A very welcoming place, the staff (carers and office staff) made my Mum feel very much at ease especially because it was Mum's first stay in respite.
The lounge and dining areas were both very clean and Mum's room was also very clean and tidy.
Mum loved it, especially the shower room.
Mum said the
food was very nice and never felt hungry at all.
But Mum said the best thing was how friendly and helpful the carers and the staff were and also the other residents.
Overall Mum had a great stay and can't wait to visit again.
Thanks to everyone.

My stay at Platters Farm Lodge was excellent and I was made very welcome. Everyone (all staff) were very attentive and helpful. I had a thoroughly good stay and I hope to be able to stay at Platters again in the near future.
I wish to say thank you to everyone at Platters Farm Lodge for the care I
received.

My husband has never been in a care home before and after his experience, does not want to go into one again.
The only good thing was the physiotherapy he received, having complete muscle loss.
The home - not enough carers, relies on agency mostly.
After being there for 10 days we demanded a meeting
to discuss the 'care plan' which in my eyes should have been done much earlier.
The physios told us they had never a case so severe before and was a learning curve for them.
But now my husband is walking with Zimmer frame aid, which is a miracle, only thanks to the physios, not Platters.
When he needed to use the commode, could have to wait up to 20 minutes which I feel is unacceptable - need more staff.

My Dad was placed in Platters Farm Lodge after pneumonia left him with mobility issues. He had been placed in rehab at Sittingbourne prior to this but had to go back to Medway as an emergency admission. Meals are nutritious and served in a homelike setting. The menu is varied and akin to meals at
home. The roast dinner I saw looked amazing and tea time meals like scrambled egg on toast, fish fingers and beans went down well. Homemade soup, cakes and biscuits made meals less hospital-like!

The physio he has received has been first rate and has been carried out daily - even during the Easter weekend - and the staff have been extremely caring. Families are welcomed and really well looked after as well. Staff are accessible and able to inform families about progress. There is nowhere on the planet where one can receive one-to-one care (other than your own home!) but this is vastly superior to any other NHS care setting we have used to date. If you can, choose Platters!

Current Review Score: 7.2 (7.207)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.2 (7.207) out of 10 for Platters Farm Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.091 for Platters Farm Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (1 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 4.091

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.116 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Platters Farm Lodge is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.116

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
