The care home is very warm and welcoming when you enter. It's all very clean and you see the cleaner daily who is very pleasant and friendly.
The other staff are always pleasant and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them all. When the alarms are pressed in the rooms staff answer them within
a minute. Normally the food always looks nice and freshly cooked. If the resident doesn't like what's on offer the cook will cook something else for them.

My Mam has recently moved into Lavender Court after it was decided that she would no longer be safe at home alone. All the staff are very friendly and take good care of Mam. She said she feels really settled and wants to stay there and not move anywhere else. She said she has never seen so much food
and all they do is eat!! The room is spacious and she has brought lots of her personal belongings to make it homely. The manager of the home is lovely and helps with any queries we have. She speaks to Mam directly as opposed to through us and has told Mam that anything she wants, she only has to ask. The home is clean and tidy and the grounds are well looked after. The garden area is especially nice. Mam is now going on to permanent care at Lavender Court and I hope she will feel as settled and happy for a long time to come.

My husband is in this care home, he has dementia. He is so well cared for, he has to be turned every couple of hours so he can get sore lotion.
The staff are wonderful and I stay most of the day with him, as I live on my own in a flat and I find it much better to be with him.
If I get old and need
care, this is where I will come. This is an honest opinion.

We visited Lavender Court to see if it was suitable for my mother after being in hospital for a week. The hospital staff felt that it would be unsafe for her to return to her own home. Straight away my husband and I liked the size of the home. The staff appeared very friendly. We had visited several
other homes before this one and there was no way that I was going to let my mother go in them. Mam has been here now for 3 weeks and she has not been an easy person but the staff have been lovely towards her.

A very small and friendly home. Loving care is given to all the residents.
Unfortunately, long term staff have left so mum's personal medical care is lacking.

Reply from Elaine Henman, Home Manager at Lavender Court Residential Care Home

We have spoken to Julie regarding her comment that her mum is lacking personal medical care. Julie has been reassured this is not the case and is happy her mother is receiving the care she needs. We have stated we will keep her up to date with any changes and we will continue to speak to her mother's G.P. if we have any medical concerns.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.457)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.457) out of 10 for Lavender Court Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.857 for Lavender Court Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.857

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lavender Court Residential Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
