My mother was transferred from hospital at the height of the pandemic for respite and rehabilitation care.
The staff took all the worry away from me in organising quick assessments and safe transfer. My mum settled well and has made excellent progress in her recovery.

I am delighted with the overall quality and standard of care that my mum has received at Chiltern Grange. She has been extremely happy with the staff and the care they provide, and in particular, she loves the food! Staff are happy, positive and yet respectful and professional. The floor my mum stays
on is kept immaculate and the staff are always attentive, no matter what time of day. I think they do more than care just for physical needs, they obviously care about the whole person. My mum's health, happiness and general wellbeing seem to be topmost on their agenda, and they always have time to talk things through. I am particularly impressed with the quality of the food, the range of the menu and its presentation. As well as keeping all meals healthy, they provide attention to detail which is exceptional. This includes little snacks like homemade biscuits or cake, as well as all of the main meals. Most of all my mum is happy and safe here, and that's everything I could wish for.

Chiltern Grange looked after Mum for two weeks while we adapted her home following a hospital stay. They responded quickly, efficiently, personally and incredibly kindly to our urgent need. They did a great deal to help rehabilitate Mum for her return home and were very responsive to her high dependency
needs. They are a kind, caring and well run nursing environment and very importantly, the food was lovely. We are very grateful for all they did for us at a difficult time.

The care provided at Chiltern Grange is excellent, I could not be happier in the knowledge that my mum is safe and well. The staff at Chiltern Grange provide superb levels of care in all areas from nursing and general care through to housekeeping and catering. There is always a busy programme of activities
to keep the residents occupied and stimulated with the staff actively encouraging participation.
The management and admin teams provide regular communications to relatives which, under the current circumstances that prevent visiting are invaluable.

This is an exceptional home, I assist two residents at the home who both moved in just before Christmas. One is on the ground floor and the other on the dementia floor and both are being looked after exceptionally well and have settled without a problem.
The home has managed to have in place lots of
activities even through these difficult times and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. The home is clean and the rooms are spacious and the food is varied. Both residents were welcomed on arrival and I felt happy to leave them in the staff's capable hands.

My wife (a former social care officer and retired psychotherapist) and I visited and reviewed a number of facilities within 20 miles of our home to select a care home for my older sister. In our opinion, Chiltern Grange was the cleanest, provided the best range of care, the most modern, with the friendliest
staff and the happiest of all those we visited. My sister has been at Chiltern Grange now for over a year and the opinion we initially formed has been substantiated in every aspect, especially in the most trying times.

The nursing home exudes a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff are very professional and caring. The receptionist is extremely helpful and always able to answer any queries. The manager is extremely capable and is always willing to chat and discuss your loved one. You are never rushed and always given

Having stayed at 'The Grange' previously, I can only say I found my stay rewarding. They can only follow guidelines on Coronavirus as laid out and this has been observed very well. Overall a well-run ship. Always someone to help. Lovely garden to sit in, but the constant drone of the motorway is rather
off-putting. I found it a cheerful place with most people mixing well. The staff are very good, including the office staff. Just wish there was a small shop for necessities.

My mother has been a resident at Chiltern Grange for 18 months. Her and our experience has been very positive. The care home is light, warm, clean, and well run. The staff are friendly and caring and have managed to ensure the home was COVID-free. My mother is happy with the food, the beautiful outdoor

After having a really difficult time in the last few months before coming to Chiltern Grange, it is such a relief to see Mum gradually regaining her appetite and seeing her anxieties reduce. All the staff have been kind and approachable and always have an encouraging word for Mum and us. Chiltern Grange
has done everything possible to facilitate visits within the current restrictions and seem to particularly understand the impact that not being able to visit, has on those who suffer from dementia and their loved ones. We, as a family, are so grateful for all the efforts being made to be flexible with visits whilst maintaining best practice with following all the guidelines.

My mother-in-law moved into Chiltern Grange in November 2019. Since then, she has been well looked after in terms of both her health and her appearance. This has been well received by her family, and whenever there has been a concern, we have been able to discuss the matter with the appropriate person.
An example of this was when she started to lose weight. Via the management, in Chiltern Grange, we were engaged with the dietician whilst an assessment of the situation was made with both my mother-in-law and the staff at the home. The outcome was positive, and my mother-in-law has once again put on some weight and appears to be consuming more.
As things were going so well for my mother-in-law, we nominated Chiltern Grange as a possible destination for a family friend about to be discharged from hospital. Unfortunately, there is not an appropriate vacancy which says something for the quality of life being experienced at Chiltern Grange during these difficult times with COVID.

My mother was not keen to go into a home but was persuaded to for respite care while I and my husband went on holiday. On the first visit to her after the holiday, she was more alert and happy to stay at the home for a little longer and three weeks later did not want to go home at all. She always tells
me how kind the staff are and how she can talk to the staff about her worries or fears. This is a great relief to me as her dementia has got a lot worse over the last year, and I was finding it difficult to converse with her over matters that may be worrying her. She also has much more contact with people of her own age and likes going to meals with them and taking part in activities. Thanks must go to the staff for making my mother so welcome, and also for making me feel that I made the right decision.

