Abbeyfield Winnersh is a dementia-friendly residential care home situated in the village of Winnersh, Wokingham. The care home is designed to allow freedom of movement throughout, flowing from one area into another.

The home has 62 en-suite bedrooms each with a brightly coloured front door complete with a letterbox and street lamp. Bedrooms have been provided with speciality furniture that is designed for easy access to residents' possessions.

Whilst each room has its own en-suite, the home also has separate spa-bathrooms with sensory lighting and the technology to be able to play favourite relaxing music.

A beauty salon, communal and private lounges, a cinema, shop and café complete the home and are available for residents and visiting friends and family to use at their leisure.

The large garden and roof terrace has been designed to encourage outside living with lots of areas for activity or relaxation. Recently built summer houses allow outdoor activities throughout the year and help with any hobbies residents wish to pursue.

When children visit they're provided a fun area and climbing frame with plenty of seating for residents to watch them play.

The aim is to treat residents as individuals and tailor the care they provide. Their team of staff are dedicated to ensuring all needs are met and expectations exceeded.

Abbeyfield are proud to offer respite stays here, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

This is the most amazing care home with such caring and engaging staff. They are welcoming, kind, considerate, warm and totally aware of any issues. I would highly recommend Abbeyfield to any prospective family, as this care home is exceptional in all respects. Any medical problems are promptly attended
to. My mother was encouraged to engage in activities but if she was not interested, then that was fine too and she was well supervised. All in all a wonderful care home! Thank you, Abbeyfield.

From our visit to look around Abbeyfield until Mum left after six weeks of respite care, we were extremely impressed with what the home has to offer. Mum has benefited enormously from the break and on returning home said she wanted to go back! The staff throughout Mum's stay have been so helpful and
nothing is too much trouble. The rooms and surroundings are kept spotless and although we haven't been there when activities have taken place, from what we have heard and read about it is clear that the residents are encouraged to maintain a healthy interest in all that's going on around them. We would certainly recommend Abbeyfield as somewhere to stay whether short or long-term. Everyone is so supportive and welcoming and it is a happy and caring environment.

This care home provides a clean, tidy, safe and well managed environment. There is a lovely atmosphere with warm and friendly staff who are always so helpful. Staff are welcoming, calm and very caring with my elderly dad and his particular needs. He is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Staff
always find time to discuss any issues that arise and together we work to resolve them.
The quality of care has so far exceeded our high expectations, this choice of care home is definitely the right place for Dad.

There are members of staff who go beyond the call of duty. They know who they are! I refer to them as earth angels.
Dad has been a resident at Abbeyfield for two years, my family and I have nothing but the highest of praise for the very professional team of carers and administrative staff.
Currently
dealing with personal problems, the team have shown great empathy which I sincerely appreciate. They don't just look after Dad, they look after the whole family! Always there to give advice and help with the mountains of documents to be completed.
Both parents celebrated their 90th birthdays on the 2nd and 14th of April, staff went out of their way to make it a very special day.
We were permitted to use the beautiful summer room set within the grounds equipped with a galley kitchen and bathroom.
Staff helped decorate the room and created a homely ambience. Our extended family and friends were very impressed.

I have had dealings with plenty of homes in my work as a dial-a-ride driver for the less mobile, and this one is one of the best. Mum has dementia and is very mobile and active and sometimes agitated. The staff from top to bottom are wonderful with her, they are very knowledgeable and know their job
inside out. I would have never believed she would settle in a care home. The rooms are lovely and it was even suggested to bring her own bed to help her settle in (we were also offered a bed). She likes to roam around and is very independent, the staff have supported and encouraged this. They have also supported me with the same care and understanding. Abbeyfield Winnersh has top marks from me.

Due to my own ill health and my dear partner's Alzheimer's, I had to find a care home that I could really trust and know that she would get the best care.
Well after 2 months of being at Abbeyfield, I just couldn't have asked for more.
From my 1st enquiry to my show round the management and staff
completely put my mind at ease. No question was unanswered and the compassion for our situation was 100% genuine. The home is modern and always spotless. I visit often and the staff have become true friends as they honestly care so much about all the residents. She has been totally spoilt with love and attention with regular sessions of pamper for her hair and makeup and I can see in her eyes that she is feeling so happy. The entertainment team are so good with daily activities and I honestly enjoy going there to help with the quizzes, crosswords and music games and can see that it really helps the residents. She also loves the food and I really want to say thanks to you all with my love.

