Mam was a resident from the summer of 2023 until she passed away at the end of November. She'd been in 2 care homes previously (one for respite and one we had to remove her from for her safety) and I can say hand on heart Ashton Court is a phenomenal care home.
We were always made to feel very welcome
to visit at any time, kept up to date with mams care/health. Mam was really settled and happy in the home and every single member of staff cared for her with such dignity and empathy, the home gave me such peace of mind that Mam was in the right place (she had dementia and cancer) and that she was being cared for by a team that did go above and beyond.
Everyone had a smile for both Mam and me and Dad, and the food always smelled lush when we went in! The management and the office staff were always so friendly it really did feel like a home away from home and I don't think you could wish for anything more from a care home looking after your loved one.

My mother is in the last stage of dementia and she requires 24-hour care. Recently she become very poorly with pneumonia. The staff were very caring and were in contact with me throughout. The matter became worse when Mam returned to the care home and she was placed on end-of-life care. The staff have
been regularly monitoring Mam, they also keep her dignity daily. She has mouth care and body care. They also took care of my family during such a difficult time.

My grandfather can no longer take care of himself so my mother and I decided to put him into this adorable care home. Best decision we have made.
My auntie said it's the best care home she's ever seen and she is so thankful to us for putting him into this care home.
It's the most modern care home
I've ever seen in my life!
Can't fault it at all 10/10, outstanding!

Staff are wonderful. My mum is well cared for. She may be in mind 'garden' of her own, but the staff are the gardeners, and without them, our mum won't flourish like a pink rose. From reception to caring staff, cleaners, kitchen staff, and nurses. A huge important 'cog' of an amazing working 'clock'.
Without you, our mum would lose her smile. Thanks guys.

Cannot fault the care from the staff and nurses but a lack of activities for residents. A list of activities is on the notice board - bingo, quizzes, chats, exercises etc but very rarely happen. Keeping the brain active helps these people.

Our father has been at the home for a year now and is extremely happy with the care and attention he has received. The last year has been very difficult with covid but all the staff have been excellent keeping us informed of what has been happening. There is a pod now so we are able to visit which is
proving very popular. Thanks again to all at Ashton Court.

Called at short notice to drop things off.
Staff arranged Mother to come down to the window.
Excellent covid protocols in place.
Couldn’t ask for a better place for her to be in.
She’s been there for 2 years never have had a problem.

I looked around at several other care homes before I chose Ashton Court for mam. The facilities are modern, clean and well maintained and the staff are friendly, caring and committed to the residents.
The manager and office staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble and the door is always open.
My mam has been here for several months, I am happy for my mam to become a permanent resident at this home.

The home is friendly, very clean, good layout and the rooms are excellent. Food always of good quality. The staff are very attentive also lots of staff on duty. Lots of activities for residents. Only negative to ground floor lobby is like a greenhouse.
This is the best care home I've seen in years.
Does not have that old person smell well done!

I am confident that my husband is well looked after. He is well fed, his care needs are attended to extremely well. As he doesn't participate in activities, it would be good for him to be "taken" outside for fresh air and encouraged to participate.
Activities for male residents could be more varied.

My mam is really happy here, she's been here 6 months. They have great carers and the food is lovely, they have loads of entertainment on for all occasions. They all get dressed up for Christmas and Halloween and so do the relatives. It's really like one big happy family.

I am extremely pleased with the care my mother-in-law has received since moving into Ashton Court. She has only been a resident for 3 weeks but she has settled in so well, this is due to the management and staff being so considerate and caring, her appetite has improved immensely due to the lovely freshly
cooked meals.
The care home is very welcoming and there is always a lovely atmosphere when visiting, the staff always keep us up to date with her situation. My mother-in-law's personal hygiene has improved greatly, she is always bathed, hair washed and in freshly washed clothes, her room is always clean and smells nice and fresh, the bathroom is immaculate.
I genuinely feel she is happy and content as she has started to communicate a lot more and started to laugh and smile again.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.851)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.851) out of 10 for Ashton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Ashton Court is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.851 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashton Court is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.476

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
