We have found the care and support for our uncle to be first-class. On arrival, they know who we are and all of the staff are pleasant and kind. Today, as through the pandemic, they have been excellent.

The staff are friendly, caring and helpful. It’s easy to book visits. Mum is being very well cared for. The facilities are great and it was easy to make arrangements for Mum’s care. I’ve not tried the food but the restaurant always smells great!

My mum was transferred here from hospital during the first pandemic and her care has been amazing throughout. On the odd occasion I met staff due to Covid restrictions they were kind and caring at all times. I could not have wished for somewhere better for Mum to have spent the last nine months of her
life. My mum was obviously very happy here and her bond with the staff shone through on my last visit. They should all be congratulated on their care and compassion especially in these very difficult times.

My mother has been resident at Brunel House for three years, six months. She is well cared for, content and happy to be there, despite her misgivings at giving up her home in 2017.
The staff are wonderful to her, which is so much appreciated by her family.

I haven't been able to see my husband since the middle of March due to COVID. Brunel House have been wonderful. I phone up and we have been able to do video calls. He is very relaxed and happy which is all I ask for. The council owe Brunel House a lot of money and are causing me mental health problems
which not even our MP has been able to deal with. In turn, Brunel House have been very supportive to me.

Brunel House is a very magical place, from the moment that I initially approached them to enquire about care for my mother, to their support and love on her final days, all the staff at every level have been amazing. they have cared for my mother with the utmost of respect and love, and this past week,
whilst I have camped there at mums bedside, they have not only cared for mum, they have looked after me and my family in the most lovely way, from offering us overnight accommodation to feeding us 3 times a day. nothing is ever too much trouble, every member of staff showed respect and care to mum, they are just amazing.

A fabulous home for care. My mum went in very poorly, she needed respite care. She was treated with dignity, respect and the utmost kindness.

My husband has stayed at Brunel House for respite care since January 2018 at least. He has stayed on several occasions and enjoyed every minute he has spent there. The whole place is always spotless, and the food smells mouthwatering if you arrive at mealtimes. The manager is wonderful. She is always
available to talk to visitors, staff and residents and her leadership is continued through to her staff who are all lovely with residents.

My brother was a resident at Brunel House in Box until his recent death. He was not only cared for but loved by all the staff. If care homes were rated 0-6, Brunel would score a ten. In summary, if I ever need a care home I would queue up to be admitted to Brunel. The English language lacks the terminology
to extol the credit Brunel deserves.

Dad was in for respite care. No evidence of any showers, I had to shave him myself before taking him out for coffee. Had to request three times for his bed to be made after lunch time. Wasn’t given any pain relief because the paracetamol was bought over the counter. Had to remind the staff for chair
raisers three times. Dirty clothing hung back up in his wardrobe (not by dad as he would have left it on the side). Staff have not got enough knowledge or understanding of dementia. A gentleman asked for the toilet in the quiet lounge area and was left to wait by a team leader until he had an ‘accident’ in his trousers. The manager was apologetic but not seen on the floor at any time we visited. Very disappointing and added stress at a very difficult time for my family. Sadly could not recommend Brunel House for ‘care’.

I visit my Mum about 4 times a week. She always looks clean and cared for, the management and staff, as always, pleasant and do a really great job. When I leave the home I have no worries that my Mother is well cared for and safe. It's a nice feeling.

Stacy Perkins

Job Title: Dementia Ambassador

Joined: 2013

Hi, my name is Stacy and I am the Dementia Ambassador at Brunel House. My role as an ambassador is to promote person-centred care of the highest standard. I have recently qualified as a trainer with the Alzheimer's Society, this will play a key role in raising awareness and understanding of dementia, and make a positive difference to our residents by empowering our team to develop good practice.


I have worked within the care sector for 19 years and have been at Brunel House since 2013. Whilst at Brunel House I trained as a Care Practitioner and have also worked as an Activities coordinator.


Delivering activities and social events remains a big part of who I am. To make someone smile or hear them laugh, to be the person who has brightened someone's day, to be the ears to listen and the arms that comfort, to redirect thoughts and feelings that may shadow them at times: this is the best feeling in the world.


I live locally with my husband and two daughters. Family is everything to me and we spend our spare time creating cherished memories.

Job Title: Administrator

I love interacting with the residents at Brunel House as I carry out my administration duties. I provide support to the Home Manager, Deputy Manager, relatives and residents, as well as other departments within the home.


My biggest achievement whilst working here has been understanding the payroll admin because it was very difficult to get to grips with. It felt like learning a foreign language!
When I'm not at work, I like to spend time with family and friends; we go to the cinema or to the races.

Hi, I'm Chelsea and I am a Care Practitioner, I completed my training whilst working at Brunel House.

I have worked at Brunel House for 6 years, although I have worked in care for 12 years. The best bit about my role as a Care Practitioner is the clinical practice and admin management of the floor whilst still being able to participate fully with the residents.


The accomplishment I'm most proud of is the creation of the dementia floor which I view as an excellent model to achieve the best possible outcomes for maintaining the quality of life.


When off-duty I love online gaming and I read a lot of sci-fi books, The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings are among my favourites. I also like to explore the local Box hills and have been caving in the Boxwoods!

Job Title: Receptionist

I've worked at Brunel House since 2016. I enjoy working in Reception and meeting all the relatives (they actually become friends after a while).


I have met a lot of very interesting people and shared many ups and downs with them. I believe it's nice to see a friendly face when you walk into the home and try to give a happy vibe to visitors.


I also get the chance to make friends with a lot of the residents and help them in whatever way I can.
I work with a lot of very nice, caring people of all age groups- I like that, especially as I am one of the oldest members of staff!

I thoroughly enjoy my role as Customer Relations Manager at Brunel House. It is a great home with a fantastic team of staff who offer great care to the residents. I am committed to helping families who are looking for residential care for their loved ones by supporting them through the process of choosing and moving in to the home. I strive to ensure that people's needs are met and they get the best experience they can. With a background working in care, I understand what an important and emotional time choosing a care home can be.


I am passionate about our local community and for residents to continue being a part of their local community while living in the home. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering and caravanning with my family and three dogs.