My mum entered Abbeyfield in June 2022. It had become really tough keeping her settled and safe at home. Mum settled very quickly and is very happy there, although she doesn't understand that she is in a care home, which I think also demonstrates how friendly and relaxed the environment is. We were

Mum has been at Abbeyfield for almost two years. The care Mum receives is excellent and centred around Mum's individual care needs. The admin team always check on relatives when they phone, it's just like a family. All the staff are very caring and keep in contact with us on a regular basis. Cannot

I took my father to Abbeyfield after he has spent a month at a council-sponsored venue following his discharge from hospital. There could not be a greater example of how care should be provided than Abbeyfield. This place, the staff and the entire organisation is solely focused on the patient and their
needs which could not be further from the experience at the other home. Abbeyfield is everything a care facility should be. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Mum moved to Abbeyfield Winnersh in August 2020 when restrictions with covid were severe. The team handled Mum's move really well and supported her and her family as best they could ensuring we had video calls and updates. Spring forward to May 2022 and Mum is doing well. Her care needs are being met,
she's settled and the Winnersh team look after her very well. They are always on hand for questions and I feel comfortable that Mum is in good hands.

Mum has been at the home for 6 years and in this time I have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff from cleaners to managers. They all go above and beyond to ensure the residents are given an excellent standard of care. They are treated with respect and dignity, they keep them safe. Communication
with families is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. On visits, the residents are happy and relaxed. Mum is happy. We couldn't ask for more.

Abbeyfield Winnersh is a truly exceptional care home. I want to thank the staff from the bottom of my heart for the care they give to my mum. The staff are amazing - from the chefs to the day/night staff - they all know mum by name, they understand her personality and show an incredible amount of love,
care and attention. I looked at a lot of care homes before selecting Abbeyfield Winnersh because it has a very different ethos. Mum has always loved to walk - she lived in the New Forest by the coast and she grew up in rural Scotland. Abbeyfield Winnersh is designed to enable residents to wander around the grounds in complete safety. The staff are so creative and caring. The care home seems to really care about its staff and that translates into exceptional care for residents. I get a call every week to let me know how mum is doing. I feel like the Abbeyfield staff are like mum's family. I trust them completely to look after mum's best interests when I can't be there. Thank you - you're incredible people.

Abbeyfield Winnersh is not wholly open to visitors, however on recent occasions when I have visited her in her room she appears well cared for. Staff are caring, her dignity is maintained and she is encouraged to participate in communal life. Admin/care/management staff are always accessible, knowledgeable,

My mum ended up in hospital in April 2022 and needed respite care urgently so she could be discharged. Abbeyfield Winnersh came highly recommended and they were very quick to arrange her discharge and organise a room for her at Winnersh. The care mum has received has been fantastic, and we have been
kept informed of her progress all the time. Thank you also to the care the staff gave to my sister and I too, as we have both felt very supported at such a difficult time making decisions for mum. Mum is a walker and she is able to access the gardens from her room on her own during the day which has also helped with her recovery. Mum has loved the activities, especially Woody the dog! The rooms are spotless, and mum always looked so well turned out (she has always been a snappy dresser). There is always someone there at the end of the phone or buzzer when you visit. I cannot recommend Abbeyfield highly enough all the staff are just amazing, thank you!

Fabulous care given to my father for his 2 weeks stay, staff friendly and kind, facilities in great order and clean, food was varied, quantity never in question and the food was of a very good quality. Access to the building and COVID testing all seemed to be managed to a high standard.

James started in care in 2011 working in Domiciliary Care Services. James then joined Abbeyfield in 2020 as Care Team Leader, progressing to Deputy Manager shortly after. James manages the downstairs areas of Winnersh which include our Male and Female Households, alongside our residential dementia household.

In 2022 the role of Customer Relations Manager became available, and Amanda decided to make a change in her Abbeyfield journey. If you are looking for care for your loved one Amanda will support you through the process. In addition, Amanda manages our community engagement in the home, supporting our local community with safe spaces to meet in our beautiful summerhouse.

Lisa joined Abbeyfield in 2021 as the Housekeeping Team Leader. Lisa has a team of housekeepers who work alongside her to ensure that our residents have a clean and comfortable home to live in. Lisa also oversees the laundry in the home.
