Abbeyfield Winnersh is a dementia-friendly residential care home situated in the village of Winnersh, Wokingham. The care home is designed to allow freedom of movement throughout, flowing from one area into another.

The home has 62 en-suite bedrooms each with a brightly coloured front door complete with a letterbox and street lamp. Bedrooms have been provided with speciality furniture that is designed for easy access to residents' possessions.

Whilst each room has its own en-suite, the home also has separate spa-bathrooms with sensory lighting and the technology to be able to play favourite relaxing music.

A beauty salon, communal and private lounges, a cinema, shop and café complete the home and are available for residents and visiting friends and family to use at their leisure.

The large garden and roof terrace has been designed to encourage outside living with lots of areas for activity or relaxation. Recently built summer houses allow outdoor activities throughout the year and help with any hobbies residents wish to pursue.

When children visit they're provided a fun area and climbing frame with plenty of seating for residents to watch them play.

The aim is to treat residents as individuals and tailor the care they provide. Their team of staff are dedicated to ensuring all needs are met and expectations exceeded.

Abbeyfield are proud to offer respite stays here, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

A lovely home. That is what it Abbeyfield is - a home.
The team are excellent they offer fabulous care but importantly they treat her like a person. They engage and encourage and are genuinely interested in her. To know she is not only physically cared for but also emotionally is incredibly important.

We as a family were so worried when Grandmas dementia got that bad that we had to consider a care home as you hear so many horror stories. However, Abbeyfield has been just excellent. It's a great place with lovely, attentive staff, good food and perfectly designed for anyone living with dementia. Now
she is being well looked after, Grandma seems more relaxed and a lot happier and it's once again a pleasure to visit her.

Great place.
The facilities are modern and well designed. There is also a great team of staff who are helpful and attentive.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a dementia care home.

Alice started working in care in 2005, caring and cleaning in local Care Homes. Alice then joined Abbeyfield in 2012 as a Care Assistant, working towards Team Leader, Head of Care, and then managing Care Homes in 2018. She joined Abbeyfield Winnersh in September 2024.

James started in care in 2011 working in Domiciliary Care Services. James then joined Abbeyfield in 2020 as Care Team Leader, progressing to Deputy Manager shortly after. James manages the downstairs areas of Winnersh which include our Male and Female Households, alongside our residential dementia household.

Alex started working in care in 2009 working in hospital theatres, followed by nursing homes. Alex then joined Abbeyfield in October 2024. Alex manages the upstairs areas of Winnersh which include our residents of higher needs. Alex supports this by bringing his clinical background knowledge to the role.

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager

Amanda started working in care in 2016 when Abbeyfield Winnersh opened. She joined us as a Care Assistant, quickly progressing to Care Team Leader where she completed her NVQ in Dementia Pathways. In 2022 the role of Customer Relations Manager became available, and Amanda decided to make a change in her Abbeyfield journey. If you are looking for care for your loved one Amanda will support you through the process. In addition, Amanda manages our community engagement in the home, supporting our local community with safe spaces to meet in our beautiful summerhouse.

Jamal joined Abbeyfield Winnersh in 2022. Jamal has a varied role, which includes ensuring the compliance of all aspects of Health & Safety in the home, garden maintenance, redecoration and assisting in day-to-day repairs.

Lisa joined Abbeyfield in 2021 as the Housekeeping Team Leader. Lisa has a team of housekeepers who work alongside her to ensure that our residents have a clean and comfortable home to live in. Lisa also oversees the laundry in the home.
