You need more experienced staff and not keep changing the staff as the residents and staff don't get a chance to build up a rapport with each other. The nurses need to get to know what medication is given regularly. They change the staff about so much so the residents and staff don't have continuity.
My husband is on the dementia floor so building confidence and continuity is very important for all the residents.

Acacia Care looked after my mother in her final two years with great care and dignity, friendliness and humour.
They are always welcoming to family and visitors, and on her passing, they could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend them.

Very relaxed atmosphere where the staff are there to help. Your ideas are welcome and staff/resident collaboration is encouraged and is welcome. A very transparent approach to caring makes this home a "jolly" nice place.

My friend has been a resident on the dementia floor at Acacia Care Centre for almost 5 years. Their high standards have been maintained and the care on his floor is excellent giving me great peace of mind. However, the rooms and gardens are beautifully maintained - worth every penny!

My father has been at Acacia Care Centre for just over a year. The staff here are hardworking and very friendly. Dad is well looked after and I know that he is not always easy to deal with. Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time and we all feel quite at home here.

The carers are so lovely, you can tell they care about this job Always smiling, I am always greeted nicely by the reception staff. Nurses are also very friendly. The daily activities here are great and I see how much my father enjoys it. The engagement between residents and staff is fab.

The staff of the Acacia Care Centre is extremely caring. They took great care of my ailing father and we will always remember them for that.
The centre itself is beautiful. From the moment you walk through the front door until you go through to the garden, you feel as if you are at home.

The home is always clean and smells fresh. The staff seem generally attentive and friendly. Sometimes the home seems short staffed and the residents are left in bed too long. Food is good. Rooms are comfortable.

The home is a joy. The staff are friendly, efficient and caring. The building is modern and purpose built and includes a coffee area, library room, hair salon, bar room and several lounges. The gardens are neat and tidy and finally has its own resident rabbits and chickens.

My mum was resident in this care home for 4 months before she sadly passed away. Her care during this time by all care staff and nurses was excellent. The staff at the centre are so caring and kind. My mother received the best care she possibly could for her end of life. I can't thank them enough.

We are so pleased my mother-in-law could spend the last 6 months of her life in such a place as Acacia Lodge. She was surrounded by love, care and peace and died in a calm atmosphere with someone at her bedside. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they understood her every need, organised her
medication to her advantage and they are simply superb. Thank you.

In the fall of 2012, following a dementia episode, my uncle was placed in the Acacia Care home. As we live in Calgary Canada we were not able to come to see him until January 2013. When we arrived at Acacia we were very impressed with the facility and with the staff that we met, from the carers to the
management. We are thankful for all the care given to him while he was a resident of Acacia.
We knew he was being well cared for. This was reaffirmed each time we returned to the UK to visit with my uncle. As well, each time friends of his visited they would email us to keep us informed about his care and condition. This reaffirmed with us that he was being well cared for by caring staff. During his last days (in October 2017) we received email updates about his condition and then a lovely note at the time of his passing. A few weeks later, we received a package by post with some personal mementoes, pictures and a couple of personal items which gave us comfort at this difficult time.

Angela

Angela Christian

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked with The Future Care Group for over two years. Initially, as Deputy Manager at Albany Lodge where I enjoyed the challenge of overseeing a large successful team who were dedicated to caring for over 100 residents within the home. Most recently I have been promoted to become the home manager of Acacia Care Centre and look forward to working with the team to achieve overall good in our next inspection report. As a nurse, I know the importance of delivering the very best care possible. I feel it is most important to involve our residents in creating their care plans to enable us to provide the care they want and need.
When I am away from work, I relax by spending time with my family and enjoy reading, cooking and walks.

I have worked with the Future Care Group for 30 years. I started off as a Domestic Assistant and worked my way through to be Head of Housekeeping and now I am the Home’s Administrator. I have enjoyed looking after the home’s cleanliness or assisting in other departments of the Home including Chef duties, taking care of providing nutritious meals for our residents. Over the past two years I have been part of Administration team working as an Administrator and looking after the reception. In my spare time I enjoy playing bingo and spending time with friends and family.

Job Title: Lifestyle Lead

I joined the Acacia Care team in 2014, initially as a healthcare assistant. This role provided valuable insights into the unique needs and individuality of all our residents. In late 2020, I transitioned to the role of a lifestyle assistant, and this year, I am grateful to have assumed the position of Lifestyle Lead.


My inspiration to work with the elderly stems from a close relationship with my grandmother, and my passion for the well-being of others has been ingrained in me since childhood. I take pleasure in spending time with residents, engaging in conversations, and learning more about their lives. Discovering their interests, hobbies, and needs enables me to plan a diverse and engaging daily activities schedule. This approach ensures residents remain actively involved in social and uplifting activities.


While devising new ideas can be challenging, the reward comes when these ideas come together. Bringing a smile to a resident's face is something I cherish and find immensely gratifying.

Job Title: Maintenance Manager

I have over 20 years’ experience of working in maintenance engineering. Throughout my career I developed a wide range of skills in plumbing, electrical, locksmith, painting and general building maintenance. We have a great team here, at Acacia Care Centre. I particularly enjoy liaising with residents and their relatives which enables me to make repairs in a timely manner and keep our residents comfortable.
Outside of my work life I like spending time with my family and skydiving.

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping

I have worked with the Future Care Group for 15 years, initially as a member of the housekeeping team. My extensive housekeeping experience enabled me to progress to the Head of Housekeeping role. My priority is to keep the home clean and hygienic to high standard with assistance of hard-working team of housekeepers. I enjoy daily interactions with our residents and their families which makes my work worthwhile. In my free time I love spending time with my grandchildren.
