Bridgedale House offers a versatile approach to care, welcoming long-term needs for older people, as well as respite and day care, while care workers are also experienced in dementia care.

Staff are friendly and well-qualified, understanding the need to communicate with residents and their loved ones. There is a strong focus on health, safety and quality nutrition.

In-depth mental health training allows the team to perform highly on more complex needs, the value of which is enhanced by homely comforts and a pleasant atmosphere.

While living as part of a community, residents also have the privacy of their own bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. My mum stayed at Bridgedale for respite care, she was very happy and relaxed during her stay. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional and were happy to help and give updates on my mum's stay. There was always an activity for her to join in with and the social media updates were useful
as we knew what she had been doing so could talk to her about the activities. The respite stay could not have been better, I would recommend this care home.

From the first phone call to the last goodbye, Bridgedale has delivered on and exceeded the family's hopes of what a care home could be. Mum, who has advanced dementia, spent 2 weeks in rolling-respite at Bridgedale. We have never used care home support before, but after a call with the manager and
a visit, it was clear that Bridgedale would provide all the support Mum would need and the reassurance we needed that Mum would be well looked after.
The stay went extremely well, with Mum settling in quickly, being engaged with activities and cared for extremely well.
It was more difficult to get her home than it was to get her to stay at Bridgedale!

It’s lovely to see the regular photo updates on Facebook and see my mum joining in with some of the activities.
The home is always clean. The food looks delicious.

To start, I was so upset that Mum needed 24/7 dementia care. However, we looked around several homes and Bridgedale House was the only one we really liked. We were very lucky to get a place for her as the home is very good indeed.
It’s a small home, so feels like a proper home, and has lovely buildings
and gardens - the residents are often in the garden in the summer.
However, I’m aware that management and staff matter much more than buildings! At Bridgedale there is a caring staff team and good staff ratios. The home is well run and all the basics are done to a high standard - cleanliness, good food, safety, health needs met and so on.
The staff organise a really good activity programme. I’ve been very impressed with the variety of activities and the effort made by staff. There are also varied trips out to local cafes, bars, shops, walks, museums etc etc.
All in all, I needn’t have worried so much about Mum’s move to a care home. She is very happy at Bridgedale House.

My mother moved here during lockdown in February 2021 and has been really well looked after ever since. Bridgedale is run and staffed by an absolutely amazing team. The care and attention my mother has received has been fantastic. The staff treat everyone with great patience and respect and are so friendly
and happy to chat. The house is lovely and does feel like a private residence. It has extensive pretty gardens, a sunny terrace and plenty of comfortable quiet corners to sit in, including a conservatory. The whole place is spotless, I understand that the food is excellent and the residents have had an ever-increasing programme of activities to keep them occupied, including trips out to parks, cafés and even the occasional pub. I would heartily recommend Bridgedale to anyone taking the difficult decision to place their relative in a care home such as this. Thank you to the manager, one other staff member in particular and the team for looking after our mother so well.

We want to say how wonderful you have all been since Mum arrived last year. While we can’t always visit every day, we feel so connected to the daily postings on Facebook and love to see Mum when she is able to join in the activities, sit in the sun and the gorgeous garden. We love to know we can visit
at any time of the day, and now post-COVID to also come for a lunch.
The activities board, menu posting along with the hairdressing, nails, concerts with singing, dancing and even indoor golf! And the movies keep all the residents busy, and we know to just having all the lovely residents around Mum is an opportunity to have her feel engaged and part of the Bridgedale family.
You are all the very best of what we had hoped how Mum would be cared for and wish you another 10 years of providing a wonderful caring and homely environment for all our loved ones.
Highly recommend.

My first visit, I was very impressed with all aspects. A range of activities for residents. The friendliness and care of staff and management and the standard and cleanliness of the decor, make this home all-round excellent. I cannot praise the team at Bridgedale enough. They have been very supportive to my mum since she became a resident in July this year. Giving up her independence, was a massive thing for her and they tirelessly worked with her to be part of the Bridgedale community. The care and passion given by the
support team is exceptional. Mum looks the person she was before Covid and feels very secure and looked after. The manager and the team keep this up, you are all a credit to your profession.

On the face of it, this home appears excellent until you come across a problem in that the staff cannot deal with your loved one as soon as he/she steps out of line, begins to display what the staff perceive as behavioural difficulties and then it becomes apparent that the management hasn't provided
relevant training to deal with certain 'problems'.
Management is not open to suggestions, especially in areas to improve.

My mother has been a resident at Bridgedale House since March when she moved up from another care home in the South East. As well as being hugely less expensive than Mum's previous care home, Bridgedale House is so much better in every respect than her previous home, from the management and care staff
to the facilities and comfort of the home. It is obvious that everyone at Bridgedale House actually cares and the caring, happy environment that they provide for Mum is truly excellent. We are kept well informed at all times of Mum's needs and any health issues. My brother has just arrived from overseas and visited Mum at Bridgedale for the first time. He too is bowled over by the lovely staff, the caring environment and our mum's obvious happy life here. We can't praise the place highly enough.

My mother moved to Bridgedale in September 2019. Bridgedale is a wonderful home and provides fantastic care in lovely surroundings. All the staff are, kind, caring, compassionate and professional.
There is excellent leadership and during covid, the home has been managed extremely well. I have been
kept well informed by telephone, email and zoom meetings. When I couldn’t visit in person, there is a booth to visit which worked well. There are activities every day as well as visiting singers (when rules allow). I would highly recommend Bridgedale.

Bridgedale provides a lovely environment for residents, high quality rooms, sitting rooms etc and the garden is lovely. It’s difficult to know what happens in the home as my mother doesn’t remember anything, but what I’ve seen when I visit are caring, respectful staff. I’ve also seen staff responding
very sensitively to residents who have become angry or agitated. From the photos I’ve seen on Facebook I can see that staff have arranged activities for residents in the home, and before the recent increase in covid restrictions my mother had been on trips out.

I am so pleased that my sister is being looked after in Bridgedale. The staff are so kind and supportive, not only with her physical welfare but in keeping up her spirits and watching out for and being supportive to any change in her mood. The staff have had a difficult time during the past two years,
but throughout this time the standard of care has not faltered. In fact, they have gone above and beyond on many occasions. Bridgedale is clean and comfortable, providing lovely meals. The staff are always polite and cheerful and the management are efficient and approachable. Their standards should be a benchmark for the care across the whole social care system. Thank you, Bridgedale, for looking after my lovely sister.

Evan began his career in care when he was 16 and joined the team in 2021. Before coming to Bridgedale he had worked in many different roles within the care sector. Evan is our head chef with a real passion for cooking. Evan takes pride, time and attention to making mealtimes the highlight of the day for our residents. Evan enjoys taking the time to work alongside the team to put on themed lunches, afternoon teas, and seasonal parties for everyone to enjoy. “I love being the head chef here at Bridgedale House. Food makes people happy, and I love to see people happy.”

Sandra Shaw

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Sandra joined the team in 2017 before joining Bridgedale Sandra had worked in several different roles within the healthcare sector, Sandra enjoys spending time not only assisting the chef in the kitchen but also assisting our residents and helping them to maintain as much independence as possible. “I enjoy helping serve nutritious meals to our residents and love to be able to offer a helping hand, I pride myself in in creating a relaxed, personal atmosphere for our staff, residents and relatives.
