Located in the pretty village of Iffley, the care home has beautiful large gardens in a very tranquil and peaceful setting.

Not only do the team provide residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, they also provide respite care, which can be booked in advance. This is ideal if you are caring for a relative at home and would like to take a break, with the peace of mind of knowing the team are providing care and companionship.

There are so many places in the home for residents to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. There is a cinema room for movie afternoons, welcoming lounges and dining rooms, where residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, with everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays. And there is always home-baking for afternoon tea and lighter bites for those with a smaller appetite.

There is a beautiful large garden and two smaller courtyard gardens, which have wheelchair friendly pathways and raised beds, for those who enjoy a spot of gardening. All of the bedrooms, which are spacious and ensuite, on the ground floor have patio doors leading to the gardens.

Iffley also has a hair and beauty salon for appointments with a mobile hairdresser and a spot of pampering. The team has also created a bar area, where the residents enjoy quizzes with their favourite tipple!

There is plenty to do at Iffley, from gentle exercise to arts and crafts. The team are also passionate about keeping residents connected to the community outside the home, so organise trips out in the home’s minibus.

We have received excellent care and have no concerns about the care of my mother-in-law during the Covid-19 crisis. They have kept us fully informed. They have also maintained a very professional and confidential approach during what has been a very difficult time for them. I would have no hesitation

I have always found Iffley Home to be of fantastic benefit to my mum. The management and staff are always of positive attitude, out mums needs first in every situation. We as a family have nothing but admiration for the carers and we are made to feel welcome on every visit. Nothing is too much trouble

My mother has lived in this home for over a year, and my father spent the last five months of his life on the Nursing floor. They had different needs, and they have both been very well looked after. The building is modern and purpose-built for old and disabled people; the decor is also cheerful, and
it is in a pleasant, peaceful part of Oxford, conveniently situated for local transport. It is well organised, with separate floors for Residential, Dementia and nursing care, which enables it to meet a wide variety of care needs. This was especially helpful with my mother, who has dementia - she was admitted on the Residential floor, and moved to the Dementia floor when she got worse. They were a couple that live there, but are on different floors, the staff always make it possible for them to see each other every day. The staff are kind, helpful and look after the residents well. They keep relatives informed of any problems. We are glad that my mother lives there.

I visited my mum on Exeter Ward on 1st March 2019 and as always, had a very warm welcome from all staff members I encountered from my arrival in reception onwards. Mum, who is 100, has been looked after with great kindness and respect at Iffley for about 6 years now and is very contented. The atmosphere
on Exeter Ward is very upbeat and the staff deal with the occasional challenging moment very calmly and confidently. You pick your staff well, and they stay, which says a lot for your organisation and results in fantastic continuity and genuine caring relationships between staff and patients. I love the way in which mum is allowed to live her days at her own pace, for example, whether she gets up at 6 a.m., lunchtime, or not at all. The attention to liquid intake is very reassuring, and recently mum has been provided with a special chair which I'm sure she finds very welcome. The whole family is very grateful that mum is getting such wonderful care in her final years.

Our dad lived on the nursing floor at Iffley. Nursing and care staff were responsive and gentle and treated him as an individual. They explained things to him and gave him a calm and peaceful environment. The fact that he trusted them meant he was stress-free up to the day he died.
The staff treated
us with warmth too, including us in Dad's care, answering our questions, and telling us of changes to his health. They respected his wish for minimal medical intervention, calling in the GP when needed, but not rushing him into hospital. Management was friendly and accessible.
Choosing care is hard and every elderly person is different. For those with capacity and mobility, good food, facilities and activities are important. But for those with dementia, a calm environment and caring staff are vital — and Iffley’s are great. Also, our dad loved us visiting, so 24-hour access, a central location, good bus links and on-site parking mattered more than landscaped gardens and cordon bleu cookery.

From the moment that my mum walking into the home, I knew that everything would be okay.

Iffley Sanctuary Home provided wonderful, loving care for my father - and loving care for me, too - knowing he was so well taken care of. The carers loved him and he loved them.
An amazing manager always made sure any concerns were listened to and addressed immediately and with consideration. The
nursing staff were excellent - as well as the maintenance, cleaning - lovely meals - and those wonderful, wonderful carers who truly cared for my father.

I arrived in September 2015 having had a nervous breakdown in February caused by stress linked to ill-health and work. The 3 years spent in Iffley have put me back on my feet, so I can now move into my own (new) home (house) in Oxford. The warmth and helpfulness of the management team and the excellent
support from the nursing and care staff have been truly first rate. I feel also I have made real friendships with many of the staff. Note too that I have experienced both the nursing floor (top floor) and the ground floor, in each case much appreciating the support I have received. The setting in a small wood is both calming and delightful with birdsong to cheer me up.

This is my first experience of a residential care home and given all the critical reports about them in the media, I was apprehensive when my husband entered this one six months ago.


But that has turned out to be quite unnecessary. When I set out on my frequent visits to see him, I'm feeling depressed.

But on arrival, all members of staff are welcoming, warm, helpful and pleasant. My spirits rise. I have never seen a resident treated with anything but respect and friendly kindness.