Our parent's moved to Chiltern Grange a few weeks into lockdown, so our father could receive the support and care he needed in the final months of his life, and our mother, who has moderate dementia, could also be cared for and as safe as our father's ability to support her waned. This was a huge change
for both of them and brought with it difficulties, fear and stress compounded by their medical needs and the reality of a terminal illness. Throughout it, the staff have been supportive, professional and above all caring helping Mum and Dad through this very difficult period as well as kindly and flexibly supporting us, their close family, at a time when visiting and contact was difficult.
Aware of our father's prognosis, we viewed various care homes in the area, before any of us could know the added strains COVID 19 would throw at us - Chiltern Grange was our preferred home for a simple reason - the staff care and therefore you trust them to do their best. Thank you.

Chiltern Grange is an excellent care home that creates a friendly and welcoming environment. All the staff are excellent; very professional, courteous and have empathy for the residents they care for. The home provides a relaxing, calming and comfortable place to live. The communication between the
care home and residents’ relatives is second to none, with weekly in-depth updates. Porthaven’s and Chiltern Grange’s reaction to the COVID challenge has been superb, with well thought through measures and regular communication with both residents and relatives; very impressive. It’s a pleasure to visit the home and comforting to know that my father is receiving excellent care and support.

My father moved into Chiltern Grange Care Home a week before lockdown and what could have been a very difficult and unsettling time for him, was, in fact, the best thing that happened to him. He was helped to settle in and meet everyone. All the staff are absolutely amazing and I cannot sing their
praises highly enough. They not only physically care but also give emotional support. He is quite a shy person but there are plenty of activities arranged, which he is encouraged to participate in and certainly will always attend the singing on a Friday afternoon and the games of draughts. He has just celebrated his 95th birthday and had a lovely cake made for him - this made his day. Thank you very much to all staff at Chiltern Grange Care Home and please carry on as you have been doing.

Mum moved into the care home mid-March after a long stay in hospital. From the assessment stage in hospital to her arrival at the home, Mum was treated with great respect and dignity. She was asked about her preferences and was listened to. All the staff went out of their way to help Mum settle into
her new home.
The room is lovely and being able to add personal touches too has been a great help to Mum.
All her visitors comment on how lovely the home is and how beautiful the gardens are. They have been made extremely welcome by all the staff.
It has been a great comfort to all the family to know that Mum is safe and being well cared for. During this difficult period, we have been kept up to date about the home and Mum by the staff. We have been able to take advantage of Skype to talk to and see Mum.
The management and all the staff have done their best in extremely difficult times to maintain the very high standards offered at this home.

My mother was admitted at the start of the lockdown in March. We went with our gut feelings established on a brief visit (we could not go beyond reception) and two very welcoming and reassuring meetings in reception.
Some of the responses to the presented options below have been difficult to make as
we have no practical experience. Mum returned home yesterday and was full of praise for her experience over the past three months... she felt safe and cared for, there is nothing more we could have asked during this time.
Where responses are satisfactory they are based on no experience as we were never allowed beyond the reception.

Mum entered Chiltern Grange for respite care in early February. Mum has Alzheimer's and almost immediately, there was a significant and positive improvement to her mood, desire to socialise, eating and general wellbeing. It was such a relief to see her happier than she had been in a long time; being
continuously entertained and properly looked after. Two weeks rolled to four and onwards, to the maximum of eight weeks, at which point the global pandemic had taken hold and moving her back to independent living was clearly not an option. Chiltern Grange were so supportive at every step of the way and were able to accommodate her permanently. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, always aware of how Mum is and it really feels like they've got to know her well in a very short space of time. The consistency of the staffing team is very reassuring, particularly during the Coronavirus situation and we Skype with her every Sunday. I feel grateful, every day, that we found Chiltern Grange.

Hello, my name is Jackie Chicken, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Chiltern Grange.


Having previously worked in the retirement sector for four years, I was delighted to make the move into the care sector in 2022. My previous career was spent in the luxury travel industry, so delivering excellent customer service has always been high on my agenda.


Porthaven has a wonderful reputation in terms of quality of care and beautiful design, so I feel very privileged to work for one of the best care providers in the country. My role at Chiltern Grange means I am the first point of contact for families starting out on that journey to find the best fit in terms of a caring environment for their loved ones. I love the fact that we provide person-centred care, and I really enjoy showcasing the wonderful facilities, newly refurbished spaces and exceptional staff we are fortunate enough to have here at Chiltern Grange.


Outside of work, you can find me as a chaperone in the wings of a theatre supporting my daughter or cheering my son on from the side of a rugby pitch!
