residents was obvious to be seen. All the staff are to be congratulated for their dedicated work.

My Mother has been gripped by a very aggressive form of vascular dementia that has seen her reduced from an active, mobile (driving!), independent living, intelligent, articulate, sociable woman to a physical and mental 'husk' in less than 2 years.
She has been in two previous 'care homes' in the past
14 months - neither of whom were capable of providing for Mothers Primary Care Needs (despite their initial assurances when they were 'selling' their facilities to us!)
Fortunately, we were able to identify Allingham House as an EMI Nursing Care facility and they have been providing residential care for Mother for the past 4 months.
From the very first day, the care, attention and dignity provided by the staff and management at Allingham has been 1st class. Mother is less 'tormented' and the family are less distressed as her condition is now being 'managed appropriately'.
From reception to cleaners to caterers and even maintenance crew - the staff all take an interest in the residents - which is great.

After a rapid deterioration in my mum's health, we were delighted when we found Allingham House and were offered a place. It is a daunting task to find a place for a loved one where they will be cared for in the way you would care for them yourself.
My mum was made to feel welcome as soon as she entered
the reception area. From that minute I felt her care and comfort were assured and this has proved to be the case.
Whenever I visit my mum looks happy and contented. She has even made friends. Before arriving she spent a lot of time on her own.
The activities - music, cognitive exercises, etc. and the social sessions in the conservatory are exceptional.
Staff, care, medical assistance, hygiene and food are exemplary.
It feels like one big happy family. I know my mum is safe and happy.
Thank you all at Allingham House.

Welcoming inclusive atmosphere. De-escalation when some residents show challenging behaviour is done very well, shows staff well recruited and trained. Staff stay in post, so continuity of care. Obvious the staff respect residents and their families and they see it as the resident's home, not their
workplace. Communication and care needs of residents well met as continuity of care vital to wellbeing.

My mum moved to Allingham in August 2017 and stayed for 2 and a half weeks before she passed away at the beginning of September. During this difficult time, all the staff treated mum with care, dignity and comparison. They helped us to settle him in and deal with her illness. The food, cleanliness and
facilities were all first class. As my first experience of a nursing home, I could not have been happier. Thank you to all the staff.

Care at home was increasingly complicated for my father who has Vascular Dementia. He agreed to give Allingham House a trial period and settled in quickly and very well. All staff are excellent, very friendly, caring and well-organised.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.637)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.637) out of 10 for Allingham House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.214 for Allingham House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 140 Ratings = 4.214

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.423 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Allingham House Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.2 = 0.523

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
