My cousin is resident in Mayfields after 10 weeks in hospital following a stroke/dementia/Parkinsons. The family agreed she could not be cared for at home. Mayfields is perfect for all her needs and she has settled well. Her care is excellent and she enjoys the activities and entertainment provided.
She has lots of visitors, friends and family and enjoys the food.

Mum misses family get-togethers especially, but the staff at Mayfields enabled us to give her a large family party for her 95th birthday. We did the catering so she had all her favourites and the staff provided cups of tea, crockery etc. We had a lovely time and so did mum.

The six-monthly review went into some detail regarding the health and wellbeing of the resident. I was shown the frequent notes recorded showing a definitive pattern of good care. All in all, it was a very worthwhile review held in a private and quiet location.
The carers at The Mayfields are a happy
group working together as a team.

Mum has been very happy at The Mayfields since her arrival in July. She is very well looked after and kept occupied with the activities on offer and day trips out.
The carers treat her with the utmost respect and have a lovely relationship with her. Long may it continue.

I was extremely lucky to find Mayfield Care Home to put my wife in as she has brain cancer and being not too far away is looked after by very caring staff who treat me with the same respect.
The home is very clean and well managed with good food.
Also, any requests are treated the same.

All the staff in the Bluebell Unit do their utmost to support residents in a calm and respectful manner. Residents are given choices where appropriate for example if they want to stay in bed until later in the day. This is a very caring place.

When I first began to visit the care home in 2013, it was very good. Since then, it has sadly deteriorated, particularly so on the Bluebell (dementia) unit, which has become the poor relation.
It is understaffed and the chairs are dirty.
The management emphasis dignity, but 2 male carers looking after
27 residents who are 75% female cannot be dignified. The staff do their best under very difficult conditions.

Welcoming staff - always a greeting and a smile.


Laundry - can be left without socks/pants. Seems to collect whether dirty or not. Stuff gets lost.


All in all satisfactory - clean and bright.


This is an impression only - my wife has dementia and appears content for the most part.


No comment

on 'value for money'. It's a huge price to pay.

My mother in law's birthday party:


The staff went to amazing lengths to make this day special. We had a table set aside with decorations, balloons and banners and playing her favourite music. The meal was first class and the staff were very attentive. They baked a fabulous cake and all available

staff came to sing happy birthday to her. A very special day made even more special by the staff at The Mayfields.

The care and support my late mother received was excellent I cannot thank and praise the staff enough for their care, compassion shown to her and going the extra mile to make her last birthday; Early Xmas decorations so nice and the friendships and caring, compassionate approach to her final days of

My mum has been in The Mayfields Care Home for 6 months now and I am extremely happy with her care. The home and staff provide a very welcoming atmosphere and my mum has settled in extremely well. There is a great variety of activities and entertainment going on regularly and I think the daily newsletter
is a great idea. The food is of extremely high quality and the cleanliness of the home is excellent. I now have peace of mind 24/7.

My partner's mother received excellent care from all the staff she regarded staff as friends. They really engaged with her and made her last months as happy as possible, ensured she enjoyed her last birthday and gave her an early Christmas and gave outstanding support during her last days of palliative
care as well as support for her daughter. It is not just your job, it is how you do it and you do it very, very well. ALL OF YOU.

My mother received excellent care whilst living at The Mayfields Care Home for the period of 17 months. All the staff were wonderful and caring to her. She reached the end of her life with dignity and compassion.
All the staff were amazing, caring for all her family at a difficult time. As a retired
hospice nurse, I feel that she received that same quality of care as that given at the hospice. Following her death my husband and I were shown the same qualities of compassion, empathy and understanding as given to my mother.

The service at the Mayfields continues to improve.
It would be easy to single out a staff member here or there but what makes it work is that they are a team. A very, very caring and dedicated team. My mum can't speak for herself but I know she feels safe and happy at the Mayfields and I thank everyone
for that.
The food is cooked on the premises and is fresh, varied and nourishing.

With a career rooted in compassion and dedication, I began in a brain injury rehabilitation unit in 2006, rising from a care assistant to a managerial role. My leadership journey continued in 2021 as a manager at Castlemeadow Care, where I honed my skills in residential and dementia management. Today, I proudly serve as the manager of The Mayfields Care home, where I am committed to providing high-quality care and fostering a supportive environment for both residents and staff.
