We visited 3 homes and this was the by far the best, we thought the service may be different when arriving but the home, management and staff have all been really good and very helpful, friendly and respectful to our father's needs.

A well maintained care home with attentive staff and well organised. Meals - from those I've seen - are very simple, hardly appetising, and disappointing, especially when compared to the description given in your brochure. Generally the level of noise is what is expected, but there is excessive noise
from the television sets in adjacent rooms. Could these residents keep the volume lower or keep their door closed? A good care home let down by poor food and avoidable noise. Expensive in the circumstances!

I will share your review with my team members, in particular, our chef to see how we might be more creative with our menu. I will also explore ways to try and reduce the sound around the home caused by our resident's TV’s. Unfortunately many of our residents being hard of hearing, resolution can be a challenge. Acacia Care Home is really lovely. The building is sympathetically laid out, so there is good personal space as well as communal space, including a beautiful garden that is well used. Staff are very familiar and helpful. In my opinion, compared to others in Barnet Borough where my own mum was, this
is like a Palace.

It is wonderful at Acacia. Staff are friendly, helpful and courteous.
My mother-in-law looks 10 years younger. Above all, she is clean and shiny and relaxed. I am happy she is at last in safe hands, we can only visit fortnightly as it takes 6-7 hours for a return visit, but each time she looks that
little bit better!

Mum moved to Acacia when residential care no longer seemed to meet her needs and when she thought it would help to be nearer me.
The atmosphere is generally very warm and caring and some of the carers and nurses are lovely, one or two are fantastic with mum.
As with other homes, there are times
when it feels stretched (staff numbers), the food is not good and this often seems to be a challenge for care homes.
I have to help with tasks, like cleaning her room and finds the nights frightening, as staff don't seem very warm.

I have found the staff in this care home from the receptionist to the carers, to be welcoming and friendly. They listen and show compassion when dealing with the residents and visitors. On several occasions, they have observed positive aspects about my sister's behaviour and have told me about it. My
sister is unable to speak because she is suffering disabilities from a stroke. I am pleased with the way the staff are caring for my sister.

I wanted to say thank you to the staff nurse who took such good care of my dad. She treated him with respect and love. She made me feel confident to walk away and know that he was okay and safe.
She showed understanding and patience with him. When he finally died, she was crying with us.
She is
a gem and an asset to your company.

Dad was at Acacia for a very short time but was treated with great dignity and with care. Everyone, from the nurses to the cleaners, was so very nice. I am just so sorry he wasn't there for longer.

My mum was a resident in Acacia for the last 3 years of her life. Facilities there are very good, and staff, in general, are excellent. This covers the whole range from reception, nurses, cleaners, admin and maintenance, management and carers, and activities coordinators.
As an organisation they really
do try to get things right to treat their residents with dignity and affection and to try to help them be as active and engaged as possible. I genuinely used to look forward to my visits, and now my mum has died I miss going there.

My friend has settled into her new home very quickly and is very happy there now with many fellow residents to spend time with. A much better environment than living by herself. I find the staff are very friendly, professional and very attentive. I join in with a few activities when visiting and enjoy
them greatly as do the residents. The home is modern, clean and light with quiet areas as well as communal rooms which is great for guests who visit that may prefer a quiet time with residents, relatives and friends.

I have been to so many care and residential homes and I can surely say I find the service here value for money but there is room for improvement. Carers are the main caregivers and I would expect them to be paid accordingly. There can be room for improvising especially in one resident involvement.

Angela

Angela Christian

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked with The Future Care Group for over two years. Initially, as Deputy Manager at Albany Lodge where I enjoyed the challenge of overseeing a large successful team who were dedicated to caring for over 100 residents within the home. Most recently I have been promoted to become the home manager of Acacia Care Centre and look forward to working with the team to achieve overall good in our next inspection report. As a nurse, I know the importance of delivering the very best care possible. I feel it is most important to involve our residents in creating their care plans to enable us to provide the care they want and need.
When I am away from work, I relax by spending time with my family and enjoy reading, cooking and walks.

I have worked with the Future Care Group for 30 years. I started off as a Domestic Assistant and worked my way through to be Head of Housekeeping and now I am the Home’s Administrator. I have enjoyed looking after the home’s cleanliness or assisting in other departments of the Home including Chef duties, taking care of providing nutritious meals for our residents. Over the past two years I have been part of Administration team working as an Administrator and looking after the reception. In my spare time I enjoy playing bingo and spending time with friends and family.

Job Title: Lifestyle Lead

I joined the Acacia Care team in 2014, initially as a healthcare assistant. This role provided valuable insights into the unique needs and individuality of all our residents. In late 2020, I transitioned to the role of a lifestyle assistant, and this year, I am grateful to have assumed the position of Lifestyle Lead.


My inspiration to work with the elderly stems from a close relationship with my grandmother, and my passion for the well-being of others has been ingrained in me since childhood. I take pleasure in spending time with residents, engaging in conversations, and learning more about their lives. Discovering their interests, hobbies, and needs enables me to plan a diverse and engaging daily activities schedule. This approach ensures residents remain actively involved in social and uplifting activities.


While devising new ideas can be challenging, the reward comes when these ideas come together. Bringing a smile to a resident's face is something I cherish and find immensely gratifying.

Job Title: Maintenance Manager

I have over 20 years’ experience of working in maintenance engineering. Throughout my career I developed a wide range of skills in plumbing, electrical, locksmith, painting and general building maintenance. We have a great team here, at Acacia Care Centre. I particularly enjoy liaising with residents and their relatives which enables me to make repairs in a timely manner and keep our residents comfortable.
Outside of my work life I like spending time with my family and skydiving.

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping

I have worked with the Future Care Group for 15 years, initially as a member of the housekeeping team. My extensive housekeeping experience enabled me to progress to the Head of Housekeeping role. My priority is to keep the home clean and hygienic to high standard with assistance of hard-working team of housekeepers. I enjoy daily interactions with our residents and their families which makes my work worthwhile. In my free time I love spending time with my grandchildren. I also like playing bingo and going away for breaks.
