Located in the pretty village of Iffley, the care home has beautiful large gardens in a very tranquil and peaceful setting.

Not only do the team provide residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, they also provide respite care, which can be booked in advance. This is ideal if you are caring for a relative at home and would like to take a break, with the peace of mind of knowing the team are providing care and companionship.

There are so many places in the home for residents to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. There is a cinema room for movie afternoons, welcoming lounges and dining rooms, where residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, with everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays. And there is always home-baking for afternoon tea and lighter bites for those with a smaller appetite.

There is a beautiful large garden and two smaller courtyard gardens, which have wheelchair friendly pathways and raised beds, for those who enjoy a spot of gardening. All of the bedrooms, which are spacious and ensuite, on the ground floor have patio doors leading to the gardens.

Iffley also has a hair and beauty salon for appointments with a mobile hairdresser and a spot of pampering. The team has also created a bar area, where the residents enjoy quizzes with their favourite tipple!

There is plenty to do at Iffley, from gentle exercise to arts and crafts. The team are also passionate about keeping residents connected to the community outside the home, so organise trips out in the home’s minibus.

The staff are excellent, polite, caring. The place is always clean and odour free. The food is always good quality, however some strange things on menu, vegetables need more cooking.

My Mother has been at Iffley since May 2024. The staff work very hard on her behalf. She is looked after very well by an excellent team of nurses and carers.

End-of-life care for my father. The staff treated him with dignity and respected any choices he made. The admin staff are excellent saw we needed a long bed and ordered it for him. Warmingly greeted by the staff and management when entering the building/floors.

My father was admitted to the care home in August for palliative care. He was treated with the utmost respect and dignity and nothing was too much trouble. The staff took their time to explain everything to us and were always polite and friendly. If we had any concerns or worries they were there to
listen to us any time the the day or night. Gold Star! The level of care my dad received was outstanding, compassionate and dignified.

My mother really did not like this place. She was admitted to the residential floor which wasn't too bad. They put her on a table for all meals with a man who didn't speak and failed to engage her in any of their activities (maybe Mum's fault). She was moved upstairs to the nursing floor when she got
worse. I was not impressed with the room she was given. The staff here varied a lot. Some of them were lazy (on their phones when Mum's fingernails were black) but the nurse was good. The worst thing was they forgot her 98th birthday but made amends by holding a party later for her. The food, I'm afraid, was pretty awful. She wasn't the easiest resident - but I expected a more caring attitude.

Alerts were added to our electronic care planning system, to prevent such oversights in the future. Please rest assured that our staff are not allowed to use their phones, other than in the staff rooms for personal reasons, they are accessing our electronic care planning system on work devices. Very impressed. Only a slight blip - no one on the desk when I arrived and no one to say what to do or where to go. Similarly needed help to get out and didn't know what to do. This could have been indicated on arrival. Lovely home. My cousin looked very well.

My Mother-in-law, who had dementia, has recently passed away at Iffley after staying with them for just over 2 years. The care and support she received was excellent. I would highly recommend the staff and the home. In her final year, a lot of time was spent in bed and during this time she was free
from bed sores, a fantastic achievement. They kept her engaged in activities taking place in the home, either in her room or, if she was happy to get out of bed, in other areas of the home. She celebrated her 90th birthday the month before she passed away, and a lot of fuss was given, with her room decorated, when we arrived at 10:30 am she was up and dressed beautifully, enjoying music with visiting Oxford Uni students. It was a lovely day and one we will treasure. She was also delighted that on the day she had double cake, once in the morning with us and another in the afternoon with the other residents.
Thank you to all the staff for your support on a difficult journey.

My husband has been in Iffley Residential and Nursing Home for a year, due to dementia beyond my ability to care. He has been on both the ground and first floor. I have found the staff to be truly caring and patient, cheerful and straightforward. They have acted appropriately when the need for medication
was possible. My husband is not unhappy, apart from frustration with his condition. He is good-natured but not always easy to deal with.
His walking has become very difficult and unsteady. The staff are very patient in helping him to the toilet, washing him and changing his clothes. His room is wired with security devices such that, if he gets up from his chair or bed alone, an alarm goes off.
I feel there are too many snacks, willpower being weak, and have felt I could say so!
Knowing my husband’s condition will only get worse it is good to know that there are nursing facilities on the top floor. I am pleased that, if our life had to take this turn, I was offered a place at Iffley.

Quite happy with the friendly staff. They deal with any issues I have. She occasionally has other people's clothes placed in her room. Perhaps more attention should be given to labelled clothes. Mum enjoys her activities especially Bingo.

We have been very happy with the standards of service provided for my mum. The staff are always, friendly, and really easy to chat to about Mum and offer lots of support for us as a family as it has been a difficult decision putting Mum in a home for all of us. She seems very settled and happy now.
She has put on some weight as eating so much better and the nurses really seem to care and engage well with her. Admin and reception have always been super helpful and informative. I have only had one negative experience of a staff member who I felt spoke to me and Mum quite abruptly and came over as quite rude. I rarely see her on the floor so I hope that she has very little to do with my mum and next time will flag to management if I feel uncomfortable. Apart from that, all the staff have been so very lovely.

My father was admitted to this so called residential home after staying there originally for respite care.
At first we thought he would be happy there but circumstances soon proved otherwise.
With one or two exceptions the staff are lazy and the managerial team uncooperative. My father was semi
mobile when first admitted but on many occasions we would arrive at midday to find him still bed bound and unwashed. He was put on a “behavioural chart” following one incident that I agree was unacceptable but was basically “name calling” and certainly did not warrant the action taken. We found food trodden into the carpet which had been left in situ for over 24 hours, incidents of prescribed medication not being administered, being left in a soiled condition for hours during the night and staff not answering residents' bells when they were being called. If your relative is bed bound and does not require much care Iffley is ideal. If they wish to have some kind of life look elsewhere!

Warm friendly staff. Nice room/facilities. Possibly not enough care staff: my dad had not had a shower during his stay. Previous visits I noticed my dad had not had a shower for 12 days. He was a bit under-stimulated on his previous visit but more people seemed to be around recently.

This year has been my fourth Christmas here and easily the worst. No offer of anyone putting lights in my room and looking out of my room to bare off white walls.
The worst part of the holidays was the poor standard of frozen processed food we were given. The chef's special at supper was bad quality,
the gala pie did not have much pork in it and I don't know what was in the mini flans because all I could taste was pastry.
I want to make it plain that none of this was the chef's fault, he can only cook with what he is given.
I think that the top management at Sanctuary must have cut the food bill and spent the money on redecorating the corridors and doors and refurbishing the kitchens. The doors are all white so it is difficult to know when you are near your room. Also, all the members of staff wear the same coloured dental uniform so it looks and feels like I am living in a dental surgery.

Mum has been at Iffley sanctuary since 2018. She was a resident on the ground floor for the first three years and made friends, and there was an amazing continuity with the staff. Since Covid, Mum has moved to the first floor. She is very well looked after, but staff continuity is not so good; NHS needs
to look after them better. Office and admin are always excellent and always reply to emails quickly. Very good care home.
