Both my parents moved to St James Court just over two years ago. All the staff, from cleaner, kitchen to carers have been absolutely amazing with my parents when my dad was on end of life care we could not ask for any more from the staff. Nothing was too much. My mum still lives at St James and as a
family, we have had a lot of support from the staff who are like our second family. My only worry is that at the minute the world is going through this terrible virus, coronavirus, which obviously means we cannot see our parents at the minute, which we completely understand and staff are so busy they cannot always answer the phone. I think if it was possible during this terrible time, if we could have a closed social media for family and residents, so we could see how our parents are and we can also send messages that can be passed on to them, as this is very difficult for everyone at this time.

The rooms are spacious and clean also en-suite, service users can have their own posessions to make then feel at home. Activities are provided every day and service users are encouraged to join in. The food is excellent and well balanced. I have visited when tea was served and a choice of food was offered
and brought to the room it was well presented and tempting. Visitors can also make a drink for themselves if they wish. I have found the staff, caring, professional and helpful. I would stay there myself.

The home is of an excellent standard above others we have been to. The staff are very caring and helpful. The rooms are kept clean at all times. Meals are varied and very well balanced. They put some activities on each day in the mornings and afternoons to keep residents alert and involved.

My father-in-law came into St James care home for two weeks respite. The management and staff looked well after him. Problems were solved swiftly by management and staff. They all looked after us when we visited him.

My father moved to St James Court five years ago when he felt he needed security and help in his later years as a sole dependent carer for 15 years for my parents St James Court staff supported me when I had no help from social services and provided my father with a secure, friendly family environment
a home from home. In his final battle with Alzheimer's full medical facility were initiated in a compassionate and dignified way.

My mum came into St James on 3 May 2019. From walking into the home I felt the pressure from caring for my mum was taken away from me. The care the carers gave my mum was out of this world, even to the day she passed away, the staff were very dignified, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My husbands level of care was very good while he was in for respite. His room was really nice and the home overall was excellent. My husband enjoyed his short respite stay. I would use St James again in the future.

St James Court has been home to my father for over three years, during which time the staff have provided good care and a compassionate family environment approach.
As his dementia and physical condition deteriorated they were able to continue to meet his needs which was important to us as a family
given it was now his permanent home.
The staff were kind and cared for him with respect and dignity. They worked as a team which showed through in the small things they said and did without knowing so.
The environment has improved with the sections of the home being opened up and accessible, giving more light and feeling of space which has a positive benefit to residents in terms of visibility.
In my fathers last days of life, the care was very well coordinated and exceptional.

St James has literally been a lifeline to Mum and the family. We needed to find a residential care home that would support Mum and provide an enabling environment to help her regain aspects of her health after a difficult period. The quality of care, the outstanding cleanliness and the personal dignity
afforded to Mum are the key factors. The staff are cheerful, friendly, professional yet relaxed. Clearly procedures and protocols are in place but Mum is not having her care 'administered' it is a much more personal and individual experience. Her room meets all her needs, a real home from home. She uses the social areas for meeting her visitors and makes the most of the nice weather by sitting outside when she can.

I think the care home is at a good standard and majority of staff are to a good standard and make you feel welcome. However, there is a certain few not to standard including one senior which I think they lack on knowledge of the residents and they don't perform to standards they should. Secondly activities.
I think they used to be better but there is less choice now and I prefer it when family members could go through activities and choose what heir family member does. Sometimes you have to keep reminding staff to do certain things with the resident like the hair salon. Overall, I am happy with the care home, just some things have got worse but others have improved.

We have recently employed a new activities coordinator with our residents reporting that the home's activities have improved. With activities being undertaken by all of the home's residents. We have received several very favourable comments about the quality of the care team and the high quality of care delivery. However, as manager, I believe in a culture of openness and will gladly discuss and review any negative experiences that people experience. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss these issues raised in this review

My aunt received excellent care in the two years she spent in this care home until her death aged 98 in September 2017. The staff always treated her with respect and made sure she was clean and comfortable. In particular, I would like to commend the senior carer who clearly had an emotional connection
with my aunt and did everything in her power to ensure her death was as peaceful as possible and the night care who spent as much time as possible in my aunt's room on the night of her death to ensure that she did not spend her final hours alone.

I would like to compliment the staff at St James for the care and support they provide for my mum. I have noticed on my visits there that all residents are taken notice of and interacted with in such a natural and caring way. I have been in other care homes where residents are treated like things rather
than people. They take time to talk, laugh, sing and care for people.

I admitted my grandad to St James for end of life care after leaving the hospice.
When first admitted, Macmillan and the nurse on duty met with me to discuss my grandad's requirements and to ask what kind of involvement I would like in his care. The staff not only cared for my grandad but took great
care of my family and I also.
The level of care received was of the highest standard, my grandad was treated like the gentleman he was right up until his last days.
I can't thank the staff enough xx

Since residing at St James Court for end of life care4 my mother was always treated with the utmost kindness care and respect. Her dignity was always of the utmost importance to the staff and they bought out her dry sense of humour. Their love and respect for my mum was always evident and I shall be
forever grateful for the excellent care she received. Living some 200 miles from Bromley I always felt peace of mind when leaving mum in such kind and capable hands.

I was the main carer for my cousin until she became resident at St James Court. I continued to visit twice every day at lunch break and early evening to late evening. My cousin was always treated with kindness care and respect. I got to know all staff from the manager to carers, nurses, cleaners and
kitchen staff very well and became a very familiar face at the home. All the staff are 100% committed to the work they perform, always caring and friendly manner. They treated my cousin with warmth, humour and dignity and I am grateful for the care she received. I shall miss them all very much.

I have given St James Court the high excellence score, because that is what I truly found with my experience. My husband was there for four weeks under rapid response. I visited daily for no less than four hours, sometimes all day.
Every aspect of the home was constant, from the caring to the cleaning.
Well done St James Court, well done to the manager, you have a fantastic team.
