I visit often and the staff are always pleasant and willing to assist residents in an appropriate and compassionate manner. It can be challenging work but staff always seem happy to be there. General home appearance and residents rooms excellent and always a pleasant smell.
One of the better care homes,
well organised and managed. It does come at a price. I hope the local authority feels able to pick up the fees when the money runs out. Always a worry.

The care my husband received was unbelievable.
Allingham House - the standard of cleanliness was very very good (no horrible smell of urine).
The clothes are all clean and looked after.
The carers themselves are delightful, polite and give their all to my husband sometimes, under difficult circumstances.
My
husband was in Allingham for a year and I could not fault anything during his time there.
He received the most brilliant care and love and I could have asked for.

My mother received the best of care at Allingham House until her recent death. She had been a resident for 3 1/2 years and it truly was her home surrounded by people who looked after her with dignity, care, professionalism and friendship. There are too many people I would like to thank for making by
mum's final years enjoyable, sociable and fun.

Allingham is a well-run home. The staff, without exception, are all wonderful. They are all very caring and sensitive to each individual's needs. The facilities at Allingham are good, with regular new introductions. For me, the great atmosphere created at the home is down to the activities staff. They
create fresh activities and trips out for residents. I know my Mum benefits a lot from their hard work.

The entertainment officer is outstanding. She is very kind, charming, considerate and dedicated to making the life of the residents more pleasurable and enjoyable. She is very alert to be helpful and goes beyond "the call of duty".

The carers have been so attentive, caring, sensitive understanding and empathetic. My father is devastated by the loss of his wife of 67 years; the staff at the home could not have been more kind. My father is sometimes in denial, the staff handle him with the skill of leading psychologists. I have
words of praise, I cannot fault them.

My mother left the hospital, considered by doctors to be at "end of life" and transferred to Allingham House Care Centre. Within a few weeks, she was able to sit in a wheelchair, feed herself and interact fully with residents and carers. I put this huge improvement in my mother's condition entirely
down to the management and staff at Allingham House. If she had stayed in the hospital I have no doubt that she would no longer be with us.

Often the carers go beyond their job description to provide support and comfort. The cleanliness too is excellent - particularly compared to the previous care home my mother was in.

As a family, we have seen an overall good standard of care of our mum. The staff seem professional and caring of the patients, which for us is the most important thing. Hygiene standards are high. Activities good and beneficial.

We are very happy with the home. Mums condition and general well-being has improved significantly since she came here. Although there are still some lows (tears) she seems generally happy, and we have very good moments too.
All in all a very good move for my mother

My husband has been a resident in this home for the past 6 months and I can only praise the quality of care that he has received. My husband seems very content most of the time, but even when he is unsettled, they are able to settle him down. I have no problem with any of the care he receives.

The staff at Allingham House are lovely and caring, they work hard to give care to the residents. It would be great if there could be more one-to-one interaction with residents: from staff to resident. The food provided is good, quick and fresh. My mum enjoys the meals. The staff who provide my mum's
care are gentle with her and patient which is reassuring and comforting. The staff who provide activities are excellent, they have a kind and fun approach with the residents and do a brilliant job.

I became a resident at the end of April 2016. My experience over these months has been satisfactory. The care arrangements are working well, catering is very good and my room is comfortable.

As I have established a routine I am becoming satisfied with the service provided.

My dad has been in here for 4 months and seems happy with the present arrangements. He appears to be getting all the care and medication he requires. Extra services like hair, nails and doctors plus his hearing aids are all being attended to when he requires them.

My husband moved into Allingham House four months ago suffering from advanced Alzheimer's disease. He has a very pleasant room overlooking a charming well-maintained garden which the residents are encouraged to use for socialising and activities whenever the weather is suitable. One example, a falconer
with his birds of prey. The atmosphere as soon as you enter the lobby is very friendly, staff, residents and their relations all talking and helping you to settle into the life of the home. The care and support from all the staff, from top to bottom, has been excellent and the residents are at all times treated with dignity and gentleness. The wishes fo the residents are listened to and acted on in a very caring and sympathetic manner. The quality of the equipment used is excellent and is available for the use of the residents when required, such as a special bed to prevent him from falling and a special chair which could be adjusted to his measurements which he finds very comfortable. All his food has to be pureed but it is presented as well as possible and it is enjoyed by my husband. Security has a high priority even in hot weather when windows are open, there is always a responsible person in the room. Unfortunately, my husband has now passed away but the care during the final days could not have been better. Every member of staff was so kind, even making sure that I was alright. I have no regrets in choosing Allingham House as a suitable home for my husband.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.637)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.637) out of 10 for Allingham House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.214 for Allingham House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 140 Ratings = 4.214

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.423 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Allingham House Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.2 = 0.523

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
