Today my friend and I enjoyed a lovely walk around the very well kept grounds. Lovely blend of colour. We then had a nice hot drink and a beautiful piece of cake in the coffee lounge.
All the staff are to be complimented for creating such a relaxing, caring environment. Thank You.

Welcomed by senior staff on arrival.


Pleasant room with windows overlooking the garden.


Requested a quiet room and got one. Good size bathroom/shower.


Carers generally good and attentive to my needs. A bit slow/late getting me up and showering (by 10.30 am). I now have colitis and it took a

few days to sort a suitable diet.


Overall a pleasant and satisfactory 2 week stay.

My father has had an extended time in hospital after a fall which resulted in additional complications on his discharge. He spent 11 days in another care home but we were unhappy with his care and transferred him to Barchester Harper Fields. It was the best thing we could have done! He is more alert,
his medical and care needs are being met and he has staff around him who really do care. They encourage him to get out of bed and he looks clean and fresh whatever time of day we visit him. The management and administrative staff have supported our family on a difficult journey but we are sure now his short stay has become long stay. He will settle into life at Barchester Harper Fields and we know we have the confidence that his needs are being met in such a friendly supportive and attractive environment.

The care and support Mum has received in the last 2 years from everyone at Harper Fields has been truly wonderful and we are so grateful to have found a deeply loving and professional team of people, in a first-class residential environment. Mum is 101 years old, very frail and with vascular dementia
but we are content in the knowledge that they understand her needs completely and show such loving kindness and respect to her every day that we have no worries at all about her care. She is dressed beautifully every day, always happy and is encouraged to take part, wherever possible, in activities both on and off-site. We never feel that she is in any way at risk since staff are always visible and on hand, and are led by excellent and supportive management. We are convinced that the love and care she receives has enabled her to reach this magnificent age. We have no hesitation in recommending Harper Fields as a truly superb care home.

My father has been a resident at Harper Fields since May 2017. I feel that he has very good care and he's generally happy living here given the nature of his physical and emotional problems. He has involvement with good activities and is fed well. I feel reassured that he is cared for well at Haper
Fields and have peace of mind.

My Father has been a resident here for 18 months. When he first stayed here the for respite after a hospital admission, the home was great. Call bells answered promptly and plenty of staff on hand to help. After a second hospital admission, he became a resident here and the service plummeted. Now call
bells are left unanswered, especially during meal service, as there seemingly aren’t enough staff to do both. The staff are very poorly managed. No one seems to follow my Fathers care plan, we realised after finding one of his tablets on the floor, that he wasn’t being supervised when given his medication. They seem unable to adapt to my Fathers changing needs. We are currently seeking an alternative home.

My mum has been a resident at Harper Fields for 5 months now. I visit my mum every day and have found all the staff to be excellent, showing care and compassion. The entertainment team are all exceptional showing patience and respect to all the residents and organising excellent trips and activities.
The home itself has a warm, welcoming feeling and the coffee bar works really well with residents and visitors.

My mother has been a resident for 6 months and throughout this time it has always been a pleasure to visit her.
The staff are always full of energy, pleasant and knowledgeable about her day, eating, moods etc. My mother although she can't articulate her feelings is always smiling and clearly happy.
She enjoys joining in the many activities despite many of those being new to her. I thoroughly recommend Harper Fields.
(regarding value for money it is very expensive and whilst the care is excellent one feels after 45 working years you paying tax and NI the government should make a contribution to caring for the elderly)

My Aunt has been a resident at Harper Fields for Five Years, being one of the first when it opened in 2012, and during that time our family have been extremely satisfied with the care and attention she has received.


The whole Harper Fields team from the management, administration, nurses, carers,

activities, catering and general support staff could not be more helpful. On our regular visits, any one of the care team can give us an update on how she has been since our previous call.


The most important aspect of this organisation is that the care and support provided is of a consistently high standard which gives the whole family peace of mind that any resident is well looked after.
Therefore, Harper Fields comes Highly recommended.

Very impressed with the nurses, carers, events organisers and managers, Very caring. Plenty of good quality food.
Nothing seems too much trouble for my mum. She is treated affectionately by all the staff.
The furnishings are excellent, the building is purpose built. My mum enjoys the trips by minibus
in a wheelchair.

The care home has an institutionalised feel. Whilst early on in my mothers care the staff were attentive in ensuring any buzzers were answered quickly, once she had become an established resident the level of care dropped and during meal times call buttons would not be answered for a couple of hours
(due to staffing levels ). Although the building itself is suitably impressive staff have no time to engage with residents unless to service their needs as quickly as possible. During the later weeks of my mother's life she was left unattended for long periods of time - surely the home could employ some unskilled staff to simply take time with residents treating them like people, reading to them, listening to their stories, playing board games, engaging in debate etc.?
Unfortunately, the 'care ' has become functional rather than emotional as time means money to the companies running care homes (as demonstrated by the fact that full charge is made up to 2 weeks after death).

My husband has been in "Memory Lane " unit at Harper Fields for almost 12 months suffering from Parkinson's and Dementia. My family and I have been more than satisfied with the care and support he has been provided with. The staff are all most caring and kind and nothing is too much trouble. All the
residents are treated with dignity and respect and the whole atmosphere of the home is most friendly.

I have always found Harper Fields care home in the four years I have been here looking after my husband a very warm, friendly place. It's like you are walking into your own home and family. The carers are so hard working wish they could have more help. Everyone works hard trying to look after our loved
ones at the very best of their ability. They are all very professional in whatever role they from the chef to the gardeners who keep the garden's so beautiful and a pleasure to go and sit in or walk in. If you have to be somewhere make it Harper Fields.

My mother-in-law has advanced dementia. In her previous care home, she had given up. She was lonely, she was confused, anxious and wanted to die. Her behaviour was labelled as 'challenging' and the staff found her difficult to deal with. We felt lost and utterly hopeless.
Then we found Harper Fields
and the change for my mother in law has been profoundly positive. Harper Fields give her friendship, support and a quality of life we never thought possible. She goes swimming, on trips to the theatre and routinely trounces the other residents at skittles. She has made friends - with residents and carers - who genuinely seem to love her and like having her around. She is valued and cared for.
The atmosphere is warm and genuine. She may live her life in the moment, but that moment is generally a happy one. Now, when we say goodbye at the end of a visit, she doesn't cling to us and cry. She hugs us warmly, then turns around and goes back to have a cuppa with her friends.

I am very pleased with the personal care for my mother - the attention to her medical and other needs, social care, e.g. bed movement, feeding, toileting etc. We have open access and the care home helped us to recently celebrate her birthday. I regularly talk to her care staff and managers and continue
