My mum was really happy at Himley Manor Care Home every time I asked her she said she loved it there. Staff were so kind and caring and went above and beyond to look after her. Mum would join in with some of the activities, she especially liked to have a sing-song. It is very clean and has no "care
home" smell. Overall it is an excellent care home and I would like to thank all of the staff and managers for the care they gave to my mum.

All the staff were very good with my father, the manager explained exactly what they needed from me to help keep him comfortable which helped a lot. All areas I saw were clean and tidy and had 'no care home smell'. The room was a little tired and worn but was clean and functional.

Having had Mum in the home for four months. I have witnessed exceptional care for her. The staff are excellent from the management to the carers.
The surroundings have improved over this period and most areas are now newly decorated and are fresh and clean.

At first I was not sure about this care home, especially as I did not want my Mom to be in care, I thought she could be looked after at home. I was wrong. It's not great looking from the outside and the garden really needs tidying. However, it is very clean (no care home smell) and the standards of
care are exceptional. This care home deserves the highest possible praise and the dedication of all staff is amazing, beyond belief.

My Mum has been at the home for nearly a year now, a big improvement on her previous (short term) accommodation as there are no issues with visiting and access to see her. Senior carers and management seem caring, professional and attentive to her needs. The only issues appear to be around meals which
are not always that great or appropriate for her nutritional needs and sometimes simple things like an afternoon cup of tea are missed (and she looks forward to this and biscuits). The fact she won't leave her room does make it harder on staff I appreciate, many have tried to persuade her to explore the facilities - but sadly all have failed (as have the family). The room could be better but is generally good enough - at least her window has been repaired. The draws in particular are starting to look a bit worn. Those are the only real negatives though, generally speaking, this is good care home and she is well looked after there.

Thank you for your feedback which we have taken on board. We now ask daily choice of meals required and I hope the issue with cups of tea on an afternoon has been resolved. Overall standards are quite good. Meals could do with improving everything seems to be served up together and hot meals soon go cold. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Himley Manor Care Home is welcoming. It has a clean, safe and fresh environment for residents. The care given to my relative is good. Staff and management are very helpful and hardworking. Meals are good and there are facilities for residents to enjoy company and activities. The phone system could be
improved for relatives wishing to residents in the house as calls are not always picked up and to go to answerphone or cut off. The home has improved with upgraded decoration in communal areas. Rooms of relatives could do with a bit of improvement with new fixtures/fitting/(carpets, lampshades and visitors chairs).

My father came ot this care home in March 2021. The manager and staff have been nothing but welcome and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and my dad is always clean and presentable. He is well cared for. The home is bright and colourful and welcoming for young children to visit relatives. The tea
room for visiting has been decorated and is a lovely homely setting to visit relatives. The manager has worked hard to make this home a happy environment.

During the period that my cousin was a resident at Himley Manor Care Home there have been a lot of changes, particularly in terms of home managers and staff since June 2018. All changes have brought improvements in all aspects as noted in my observations below.
During the last few months of her life,

My mother became a resident in early January 2021. Because of lockdown, I was unable to settle her in but the staff were extremely nice and welcomed her and made her feel settled. The management were easy to contact and put me at ease about my mom. She has settled well, staff are all kind and friendly.
My mom looks a lot better since she has been a resident. I have been able to visit now and the staff say she is doing really well. I am very pleased.

My mother was looked after to a very high standard. The care assistants who I met all seemed lovely and very caring and kind. They spoke to my mother very sweetly. My mother has stated that everyone who worked there was really nice, and she would happily go back for more respite. I'm very impressed

At the time of this review, Mum was at end of life and used very few facilities.
Staff were very caring answering all our questions, treated us with kindness and respect.
At Mum's passing, all carers were extremely respectful and were part of our extended family.

