Foxbridge House in Orpington, Kent, is a purpose-built home offering nursing, respite and residential care, as well as specialist dementia care.

The bright and spacious home has been designed to create a lively, family atmosphere. Residents can enjoy a wealth of luxury features, including a hair and nail salon, a retro-themed cinema and a coffee shop perfect for socialising. All of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, a TV and a 24-hour nurse call system.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are the cornerstones of daily life at Foxbridge House. The team places importance on protecting residents' meal-times as good nutrition and hydration are key to staying well. Family members are very welcome to 'book-in' and join their loved one for a meal.

Most people smile a lot so that is an indication of fun (?) satisfaction and from this general attitude to other staff and to work - they don't get to have hurt feelings of being exploited. There is a general happy satisfactory atmosphere throughout the home.

I was in respite care for three weeks after being in hospital for a serious health condition. This is my second time around. I have both times throughout enjoyed myself and hoping to go back again in May when my daughter goes on holiday. Everybody is so kind, helpful and the food is very good - well
cooked. Considering Covid existed, I thought all the staff coped excellently or looked after us residents extremely well.

Great concerns about staffing, inexperienced to deal with dementia, especially agency staff. Raising staffing levels that appear to be unbalanced and low. Concerns about food especially vegan and vegetarian options and concerns that help to feed is not available. Faeces under fingernails. Lack of control
with patient's clothing and belongings- patients wearing each other's clothes. The communal cafe is a great area to entertain with family.

We are sorry to read about your concerns and we welcome feedback that will help us improve the service we provide. We would like to assure you that we include agency staff on our training programmes and only request agency staff that have experience with residents living with dementia. We also ensure our staffing meet the daily required levels and this is exceeded should residents needs increase. A new vegan diet has now been implemented which we are pleased to say your wife has been enjoying. Unfortunately, at times residents may decline personal care but we would be happy to discuss this concern privately. Finally, we would just like to assure you we are doing our best to improve and manage the labelling of clothing on admission so clothing can be stored safely in resident’s rooms.

My mother has so far been at Foxbridge House for 5 months following a stay in hospital. It has been an extremely emotional time for our family, but during that period we have found every member of the nursing and care staff to show kindness, care and professionalism with my mother at all times, and
are always approachable and friendly. It is evident that they took the time when my mother arrived to get to know her, her family and background, so they can interact and care for her in the best possible way. The Manager has always been available on the phone or emails to answer any questions speedily, and the admin team and receptionists are always polite, helpful and understanding whenever my father or I visit. We so wish that my mother could have continued to live at home with my father, but as her Alzheimer's progressed we know this wasn’t possible. Foxbridge House has so far proved to be the best possible option.

Unfortunately because of Covid rules awaiting management review I had to isolate for the first 5 full days, even after full testing. However, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The second week, I met the residents who all seemed happy to live at Foxbrídge. I have Parkinson's and found
it difficult to find a chair I could easily get up from, and I have swollen legs from knee replacement surgery which I need to elevate, but couldn't find any suitable chair to use. All staff members tried their best to help me throughout my Respite.

Job Title: Home Manager

There are many different aspects of my role as Home Manager at Foxbridge House, but one of my favourites is the opportunity to meet and get to know residents and their families. It’s a huge privilege.


Every person we care for is at the heart of their care: they make decisions about how they want to be cared for, how they want to spend their day and live their life, and we support them to make that happen.


Central to achieving that is having a superb team. We have great people at Foxbridge House who are determined to do their best for residents, relatives and for each other. I’m here to support them to succeed, and Care UK supports me to succeed as well.


While this job is high-pressured and there’s a lot to juggle, the feeling at the end of the day of knowing that you’ve done the best job you can is second to none.
