Haven is a stunning home with fabulous spaces to enjoy, from beautiful gardens and ensuite bedrooms, to a hair salon, welcoming lounges and a library.

But it’s the team, who are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, that make it feel like home. The way they support family and friends to be part of life in the home is very special, giving it a very warm, family feel. The staff are passionate about ensuring their residents are doing the things they love in an environment which is as close to home as it possibly can be.

And the community are truly embraced into life at Haven. At the recent 10th anniversary party, many of the guests were the loved ones and friends of residents, neighbours and community volunteers. And the Vicar of Hatch End even blessed the home as part of the celebrations, which also included a delicious barbecue, a magician and live music.

There is so much to do at Haven, from music, pamper sessions, garden games and gentle exercise sessions, to bespoke individual activities and reminiscence sessions.

Providing residential and dementia care, the team also provide respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for carers who need to plan a short break themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

The home has established wonderful relationships with local schools and colleges, embracing youngsters into life at Haven, whether through work experience placements or inviting them to perform music or dances for the residents.

This summer the gardens were completely transformed, and the residents loved taking part in the gardening club, where they grew their own fruit and vegetables, which they harvested to use in the kitchens.

And mealtimes are a real highlight of the day, with delicious home-cooked cuisine, from roast dinners with all the trimmings and fish and chip Fridays, to lighter options and home-baking for afternoon tea.

My mum was taken as a resident at Haven four weeks ago. All I asked of them was that my mum should be allowed to die in peace, treated with respect and if at all possible in no pain a matter between myself and her G.P. In my short experience of Haven, it is mostly a happy, peaceful place, with very
caring staff who really get involved and seem to understand each residents needs. I eat there on Sunday's and the food is of a high standard. I cannot speak more highly of Haven and if they are still there when I have the need I would be happy to move there.

My mother is very happy here and it's a relief to her family to know she is well cared for. She sometimes complains that the carers are too busy to answer any requests she may have.
Personally, I think the garden could be so much nicer, with more colourful flowers and plants. And I strongly object
to the presence of a residents dog, who is small enough to become a safety hazard to unstable/partially sighted residents, (and who poos on the grass)!

Thank you for your review and for recommending our home with such positive ratings. Our gardens are currently having a complete makeover, which involves replacing the soil and planting new flowers and plants. Our residents have been involved in this process and we are all really looking forward to enjoying our new garden when the makeover is complete in the coming weeks.
If a resident moves into our home and their pet is well behaved enough to join them, we carry out a risk assessment for the pet. I am pleased to say that members of my team have kindly volunteered to clean up after the dog, which is going to be kept on a lead moving forward.

My father moved into Haven, Hatch End in June 2015. As a family we found Haven to be a happy, friendly environment. Unfortunately there was a short period of time when Dad did not have his donepezil dose at the home due to the prescription being missed but this has been resolved. The new Manager has
been very effective, working closely with the staff, residents and family members to improve working practices within the home and this is definitely noticeable to all who visit the home. We as a family are very confident in the Manager's ability to manage the home at a very high level.

I have lived here for 3 years and have been made to feel very welcome and comfortable. My ground floor room has its own wet room and a door into the very pleasant large garden. The food is acceptable mostly. Since there are many people in various stages of dementia, congenial company is hard to find.
The original manageress tried hard to overcome this problem but until our present manager came things were difficult.
