There is a very friendly atmosphere in the home, starting with the reception staff who are always welcoming and exceptionally helpful. My mother is happy with the care she receives but finds the food to be of poor value for the money she is paying. The dishes are often not to the liking of elderly people
and some of the choices on offer do not constitute a healthy diet. A more worrying concern is that, during the course of this year, several articles have gone missing from her room.

The menu provided at Darwin Court has been developed by a team of highly skilled/experienced chefs and nutritionists to ensure a well-balanced diet, complemented by an appealing array of meal options. If the menu is not to a residents liking, they can request a separate meal, which the chef will make every effort to accommodate. Our seasonal menus are also shared and discussed with the residents in advance and subjective opinions are expressed to the catering team. It is with regret that some personal items are unaccounted for, despite efforts to locate these. Dad has settled well and his care is very good. Each time we come to see Dad he is more settled and relaxed. We are very impressed with his care so far and are confident that he is being looked after well.

My father has suffered considerably and been in large amounts of pain at times in the past. Despite there being a small number of care workers showing empathy and care this is not consistent across all staff members who have been slow to react. We’ve been told that there are staff shortages, consequently,
it is patients that suffer.

The concerns have also come as an unexpected surprise to us as we have only recently spoken directly with your father's next of kin, who appeared very satisfied with the interventions provided to ensure that the relevant health professionals were consulted and that actions taken by Darwin Court resulted in a positive outcome for your father. Mom's care since she's been on palliative care has been extremely good. The staff are very caring and keep us updated on each visit.

My husband has been well cared for, his mental necessities always checked and the best help/care provided for him. He is always 'clean' when I visit him, showing that his welfare is very good. All staff are very welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. If there is a problem, carers, nurses or admin staff
will rectify it ASAP.

My wife has been a resident at Darwin Court for two years. The management, facilities and accommodation are excellent and, most importantly, the level of care and attention provided by the carers is of the highest standard. My wife is comfortable and relaxed and I have peace of mind. I do not believe

My mother was very happy while living at Darwin Court. Initially, she requested a respite place following hip surgery, but after a few days she asked to become a resident. She based her decision on the responsiveness and kindness of the carers, the comfortable surroundings and because, in her words,
she 'felt safe' there.

My mother was welcomed to Darwin Court on the 11th of June. Her room is very comfortable, spacious, light and airy and has all the facilities one would expect of a good hotel.
The general surroundings are excellent, from the dining room, longes and Bistro (which is a real asset) and the whole ambience
is lovely.
We have always found the staff to be very kind, caring, friendly and always willing to take the time to talk about any concerns or problems, making us feel that nothing is too much trouble.
Everyone has a smile and friendly greeting and we are very impressed with Darwin Court and would highly recommend it.

When I came in with my husband he was in a bad way. Underweight, unshaven and extremely aggressive. With the wonderful care of the staff in his unit, he is now sitting with me in the café having a cup of tea and a biscuit, totally relaxed. I never thought I would ever see this, consequently, I am relaxed
and unstressed. I have one issue and that his unit is undecorated in comparison to the rest of the home. It is in a bit of a state, having said that, it is functional.

I have covered the whole of my spell here at Darwin.
After being very ill one Sunday/Monday in April, I requested to be returned to Darwin, because facilities were handier and I know I had helping hands.
I have given food and drink a good but on occasions, it leaves a bit to be desired.

I joined the Avery Family in 2015 and have over 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector. I first joined the Avery Healthcare as a Registered Nurse and have progressed internally, proudly becoming a Registered Manager in 2020.


In November 2023, I joined the amazing team at Darwin Court as General Manager, and I look forward to many successful years in our beautiful home.


I would describe myself as someone who is kind and caring, who is hard working and has a positive attitude.


In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, and watching movies and have recently started jogging.


I am proud of my career and the positive difference I have made in the lives of others and I look forward to welcoming you to our home.
