Our nan/mum has been at Chiltern Grange Care Home since April 2022. She has settled in well and seems really happy. She now enjoys taking part in all the activities that they provide, including the day trips that the home run. Staff are hard working and very helpful, this was demonstrated with the recent
move to the ground floor while level one was being decorated. As a family, we are happy with Chiltern Grange Care Home.

My 95-year-old mother was treated with respect and very well looked after. The staff were caring, always considerate and always on the ball about her needs, especially medical. The room and grounds were lovely. My Mother's only complaint was the food, but this improved greatly during her time there.

Found everyone friendly and helpful. Very happy with his care.
They all tried their best to make him settle in even though his Alzheimer’s can make him very difficult. I would happily leave him there in the future.

I was worried that I had to leave my mother for longer than usual as I had to go to France for eight days. I usually visit two-three times a week. I needn’t have worried. She was absolutely fine. Sitting in the garden with three other residents, drinking chocolate milkshake. Obviously hadn’t missed
me or even asked where I had been. This gives me confidence that she is settling. Every carer that comes to her she says ‘you’re lovely’ which is so nice to see. The carers are really cheerful and always have time for any questions. I am so grateful for their care of Mum.

My father is undertaking a second stay at Chiltern Grange Care Home for respite care due to deteriorating health. The application and admission process was very efficiently handled, and he has been well cared for during his period of recovery. The nursing staff have been very attentive and quick to
deal with any lapses in his recovery, compensating for the somewhat indifferent GP support. Physically, my father is in a much better state of health than when he arrived. Mentally, he is still very capable, so it is a shame that there is not more social activity or interaction that he could be encouraged to participate in.

My mother came to Chiltern Grange Care Home for respite care while I had a short break away. My mother was extremely well looked after. The staff were so kind and helpful throughout her stay. This was the first time my mother had been in a care home. She is 89 and found the whole experience a pleasant
one. The chef was most obliging and sorted out a nice, soft diet for her which she liked. I am told the afternoon cakes were a delight and very scrumptious. The only thing my mother found was that the mattress was too hard for her, she did ask a member of staff if they had a softer one. Unfortunately, there was not one in storage. Therefore she tried to sleep on the outside of the covers, this made sleeping difficult. Next time I will make sure I take a travel mattress for her, just in case. All in all, my mother was very contented and would be happy to stay again.

The staff were wonderful and looked after my mother very well when she was in for a month's respite care. Her room was nice and spacious, with a good view of the garden, and she was happy there. I would recommend it to anyone.

My Dad, at weeks away from reaching 100 years old, is relatively happy. Cannot fault the staff with their dedication, care, compassion and support. The room my Dad is in is quite nice and overlooks the garden. The bed is extremely comfortable apparently! The dining room is lovely, clean and inviting.
Portion sizes don't seem to cater to the individual though. One size fits all regardless of appetite. Also at times (for my Dad) the choices are far "too modern" for his taste. The cooked breakfast is good and eaten most days though. All in all, fairly content.

Mum moved into Chiltern Grange Care Home a few years back, just when Covid and lockdown started in the UK. She was always happy there and well looked after. The clinical team were kind and compassionate and the carers helping her on a daily basis are very supportive of her needs. All team members contributed
in some way to make her stay enjoyable and ensure she felt at home. She has only just left to move to a sister care home, still in the Porthaven Care Homes group, to live closer to me. I would thoroughly recommend the group and the services at Chiltern Grange. Thank you to the whole team, as we appreciate many people work behind the scenes, who make considerable contributions to the residents' care, not just those staff who the visitors meet.

On arrival, I was needing a great deal of help, and this was available immediately. I felt cared for and safe in my surrounding and so comfortable as I was so impressed. I began to wish my husband could become a resident here in comparison to the care home he is residing at.

Mum has been at Chiltern Grange Care Home since March 2020. All the staff, whatever their duties, are always very helpful and polite despite the behaviour of residents that can sometimes be challenging. The home is spacious, clean, has a nice garden and lovely food. Residents are encouraged to join
in activities where possible but the carers accept that residents also want some time alone. Unfortunately, during 2022, several members of staff left and there was a period when the home was short-staffed. This appears to have been resolved and, hopefully, the staff will remain in place as familiar faces are important to the residents.

The care home has been home for my mother for over five years and it feels like home. The staff are very good, especially the first-floor manager. The building is well maintained and the domestic staff are also very caring. I cannot imagine my mother being anywhere else.

It is incredibly hard letting someone else look after your loved parent but the staff at Chiltern Grange Care Home made that transition a much more pleasant experience than we expected. The staff are caring and helpful and our precious mother is well looked after and cared for. I am unable to visit
as often as I would like but thank you to all of you.

My mother has been at Chiltern Grange Care Home for nearly three years with dementia. The care and love the staff give to my mother and all the patients is second to none. Mum is so well cared for and if there are any issues, they contact either my brother or I straight away. The home is spotlessly
clean, light, airy, very friendly and with activities every day for the residents to enjoy. If it was for me, this is where I would wish to be.

We just wanted to express our gratitude to you all for the outstanding care you gave our mum while she was with you. We really couldn't have asked for better from you or from the exceptional facilities with its welcoming, caring environment that you've nurtured. We are all so appreciative of the diligence,
patience and compassion shown by everyone which made Mum feel safe and looked after. Nothing was ever too much trouble; we're particularly thankful for the unfailing kindness, thoughtfulness and sensitivity with which one member of staff showed us and to Mum, especially when dealing with her most difficult treatments. It was a great reassurance to us and a great comfort to her, knowing that she was in the best of care.

Thank you for the welcome card, flowers and chocolate! I was pleasantly surprised when shown to my room, it was so bright with windows and a door to the garden. I spent a lot of time by the windows reading and bird watching - so many! However, I was disappointed that the residents on the whole did not
encourage me to join in the activities! Note to me: another time take knitting or a puzzle!

My father has been a resident at Chiltern Grange Care Home for over four years and I am very happy with the care he is receiving. The nurses always contact me if there are any concerns about his health and he is treated with dignity and respect and care. The carers encourage him to have his meals in
the dining room but respect his wishes if he prefers to eat in his room. He is provided with alternative meals (cheese and biscuits) if he doesn't like the main meals offered.

Overall as a family, we are happy, however, at times the ratio of staff to residents is very low - i.e. when collecting clothes are often unappropriated, damaged, mismatched and dirty, on occasion our relative has not been showered. They have also lost a noticeable amount of weight, we are aware that
this is typical for a dementia patient but feel if carers had time they could monitor volumes.

Hello, my name is Jackie Chicken, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Chiltern Grange.


Having previously worked in the retirement sector for four years, I was delighted to make the move into the care sector in 2022. My previous career was spent in the luxury travel industry, so delivering excellent customer service has always been high on my agenda.


Porthaven has a wonderful reputation in terms of quality of care and beautiful design, so I feel very privileged to work for one of the best care providers in the country. My role at Chiltern Grange means I am the first point of contact for families starting out on that journey to find the best fit in terms of a caring environment for their loved ones. I love the fact that we provide person-centred care, and I really enjoy showcasing the wonderful facilities, newly refurbished spaces and exceptional staff we are fortunate enough to have here at Chiltern Grange.


Outside of work, you can find me as a chaperone in the wings of a theatre supporting my daughter or cheering my son on from the side of a rugby pitch!
