My mother-in-law moved to Bridge House Care Home during the pandemic and other than her first day and for visits in reception, we have been unable to see her in her room or elsewhere in the home.
All of our contact with staff members has been positive and everything I have seen and read has been of
excellent quality.
I am looking forward to being more involved as the pandemic eases but meanwhile I know that she is being well cared for.

Bridge House Care Home has put the health and safety of its residents and staff to the fore during the Covid Pandemic. While this has meant that the relatives such as myself have not had physical contact with their loved ones I recognise that it is for the good of all. The care given to residents particularly
to provision of activities for them been excellent.

My mother moved into Bridge House on the 1st June with advanced Dementia. Despite the difficulties relating to the COVID virus she appears to be happy and content and also now looks better than she did a few months ago. The activity programme is comprehensive and despite my mother not being able to
comprehend what is going on most of the time I do think she is benefitting from activities going on in the background.

Both my parents moved into Bridge House over a year ago and we are delighted with the care they have received, particularly through the pandemic. Bridge House took immediate steps to protect all their residents and whilst we have not been able to visit, quite understandably, they keep us in touch very
effectively.

Bridge House provides exceptional care in a clean, bright and very happy environment. The staff are always helpful and friendly and you really feel like they do love and want to care for your loved one as you would personally. Communication has been great, especially during this difficult Covid-19 time
and you can always get through to the carers and nurse on your loved one’s floor. They provide excellent varied activities - both in groups and individually, which always keeps the residents amused. It’s such a difficult decision moving a relative into care but with Bridge House I know my mother is in safe hands.

Mum spent the last five years of her long life here and was one of the earliest residents. She was extremely well looked after and the staff related well to her. She took part in many activities, as long as she could, and during her last illness was cared for with sympathy and great kindness. her only
complaints were about the variable quality of meals and the necessity to use agency staff.


The family appreciated being made welcome and coming to know many of them by name.

My mother was a resident at Bridge House Care Home for over five years. Overall a very good care home with a very kind friendly and caring atmosphere, good facilities, activities but expensive. My mother's main issue was the variable quality of food she often complained that meals arrived late with
especially the eggs congealed or not hot. On arrival, she clearly stated she did not eat cheese or tomato but after years in residence, she was still offered pizza etc! Because fo the food issues she did not feel she was getting value for money, and quite upset by the high staff turnover.

I was looking for a care home with nursing facilities for rest of life care for my friend who has Parkinson's. I found most homes to be very busy and noisy. Bridge House is calm, peaceful and can be likened to a good quality hotel. My friend has been there for one year now and he is very happy and has
improved dramatically since he has been there.

My wife has been a resident since August 2017. At first, she took part in all the activities, but as her condition deteriorated she was able to participate less. The care staff, led by an excellent nurse, make every effort to enrich her life. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are well trained,
the facilities well designed. I am treated as well as the residents. The care and compassion are constant.

Dad moved in for a 4 week trial period - his previous assisted living facility being no longer able to provide sufficient care for him.
The move was indeed unsettling for both Dad and us - far more than we had really envisaged but gradually, step by step, with a lot of input and care from everyone
at the Bridge, the settling in happened. The staff cannot be faulted for their care and kindness - both to the family and Dad. Eight weeks after moving in, I feel that we are just about there!

Every effort has been made to welcome my husband. We are impressed that its considered important not only to have a comfortable room but to be near residents with whom he is likely to have common interests.
After two weeks of respite "trial", we have asked for my husband's residence is made permanent.
No hesitation!

My husband is a dementia patient and, as such, he has times when he can be difficult. He is always treated with great kindness and respect by staff who are always happy and smiling. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have infinite patience and a wonderful sense of calm. He tells me 'it is
a good place'.

My father has recently become a resident at Bridge House Care Home. He originally went in for two weeks respite but very quickly decided this is where he wanted to stay permanently.
He had been struggling with walking in his bungalow and had fallen several times.
At Bridge House, he felt safer with
24-hour care. He loves his room and has filled it with his favourite possessions from home.
He says he feels safer now and he is joining in with activities and has a new lease of life.
He said 'everyone is kind and looking after me so I will stay here'.

A very well-run care home in the middle of Abingdon, which has advantages of being near shops, the town centre etc, yet beside the River Thames. A well-designed and well laid out building.


Good management with attentive, cheerful staff. Good programme of activities. Intriguing blend with a 'club'

allowing older non-residents to use facilities (cafe, gym, cinema, salon etc) which brings delightful life to the place. A good business model.

Nice rooms, especially end of the corridor. Good food. Activities most days. Bistro for drinks, light snacks and meeting other people. Very good, friendly staff. Near the park and next to a supermarket. Cannot think of anywhere better.

Bridge House looked after my mother wonderfully well for two and a half years until the end of her life. Bridge House doesn't look like a care home which was why my mother chose it. She could get her hair done in the lovely hair salon then go and have a coffee at the bistro which was her normal routine
before moving to Bridge House. And she was able to go out with the driver on trips around Abingdon which gave her an important sense of freedom
The Riverly Club staff, nurses and care staff took the time to get to know her and understand her needs - she didn't always make it easy but they never stopped trying. They grasped what was most important to my mother and kept that at the forefront of her care, especially as her needs changed over time.
Their end of life care was outstanding - both in how they kept my mother comfortable, peaceful and pain-free and how they supported our family. I can't fault them. I feel very fortunate to have had Bridge House looking after my mother.

Marta

Marta Leszko

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Marta has been part of the Carebase family since 2015 and, as a registered nurse and trained Dementia specialist, she has extensive elderly care experience.


Marta spent an earlier part of her career as Deputy Manager at Bridge House, before returning as Home Manager in 2022. She holds a master’s degree and Leadership and Management qualifications.


Marta is passionate about enabling our wonderful residents to live life to the fullest and providing expert guidance and support to families.


Speaking about her role at Bridge House, Marta said: “Nothing beats seeing residents smile, knowing they are happy and fulfilled. I’m proud to support and develop our wonderful team to deliver excellent care.”


In her spare time, Marta enjoys keeping active by cycling and doing Pilates. She also enjoys travelling and likes to relax by going to the cinema and spending time with friends.


Anita

Anita Radecka

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2016

Anita has been part of our Bridge House family since 2016. From a young age, Anita knew her future was in the care sector when she completed work experience in a hospice and found herself staying late and returning every weekend to spend time with patients. She loved being able to make a positive difference in people’s lives and that passion has definitely transferred to our residents, families and team at Bridge House. And, with extensive care experience including roles as carer, senior carer, head of care, care services manager, and deputy manager, she was our perfect choice for acting home manager.


Speaking about her position at Bridge House, Anita said: “I love how every day is different and that every day you have the opportunity to make someone smile, to make their day better and to have a positive difference – it’s really rewarding. I’m also proud to support and develop our amazing Bridge House team – they truly are exceptional.”


In her spare time, Anita enjoys spending time with her family; her husband Leion and little boy Isaac as well as enjoying a good movie and nice ice cream!
