It was a huge relief to find there is a Dementia care home that could respond to the individual needs of my father. He was treated as an individual with particular needs; at times he was difficult to manage but the staff all did their best to care and provide him with the dignity he deserved in the
final few months of the very long life he had. Thank you.

This care home is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they all became like a 'second family' to us. There are too many to mention here, but it is really everyone who works there, including the kitchen staff, the cleaners, the maintenance staff, the receptionists, the carers and
the Management and anyone else we have missed. Thank you all for your continuing patience, skills, attention to detail and care and we would strongly recommend this care home to anyone who has family/friends with dementia at any level. We are sure you won't be disappointed. Thank you.

My Auntie received respite care at Vida Hall and was looked after amazingly, staff were always available to support her and were so genuinely friendly. The quality of care was leaps above anywhere else I have encountered and the cleanliness was outstanding. I can't fault the care at all and was all
in all a 5-star experience. I never once left her concerned for her safety or well-being. The cost is above average but it shows in the staffing levels, staff quality, cleanliness, decor, I could go on. Worth every penny for a loved one.

From entering the building I was impressed. The receptionist was so professional and very friendly. We came into contact with a number of staff and each one spoke and smiled at us. The home was very clean and very well presented. I noticed how secure it all was, which was a comfort. Her room was charming,
it was so inviting, warm, clean and very comfortable. All the staff we saw were very caring and kind. My relative could not praise the home or staff enough, she loved it there. I will give Vida Hall top marks (perfect).

Visiting Vida Hall has changed my perception of nursing/care homes. I was pleasantly surprised by the way it’s run, the rooms are spacious and spotless. Moving a loved one into a care home is the hardest decision to ever make. Our overall experience of Vida Hall has been outstanding from when my mum moved in first moved in, the whole staff team are available, open, friendly, and supportive of both my mum's needs and ours as a family. The home is spotlessly
clean and her room is homely, they encouraged us to bring items in from home. Offering advice on the best tags to get for clothing etc, all things you don’t actually think about. We are kept up to date by the app which is of great comfort. Whenever we ring to ask a question, it is always thoroughly explained to us. My mum is always treated with respect and dignity.

My Father has been at Vida Hall since May 2022. Due to distance, I am only able to visit my Dad, 3 times a year. I have noticed a significant improvement, in his general health and well-being. As he has Dementia, there are still difficult days, but I have noticed with each visit that the team at Starbeck
are professional, caring and sensitive to all my Dad's needs. Knowing this is a great comfort to me. (Other family members, who live close by, reassure me, he is always given this high level of care.) Last week the team hosted a 60th Wedding anniversary celebration for my Dad and Mum. So that my Mum and other family members could celebrate together with him. Our whole family was astonished at the kindness of the whole team, in providing some delicious food and drinks for us all. Along with a beautifully decorated cake. Staff looked after us with such care and shared with us in the celebration. We were overwhelmed with joy, by it. Thank you to all the team for your genuine care.

My Dad has been in Vida Hall since May 2022. He has greatly improved in his ability to communicate with us as a family, residents and staff since his move to Vida Hall in Starbeck. I travel down from Scotland three times a year to see our family. I have had some very positive visits with my dad, considering
the fact that he doesn't see me regularly. With the members of staff saying 'what a gentleman he is'. While visiting recently in July, it was my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. The home went above and beyond with the decorations, beautiful food, drinks and obvious delight at seeing our reactions to all their hard work and preparations. We were all in tears at the kindness and love that was shown that day, the staff are so dedicated and genuine in all they do. We are so very grateful, thankyou again for the consistent and professional levels of care, that make your home a safe and supportive place to stay.

The care given at Vida Hall to both residents and their families is exemplary. I wanted the best for my parents in their final years and after much research found it here. Carefully selected and highly trained carers give efficient and tender care with attention to individual requirements and interests.
Turnover of carers is minimal. They are allocated to individual residents resulting in detailed knowledge of them and their needs. This, together with freshly cooked food by qualified chefs, and high quality surroundings made the decision to move my parents into care a much easier decision which I have never regretted. I cannot praise Vida Hall and its staff too highly.

The lady at the reception desk is so friendly and welcoming every time we visit. She goes above and beyond to help.

Mum is now in her sixth year at Vida Hall and her care throughout has been excellent. Mum celebrated her 100th Birthday in March and thanks to both the management and the amazing staff we were able to enjoy some time with her on her special day as a family and we will be forever grateful. Her care throughout
has been exceptional no matter which unit she has been resident in. She has needed to be moved, as her dementia has progressed and her care needs have changed. This has been done seamlessly from the initial assessment to the transition to the new unit. If anyone has any doubts about placing their loved one at Vida, you don't need to have any concerns. The care is focused and individual, the staff are professional, caring and empathetic and the management team keep the standards high. Thank you to all the staff for the love and care you provide our mum, you're amazing!

