My mother has spent 3-months at Oakmont, and we knew instantly that this was the right place for her to be cared for. The property is fresh and modern and has a wonderful garden area, and the rooms are bright and larger than other care homes. The staff are amazing, and Mum has the freedom to enjoy the
amenities whilst still being safe and cared for.
I would recommend Oakmont due to the high level of care and individual needs that are met by the wonderful staff. My mum is treated as an individual, and despite her dementia, they continue to understand her personality and strive to find out as much about her as a Mum, Grandmother and Wife.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Oakmont Lodge Dementia unit - in particular, the wonderful staff. My father has been a resident there since February 2021, and as a family, we are incredibly happy with both the amazing care he is receiving and the communication we have with both the management and
staff who look after him.
Having moved Dad from a different residential home where care was very poor, we are really impressed with the staff's depth of knowledge around dementia. Dad has been treated with such amazing compassion, sensitivity and dignity, and he has settled in so well to his new home. The staff are all tuned into how to communicate best with Dad, have made such an effort to get to know him - he is treated like a person, not a patient. Dads physical wellbeing has really improved in such a wonderful environment. Oakmont have been amazing under all the Covid restrictions to facilitate connection with loved ones - giving new peace of mind to us and Dad!

We are very happy with the care provided to my sister who has profound and multiple learning difficulties.
The team at Oakmont Lodge have taken time to understand how my sister communicates with her eyes and body language. The result is that she has bonded with several members of Oakmont's friendly,
efficient and caring team.

Oakmont Lodge Care home is an excellent facility, providing the highest level of professional standards of care and support to both residents and their family members. The buildings and rooms are bright and modern. The home management teams are both caring and efficient. The nursing and support staff
are outstanding. Liaison with family members is first-class. Nothing is too much trouble for the outstanding staff in the specialist Dementia unit. I would recommend this home without reservation a model of its kind. Thanks for looking after my wife so well.

My mum has been in Oakmont Lodge for 10 weeks and as a family, we are extremely happy with the care she is receiving. The standard of the home is 5-stars and the care she is receiving is second to none. From the first time I phoned the home and then meeting the care manager I felt it was the right
decision for my mum to go into Oakmont Lodge. The care manager is a great role model and exemplary leader, not only showing a very high level of care in her interactions with clients but also works diligently to guide and influence all staff to work to a similarly high standard. From the very first contact we had with the team, they have worked in a very empathetic manner to ensure my mother has felt that she has remained involved and listened to, especially during the early and difficult days as part of her initial time in Oakmont. I cannot overstate the positive nature of the centre manager’s engagement and interaction with our family, especially during this very difficult period.

From the first time I visited Oakmont Lodge to see if my husband could be admitted as a resident, I have nothing but praise for all the conditions and all the staff. The home has a beautiful atmosphere, very clean and nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff. From day one, my husband who
has dementia has been so happy and content and I know he is very well looked after so I can relax knowing that is the case. Well done Oakmont Lodge.

My mother, who has mobility and communication issues, was admitted to Oakmont Lodge Care Home just before the start of the first Covid lockdown. Whilst we knew the facilities were beautiful, we didn’t have time to get any real knowledge of the home or quality of care provided. Since then we have been
very impressed with so many of the care staff and management. For example, one evening I received a call just before bedtime from one of the care assistants who had noticed a number of missed calls from me on Mum’s phone and just wanted to reassure me that Mum was safe and well. As visiting has opened up I have been delighted to see how well Mum has been dressed and styled; just how she herself would want to look. The staff have been alert to Mum’s needs and on noticing a significant deterioration in her abilities, have allowed me to regularly visit her under the Care Partner rules which has massively improved her health and well-being and given me reassurance that she is in the right place.

You could phone any time of the day or night, they leave you on hold and either it cuts off or you spend a lot of time sometimes hours trying to call especially when dementia patients have difficulty in using phones. I would imagine they don't have enough staffing, which I am surprised at since it is
for elderly people with dementia. I answer the questions below without knowing as I have never been in the facility because of Covid.

My husband was resident from August 2016 until the end of April 2019. His complex medical needs were handled with excellence. Level of care given was exemplary. Staff are professional, so caring and friendly. This nursing home is a role model for all others. Highly recommended.

My mother was admitted to Oakmont Lodge in January 2019 with vascular dementia.
It was difficult as a family to deal with mum's illness as before her stroke on New Year's Eve, she did not have dementia. We, as a family, have taken great comfort in the fact our mum is happy and bright. The care workers
are great with her and she loves them. Mum is stimulated by the activities and interacting with others. She goes out for lunch once a week, taken to church, gets her hair done and goes to the lounge for a singalong.
Mum's appetite is good as she enjoys all the meals. Mum feels happy, safe and contented at Oakmont. I don't think you can ask for much more.

My mother has been a resident for almost 12 months following recovery from injury and made the decision to remain in Oakmont herself. My family and I can not praise the care and attention she receives highly enough. She is extremely content and well cared for. We worried about having her enter a care
home, as did she, but our worries were unfounded.

My mother has been at Oakmont since July and I am delighted with the care she has received. She has thrived in the last 6 months, gaining weight and benefiting from the company of others. The staff are all so kind and attentive; nothing is too much trouble. Despite her disability, my mother has enjoyed
a social life through the various activities arranged for the residents. I was so anxious about her first Christmas away from home but no effort was spared to make it a very Merry Christmas.

Oakmont Care Home has been my mother's residence for the last eighteen months. She has been very well looked after but the staff, whilst caring for her, make sure she does what she can for herself - keeping her independent.
Very clean, with a lovely TV lounge, garden and a nice dining room for eating
and mixing together. I looked at several residential homes - none came near to Oakmont for comfort and modern facilities.

I have found Oakmont Lodge to be a good place for my mother to reside as reflects my answers to the questionnaire, I strongly feel that the food could be improved. It is very much small portion control with little flexibility, it is prepared to very tight provisions if a resident changes their mind.
Also, I believe that the minimum TV package deal should be available. Overall a friendly, warm and caring home where mammy has settled as well as can be expected.

Some of the undernoted descriptions are now open to change. New owners have already closed down the majority of the gardens and seating areas (outdoor) with the intention of building extensions. Management will also change next month - the changes not so big an impact at present as we are going into
winter and do not use the outside so much.

Reply from Karen Fleming, HR / Business Manager at Oakmont Lodge Care Home

Thanks for your feedback; plans will be shared in due course for the extension and garden.

Oakmont have now been looking after my dad since June 2018 to present and hopefully for many more years. I would absolutely recommend Oakmont, the staff on all levels are excellent, friendly and supportive and nothing is a bother to them. I know I don't have to worry as my dad is in a safe environment
and is well looked after. Food is excellent, activities are great, bedrooms are large with ensuite facilities and the cleanliness is excellent. I would totally recommend Oakmont Lodge to anyone.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.063)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.063) out of 10 for Oakmont Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Oakmont Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.063 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakmont Lodge Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.063

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
