Welcome to Alexandra Court in Hull a purpose-built care home located in Hull. Just 2.3 miles from the city centre.

Each of the 72 ensuite bedrooms is furnished to the highest standard, offering residents the chance to enjoy pure comfort and tranquillity.

At Alexandra Court providing independence and choice is very important – that is why the home encourages residents to personalise their rooms with their own belongings to help them feel at home and as comfortable as possible.

All residents are supported to live an active and fulfilled life. The person-centred care enables residents to keep on doing the things they’ve always loved – and often the things they perhaps thought they could no longer enjoy.

As part of the Hull-based community, residents can help themselves to drinks and snacks, help out in the garden and other hobbies and exercise their usual routines which enable residents to make their lives theirs.

The facilities at Alexandra Court allow residents to enjoy other everyday routines that promote independence, from utilising the beauty salon, enjoying the gardens or simply catching up with friends in the peaceful lounges at Alexandra Court.

Alexandra Court has a busy activities timetable, built around the key goals of mental stimulation, increased mobility and social engagement. Activities include arts and crafts sessions, gardening, exercise classes, cinema nights, quizzes, musical performances, and pamper sessions. There will be a great variety of activities to try, with new activities added frequently.

The in-house chefs will prepare exceptional food from fresh, seasonal produce that’s locally sourced where possible. Menus will include a mix of delicious and nutritious options including traditional classic meals, Residents’ favourites and exciting international cuisine.

We have a family member residing at Alexandra Court and in the past have had some issues with the laundry and food which we repeatedly found hard to resolve but since the new recent manager has taken over - what a difference in such a short time. She is polite, helpful and listens to your issues and
always greeted with a smile and a good word. This has been also said by many of the other families.

The care centre is clean and presentable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere within Alexandra Court Care Centre is very welcoming. It feels like a little safe haven village under one roof.
I am extremely happy that my grandmother is being looked after in this amazing home, the
staff have encouraged my grandfather to enjoy his musical talents once again. He is looking forward to performing his concert.

Mum came into the home due to bereavement of Dad.
All staff have been excellent and accommodating of Mum's physical emotional and psychological needs. Mum settled on first meeting all staff and other residents. Mum enjoys all the daily activities. Prior to admission Mum ate very little. Since Mum has
enjoyed eating all meals. Family are impressed with care and attention Mum has received.

My mum has been staying at Alexandra Court since end of November 2023 for respite care following a long stay in hospital. Initially Mum had hospital dementia and we were very concerned for her safety and wellbeing as she was quite unwell and confused. From the day she arrived at Alexandra Court we started
to relax as Mum was looked after by a specialist team who are experienced in dealing with such care needs. Whilst Mum's behaviours were quite concerning to the family, we were regularly reassured that this was not uncommon and that mum would eventually settle and staff kept us updated regularly. Mum has shown significant progress whilst staying at Alexandra Court and is back to the mum we know and love. She has developed a lovely relationship with the staff and if we rarely have cause to raise any niggles we speak directly to the staff or manager and things are addressed as soon as possible. Thank you Alexandra Court for looking after my precious mum so well.

My grandma received a range of care whilst staying here for three years. There are some genuine carers/seniors who go above and beyond. Unfortunately, there were numerous safeguarding concerns regarding neglect, which management didn't take seriously. Care staff weren't held accountable by the management
team, which meant that the issues continued. The dementia unit is too big/busy, which means there is very little interaction. Residents are left in the lounge with no engagement or, sometimes, supervision. Residents do become physical with each other, which results in them becoming hurt. I've seen residents becoming upset by this, and no reassurance or comfort was given. Sadly, we had to move my grandma to a different care home due to no improvements.

Having spoken with the management team I understand that several meetings were held of which you found the resolutions unacceptable.
Alexandra Court was last inspected by CQC in April 2022 whereupon our rating was given as an overall “Good” across all categories , Safe ,Effective , Caring , Responsive and Well Led. It was reinspected in July 2023 where CQC stated “ We have not found evidence that we need to re-assess at this stage “
We are disappointed that your experience at Alexandra Court was a negative one but are happy that your Grandma is now settled in her new home.

My mum thoroughly enjoyed her two periods here at Alexandra Court. Mum was treated so well, all the staff were so caring and supportive. As a family, we were able to see Mum as often as we wanted and to be involved in all her care. Her room was made into a home from home. Beautiful garden.

Visiting my friend's Mum, she was so well cared for, it was evident to see that the staff cared. I was impressed with how inclusive visitors are, I have been in many care homes and Alexandra ticked all the boxes. It would appear the staff seem to enjoy their work.

Well run residential care home, with lovely caring staff. If anything they seemed run off their feet (only two staff and a cleaner) when I was there. Very clean. My mum was only in for one week for respite but wish we could convince her to stay. Would definitely be the home of my choice when the time
comes for permanent care.

I am very pleased with the care my mum receives here. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The home is very clean and always smells fresh. Plenty of things for Mum to do in the activities and I have no complaints about the home.

Although my mother had only a short time in the home, she appeared to really enjoy it. The staff are amazing, kind, humorous, and most of all, professional. They treated Mother with the utmost dignity. The home is clean, bright and beautifully decorated with amazing gardens. We cannot find fault with
anything. Her room was always warm and clean. The entertainment brightened my mother's life. Unfortunately, she passed away last week, but she was happy there.

From first visiting, my mother was immediately impressed with the way the home was decorated and also did not have the smell of a residential home.
The friendliness of the staff is second to none and gave me reassurance that Mum would be cared for; she was not the easiest and could be quite violent
at times, but they were so lovely to her.
The entertainment and also the beautiful gardens were also enjoyed by Mum and myself when visiting.
When Mum was very poorly, end of life, the staff were wonderful and treated Mum with dignity and were very caring; they were also so lovely to me and my sister.

Not enough staff to carry out adequate care. A shocking CQC report and communication between home and families, a lot of improvement is needed around person-centered care and medication. Non-existent activities. They make it difficult for families to visit, due to restrictions, no key worker connection
with families.

Thank you for taking the time to review our home. We are disappointed and confused as to why this review has been published after being submitted in October 2021 however all feedback is welcomed and allows us to continually develop our service.
I would like to stress that all residents were and are supported and cared for as individuals from a very dedicated and hardworking team under the very demoing times everyone experienced during the pandemic.
The staffing levels at the home are always relevant and based upon the number of residents in the home and is monitored daily and adjusted accordingly in order that everyone is cared for appropriately and safely.
All the points raised in the CQC report were immediately addressed as evidenced in the recent Good” ratings in all five categories resulting in an Overall “GOOD “ rating.
We are of course disappointed and apologise that your experience at Alexandra Court was a negative one.

I removed my mother-in-law from this home. Very understaffed, very bad management and the owners put profits over residents safety and staff morale. My mother-in-law was walking around in clothes covered in mould. Her drawer was full of mouldy clothes. No one bothered to find out why she smelt of mould.
She was always sad, grey looking when we collected her for outside visits once they allowed outside visits. I then read the shocking CQC report which only backed up my worries about the safety and care being given. Ninety per cent of the blame lands with the owner and management. £700 a week to walk around in mouldy clothes, missed medication, prison-like visits and hardly any mental stimulation from activities. Very few to no updates to families showing the residents smiling. Not even a single picture on Christmas Day of anyone having Christmas fun. Which for the majority of the residents would have been the first Christmas not seeing their families due to nothing being set up for this to happen.

My mother has been in the care home for one year. In that time she's been looked after really well at all times. Although we think with covid and lack of visits she deteriorated quite a lot but she seems happy when we have seen her and thank everyone for all the hard work in a difficult year.