My husband has been at Vida Hall since September 2021, and we as a family could not be happier with the care he receives. Vida Healthcare’s beliefs on how individuals living with Dementia should be cared for are exemplary - beliefs which every member of a caring, kind and patient staff, upholds. They

My cousin is in her 4th year at Vida Hall. She has always been given high class care, recently she was transferred to the nursing unit Glade, as she needed extra care. This seems to have been a successful move, and currently is improving. All her needs are catered for by an excellent team of carers
and nurses, under whom, all her medical needs are attended to. I have always been highly satisfied with all aspects of her care.

Dad has been a resident for 18 months. He has gone from strength to strength and is brilliantly cared for on orchard view. He is more engaged and in better physical condition than when he was at home. He is able to communicate daily with Mum via Skype and staff are great at accommodating his routines
as he gets agitated when things don’t go according to plan. A birthday pod visit was safe and well organised too.

Clare

Clare Shuker

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2014

Clare joined Vida Hall in 2014 and has worked in the Elderly Care sector for over ten years in various roles ranging from Senior Carer to Health & Social Care NVQ Assessor. During Clare's time at university, she took a community based route where she was able to source her own placements in primary and community care settings; district nursing, hospice care, palliative care, community matrons to name a few. After qualifying from university as a trained nurse, Clare went on to further train to be a Practice Nurse and earned a triangulated role between Leeds West CCG. Clare spent time overseeing the Nursing houses before becoming the Home Manager of Vida Hall.


Joanne

Joanne Mossman

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Joined: 2024

Joanne is a Registered Mental Health Nurse who has worked alongside people living with dementia since she was 16.


Joanne started working as a weekend receptionist in a care home and did various roles until she was able to work as a Care Assistant. Joanne worked at Vida Hall whilst completing her nurse training. Once qualified, Joanne worked on a Dementia Care Assessment Ward in Newcastle before returning to Vida Grange as a Nurse.

Akos Heresznyei

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Joined: 2013

Akos has worked in health & social care for more than 13 years. He has been a part of the team at Vida Hall since it opened and worked through all levels and areas. Akos started as night care assistant in 2013 and developed his career as team leader, senior team leader, house manager then became deputy manager in 2024.
Akos was awarded the Quality Award for Vida Hall in 2018. He gained qualification as a PIDC coach within the organisation, focusing on restraint reduction in our residents’ care.

Job Title: Operations Manager

Lizzie Joined the team at Vida Hall in 2024 as Operations manager, Lizzie has a background in customer service, hospitality and front of house and nothing is too much trouble. You will see Lizzie around and about during the day as she supports the operations team to make sure everything in the building runs smoothly. Lizzie Is here for the staff, residents and families and loves to get hands-on and get tasks completed.

Job Title: Clinical Development Lead

Joined: 2021

Terri has over 40 years experience of working as a Nurse in the NHS. During the last 14 years Terri has worked in the role as Community Matron., this involved caring for patients in all settings across the community. Terri has studied at Degree and Masters level, enabling her to both diagnose and prescribe medications within her competency levels. Terri is the Clinical Development Lead across Vida Healthcare and works closely with the Nurses and House Managers.

Bernadette is an experienced healthcare professional who started her career as a community psychiatric nurse in Glasgow. She boasts more than 25 years of experience in both public and private sector roles. Prior to joining Vida in October 2011, she worked as a regional manager for a large care provider where she was responsible for managing ten homes comprising 450 personnel and 300 beds. Bernadette is the Healthcare Director for Vida Healthcare and oversees both homes.

Arron Bolland

Job Title: Learning, Development and Quality Manager

Joined: 2013

Arron is a qualified as Registered Mental Health Nurse and joined Vida Healthcare in 2013. Arron has been a House Manager, and Quality Assurance Manager and has now transitioned into his new role as Learning, Development and Quality Manager. With many years of experience in the care sector, Arron is passionate about the delivery of quality dementia care. Gabriella started working at Vida Healthcare in January 2017 as a Care Team Leader. She has over 15 years of experience in the care industry and has achieved her NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Since joining Vida, Gabi has also completed a Leadership and Management course. In 2020, Gabi took on the role of Roster Coordinator and in 2024 became Vida Healthcare's Admission Coordinator.
