Ambleside Care Home has looked after my wife for 3 1/2 years. During that time I have been completely satisfied with every respect of the care. I have found all the carers and management extremely good. I have had no cause to complain.

Very good care. Carers always obliging and ready to help him and give him his required care. There has only ever been one member of staff that we have difficulties with but since moving units this problem has been alleviated.

My mother in law came to Ambleside as an end of life patient suffering from acute myeloid leukaemia. The care, support and dedication of the staff from her transfer from the hospice, to end of life was superb. We will always be grateful for the help we received.

My dear wife came into Ambleside nearly twelve months ago, having previously had two short periods of respite. It came to a point when I realised she needed the proper care that being in the home environment I sadly was unable to do. So the difficult decision of placing her in a care home had to be
made and having had previous experience with Ambleside the choice of homes was easy. I cannot thank enough all the staff for the kindness and care they have shown my wife, especially the team on Hamlet who do a first class job. Although I still find it difficult to accept, I know my wife could not be a better place. So thank you Ambleside for all you do, I'm truly grateful.

Both my mother in law and father in law moved into Ambleside recently. They were made very welcome by the staff. The care and support for my father in law, who was very poorly on moving, was exceptional and has aided his recovery. There is a full week of activities supported by dedicated staff. The
home is very clean and the staff go out of their way to be helpful.

My mother has settled in very well because the staff are so warm and friendly. The staff gave good suggestions about the settling in process and these were helpful and worked well. The activity diary is busy and varied and this has proved to be a lot of fun for my mother. Regular trips out and the
visiting singer are favourites and she loves the baking and gardening clubs. My mother enjoys the company of the other residents and likes the staff very much. I find it to be a light, bright, clean and happy home.

My father has been a resident at Ambleside for several months now and I am very pleased with the care he is receiving. The staff are well trained, professional and caring. We have got to know the staff as they are normally dedicated to one suite so they get to know the residents well and helps us when
asking how our father is getting on. The staff are always keen to get the residents involved with the activities planned if they want to.
The facilities are excellent with a nice reception area, resident lounges, a cinema, laundry and a large garden. Coffee and biscuits are always available. The home is clean, does not smell and the rooms are better than some hotels I have been in!! The ensuites are brilliant and the rooms are warm and airy.
The food is very good and the staff will always cater for any dietary needs. I have eaten there myself on several occasions including Christmas lunch. The food was extremely good and the whole event was very well run .

My aunt has been in this care home for 18 months and I am very pleased with the facilities and care that is provided for dementia residents. I have also seen an improvement over that period, following a change of management in December 2016.


My aunt has limited capabilities due to her dementia,

however the staff at Ambleside do their best for her despite her condition, they are caring and compassionate, and this includes management and admin staff as well as the carers. I also have a good relationship with the staff, receiving understanding and empathy, and it is a great relief to know that she is being cared for 24/7 at Ambleside.

My father has been resident at Ambleside for 13 months. It took a while for him to settle in but with the help of the staff he is now very content. Staff are very attentive to him and friendly to me whenever I call - this includes management and admin staff as well as the carers. I was very impressed
that everyone called him by his name from the day he moved in.
His room is always clean, the food is good and any health issues are dealt with promptly. There are many more female than male residents but the staff have done their best to arrange activities that will appeal to the "Gentlemen".

What a relief to find a place for full-time nursing care for our mother at Ambleside.
The facilities are excellent and encourage family and friends to spend quality time together.
The whole staff are friendly and helpful, offering individual care and encouragement on a daily basis to the highest of

Susan

Susan Kelly

Job Title: Home Manager

I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years. I have also previously held a variety of roles in care, including Clinical Lead, Service Manager and Deputy Manager. Becoming a Home Manager at Ambleside is a real career highlight for me. I feel proud that in my role I get to support and guide colleagues and provide a happy home for residents.


In this role, you have to be organised and be a good listener. We work with people, so you need to like being around others and be understanding. A good manager should support and help colleagues. Working in care means we face challenges, and every day is different, so we need to be prepared.


To me, it is really important that both residents and colleagues feel safe, are shown respect and have dignity at all times.


I can honestly say I love the whole day, and I can’t pinpoint one particular favourite time. Although I do particularly enjoy chatting with residents and their families.


In my spare time, I like to keep fit and active, so I go swimming at the weekends. I like to go walking and do aquafit sessions too. I also love the theatre and eating out. I am a keen knitter as well.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I’ve worked at Ambleside for nearly ten years. Before joining the team, I was a Team Leader at another local care home, but I was keen to have a change and work in a bigger care home. I’m so pleased I made the move to Care UK, and becoming Deputy Manager at Ambleside has been a highlight of my career so far. 


Residents are at the heart of everything we do at the home. I’m passionate about making their life enjoyable and rewarding and supporting them to maintain their independence. The highlight of any day is speaking with residents finding out about the activities they have been enjoying, and learning more about their life.


Being positive, a good listener, honest and fair are all-important as Deputy Manager. I’m here to support the team, the residents and their loved ones in any way I can. 


In my free time, it’s my children who keep me busy, I have three boys! I enjoy walking and watching films too.