My sister moved into Himley Manor four and a half years ago and settled in very well. However, it soon became apparent that there were problems with staff and even management leaving. Happily, that has now changed and under the leadership of our new manageress, things have changed very much for the
better. Meals are good, and care from the staff is very good.
Anyone looking for a home for their relative or loved one should not base their decision solely on the CQC 2019 report. Go to the home, talk to the manager and staff then make your decision.

Tracey Pearson

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2020

I began working in the care sector in 1997. Whilst working in my first care home I also worked in the area's local hospitals and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience.


During my career, I completed my Registered Manager Award in 2010 and gained degrees in Leadership & Management Level 5 and Strategic Management Level 7.


In 2009 I took my first Registered Managers position and have worked in a number of dementia care homes since.


I came to Himley Manor in November 2020. I am extremely proud to be the Manager of Himley Manor Care Home and also its hard-working staff team. I firmly believe that to work in care you have to CARE, it is a passion not just a job and I look for this in potential new staff during recruitment.


I am responsible for the operational running of the home. This covers all aspects of care delivery including managing the team of staff within the home to uphold standards and most importantly ensure our resident's care needs are met.


My favourite aspect of my job role is getting to chat with the residents and seeing them smiling daily.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I began my career in care in 2013 working as a part-time care assistant in a nursing home. I spent the next 9 years improving my skills and knowledge and gaining experience and was promoted to Senior Carer and Care Administrator. In this role, I was responsible for creating and maintaining care plans, risk assessments, auditing and reviews of residents' needs as well as the training, induction and mentoring of staff.


I worked as a deputy manager in a residential home for a year before coming to Himley Manor in February 2024. I assist the Registered Manager Tracey with the day-to-day running of the home, providing support to staff to ensure the care and services provided are of a high standard and enabling us to meet required regulations.


I have completed my NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and achieved a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care in 2018. My next step is to complete my Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management to build on the care and management skills I have already. I have extensive training in a range of different aspects of health and social care, including a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia.


Himley Manor is a friendly home full of caring and hardworking staff who put residents first and go above and beyond to meet their needs. My favourite part of working at Himley Manor is seeing the residents being well looked after and the joy the staff get from caring for and interacting with them.

Jade Handley

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

I started working at Himley Manor in May 2024. My job involves giving medication to residents, manging staff and making sure residents stay happy and healthy. I have worked in care for many years since I left school. I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and have many other qualifications relevant to my role.

Job Title: Family Representative

My mom has been a resident at Himley Manor since January 2021. She is very well cared for by all of the staff who are kind and friendly and work to a high standard. The home is well maintained, always clean and tidy and you are always made to feel welcome.


I started volunteering 18 months ago, as I wanted to give something back to the care home for taking care of my mom. I help with activities, organise fund-raising raffles and competitions and help with the Summer and Christmas Fetes. This allows us to provide entertainment for the residents - they love a sing and dance!! It is a pleasure to talk to the residents and have a chat with all the staff.

Job Title: Maintenance

Joined: 2023

I started working at Himley Manor in April 2023 and was employed as maintenance. I enjoy keeping the home safe and tidy and I'm always busy doing odd jobs to make sure everything is as it should be. I complete PAT testing on all electrical equipment, make sure the gardens and carparks are kept tidy and do general everyday maintenance around the home. I am responsible for painting and decorating the home to keep it looking fresh and welcoming. I am also trained in Fire Safety.


I enjoy working at Himley Manor and interacting with the residents every day. I like to know that I am doing my job to make the home a safe place for everyone.

Job Title: Head Cook

Joined: 2018

I am the head cook and I have worked at Himley Manor since 2018. I am responsible for running the kitchen, managing staff and making sure standards are kept high. We proudly hold 5 stars following a recent inspection from Environmental Health. I enjoy working in the kitchen and making sure the residents are having food they enjoy including homemade puddings and snacks! I have worked in the care industry since 1993 and been working in catering since the age of 14. My favourite part of the job is seeing the residents enjoying their meals.
