The team at Lake View are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and supporting them to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. There are resident ambassadors, who do everything from showing new residents and their families around their home, to providing feedback at residents’ meetings.

The home is thriving, with so many activities to enjoy, from karaoke, pamper sessions and a knit and natter group, to movie afternoons with popcorn in the home’s cinema, trips out into the community, pub lunches and animal visits.

The local community are embraced into life in the home, from school children who take part in activities, to a community choir, musicians and entertainers who regularly perform for the residents. And the home has its own piano for anyone who fancies some spontaneous music!

Lake View has its own a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting weekly, as well as a coffee shop for ‘Tea Tuesdays’ and relaxing with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

The beautiful landscaped gardens have raised planters and wheelchair friendly pathways. This summer the residents have loved growing their own fruit and vegetables from seed in the polytunnel, harvesting their produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

Mealtimes are another highlight, with home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea. In the dining rooms residents enjoy everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays, plus themed menus for special occasions.

The spacious bedrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated, with walk-in wet room showers.

Loved ones are embraced into life in the home and are welcome at any time. And there is a private family and friends Facebook page, where they can see what the residents have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

When I first walked into Lake View Residential Care Home just over a year ago when I was looking for a place for my mum. I was very impressed with not only the layout and feel of the home but also the staff's attitude. Many staff have changed however, all are friendly and give not only my mum but other
residents, the care and support they all need which is varying and not an easy job at all. From the office to carers and all inbetween they make Lake View the home from home it needs to be for all the residents and their families.

I have been really impressed by the care my Grandma has received here. Her room is wonderfully clean and there are lots of activities to take part in if she wants. The staff all take a genuine interest in residents and it is obvious that they care.

My mum has been cared for really well by all the staff.
She is much better now that her medication is administered as and when required and she is checked overnight.
Unable to fault the care to date.
All the staff genuinely care about the residents.

Moving to Lake View has been fantastic for my grandfather. He has settled really well. The range of activities and choice means he is intellectually stimulated. His wellbeing has improved and the staff create a warm, welcoming, home-like atmosphere. He has told me that he feels so much happier here.

The home is great the teams of staff on the floor level my grandad is on are all fantastic. The level of care they give to him and the other residents is excellent. The home facilities are great too. My grandad has settled in really quickly from moving in recently to the home from a previous home and
its all down to all the staff involved from the carers to the management, they have all be fab!

I visit Lake View once a month. I am a local Parish Priest. I have observed excellent care and support provided to the residents and their families. The environment is stimulating and friendly "just as home should be." Clients are shown respect and dignity.

Clients are not shaved regularly. Personal items always getting lost. Carers give good care but little interaction with clients. Too much paperwork for staff to fill in. Floors regularly smell of urine.

Regarding your comments, we respect our residents’ wishes and at times they prefer not to have a shave. Sometimes things can get misplaced but my team are always there to help find them. I’m confident our home doesn’t smell as my staff work hard to ensure any isolated episodes are dealt with swiftly – in fact, we’re often complimented about how pleasant it smells.
Keeping care plans updated is a vital part of our role to ensure we are able to deliver the very best care and support to all of our residents – please be assured this time is balanced with spending quality time with our residents – we are genuinely dedicated to ensuring everyone is happy and contented here.

The end of life care my mother has received has been excellent. The staff have been so compassionate and kind far beyond duty. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lake View Residential Care Home for this type of care. After my mother's death (30.8.16) this care was extended to helping me.

Overall we have no problems with the home, they provide brilliant care for my mom. Unfortunately, we have had an incident that my mom was found at the bottom of the stairs resulting in a fractured collar bone and a fracture in her lower back. The staff were absolutely brilliant throughout this incident
and I hope management have put new procedures in place to prevent this happening to someone else.

On behalf of all the family I would like you to know our profound appreciation for the way in which you care for my father and your professional approach in making us all so welcome when we visit. I can see my father is settled and happy. He gets the stimulation he needs, the home is light and airy,
beautifully decorated and well equipped.
The day my father moved in we all felt anxious and did not know what to expect. Those fears have disappeared. This is down to excellent communication between all professional bodies involved.

There are some very positive aspects to the home and some staff that take the care of residents very seriously and have an excellent attitude. The care is however not suitable for Alzheimer's patients or respite care as they need time to get to know the patients well and understand their needs and requirements
and get into suitable routines. Having sight of and agreeing a comprehensive care plan is in hindsight essential, as internal communications could be improved. For us it was more stressful than having to care for him at home and it took many days for us all to recover from the experience, but that was just our unfortunate experience. It is important to note that there were happy residents there and had it not been for half term in the first week with key staff on leave, I would hope there would have been many activities that he would have enjoyed. Their invoicing system is also unnecessarily distressing but would only be an issue when privately funding.

My name is Dannie and I am the Home Manager at Lake View I am also the Home's Moving and Handling Trainer and a trained Mental Health First Aider. I have worked for Sanctuary for 10 years. My Background has always been working in the care industry from the age of 16 when I started as a domestic assistant.


I love working at Lake View and I have a passion for leading a team that is caring, and kind and will go that extra mile for our amazing residents and their loved ones.
